I wanted to give a shout out to Metal Rescue. I just took some suspension parts out of an overnight bath in this solution and was very pleased with the results. All the parts are rust free after the bath and clean up was a simple wash down in the tub. Gloves are not even required. It wasn't cheap but it's a lot cheaper than Dremel parts and my time. I'll be buying more for the rear suspension cleanup. http://www.metalrescue.com
  2. Thanks Z Greek. After reading some threads that came up after my submission, I think I'm going Eibach/Tokiko HP or I might try the Illuminas so I can adjust the ride.
  3. I've been rebuilding a 78 280Z for about 18 months. Way too invested at this point to worry a great deal about cost but I'm not particularly interested in wasting money. The rubber bushings were completely gone so while I was replacing the bushings, I broke down the strut assembly for rehab. My intent was to replace the strut and probably the springs which I was reasonably sure had neither ever been replaced. I was surprised to find KYB 361002's in what appear to be good condition as the struts. Springs are stock and most likely original. I never really got to drive the car much after purchase and before engine failure so I didn't get to test anything or really feel it out. Steering was an issue with the buchings gone. This car is going to be a frequent driver and most likely never on the track. I'm leaning towards replacing the struts and springs all around to be sure everything is solid. But..with the springs and struts off the car is there a way to test funtionality for purpose? Also I see a lot of recommended combinations but many talk about stiffness. I know it's a sports car, but what combinations of replacement struts and springs give the most OEM ride feel. I drove a Z in college for well over 100k, I never had a problem with the original feel. Thanks for the input.
