  1. Those are some great ideas! In terms of getting the positioning correct I was reading the hybridZ thread about the DIY laser driveline alignment tool. It might take some fiddling with the jack but I could probably get a decent alignment and then mark that off and drill the holes.
  2. Hello everyone, Well I've tried this question over at hybridZ and haven't had any bites yet so I thought I'd try over here as well. Long story short, one of the previous owners of the car (late 1973 240z) cut off the transmission tunnel ears in the process of installing a v8. I am currently returning the car to near stock with a l24 mated to a 280zx 5spd and obviously can't use the original crossmember due to the lack of "ears" on the body to bolt the crossmember to. I am not set up to weld in my garage and do not have any welding skill so I have two options: (1) find a bolt on crossmember that would work (2) tow the car to a shop and have them weld something up. The second option is a lot more hassle so I would like to avoid this if possible. I have been looking at bolt on crossmembers for transmissions like the turbo 350 or t-56 transmissions from v8 swap kits which bolt through the floor pan. Unfortunately from pictures I can not tell if any of these crossmembers would even be close to working. I don't have a strong sense of it the mount height of any of the transmissions would be close to the original transmission. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or know if any of the v8 trans crossmembers would work? Thanks.
  3. Blue (and others) how are you planning on pressing the throwout bearing into the collar? I just received mine, haven't attempted to put it in but I am assuming you need a press of sorts??
  4. Great! Thank you Carl, exactly what I needed, will save me a ton of time too. Pete thank you for that resource I will download those for sure!!
  5. Thank you for the responses. Unfortunately as I mentioned I am not looking for diameter, length and pitch of the bolts/screws but rather I'm trying to source the nissan part number of these bolts. That way grade and quality of the bolts isnt in question, I realize I'm nitpicking but for my own piece of mind I'd rather get oem stuff. Thanks!
  6. Greetings! Well I have been on the hunt for some oem Nissan bolts and haven't had much luck. The engine is a 71 L24 which had a 3spd auto hooked up to it when I bought it, so naturally I shopped around for a manual and ended up with a 5spd from a 280zx. However I have been unable to find the correct Nissan bolts (4 bolts) to mate the transmission to the engine, I went to the dealer but all they have there is software with poorly scanned microfiche and we tried ordering what looked to be the correct part on the sheet but it came back wrong. So if anyone has the Nissan part number that would be great. Also I am assuming that the starter bolts from the starter that came off the manual transmission will not be reusable(??) so I am looking for those part numbers as well. I'm trying to stay away from going to my local bolt supplier to source these as I don't know anything about grades and frankly don't want to worry that i've received incorrect advice from someone online (no offense intended). As a side note I just ordered new pressure plate bolts, can someone confirm that : 01121-00772 is the correct nissan part number for the l24 flywheel (seems almost every nissan uses this bolt for the pressure plate)? Thanks!
