Who are these guest's
I was just browsing through the the unread posts and noticed there was 8 members online and 61 guest's. I guess I don't really want to know who they are but why there is so many that read the posts but never ask questions. Or are they real? Could some of them be bots roaming looking for email addresses ?

Just what the Doctor ordered. 1977 280z
The heater core arrived from Rockauto, SPECTRA PREMIUM 94741, I'm going to try and fit it this weekend. Also finished the steering rack, new bearings, seal, cleaned and re packed it, just waiting on the second set of bellows, the first set, AC Delco 46A7010A is on Rockauto's list for rack&pinion bellows that fit a 280z, well they don't, way too big. That weird rear control arm bolt cover came back from the platers, still have no idea what purpose it serves but at least it's not rusting anymore.

Hardway's Red Rocket 1972 240z Build Thread
Some auto parts stores, Carquest for instance can make you up a rattle can of the original colour, not the ideal method but that engine bay is crying out for a bit of love.

pedal return springs
Sometimes when you let the clutch or brake pedal up quickly and they hit the stops you get that metal spring echo sound in the pedal box, I found by stuffing some dense foam up the length of the spring you can get rid of a lot of the sound.

DIY Home Built Vapor Blasting/ Honing Cabinet , wetblasting
The glass beads aren't that heavy but once they are stationary they don't get moving easily without some agitation, I think the sewage pump would have a hard time lifting them up. I'm using the hopper design the same as Duffy with the glass beads above the pump and I still have to blast the nozzle down into the pile of beads to get them mixed up so they can be sucked down to the pump.

Reproduction headlight covers
Congratulations, do you know how many guys have tried to bring a reproduction headlight covers to market and failed? That is quite an achievement. Stainless steel frames?

Where to go with this rusthole
The only way That's about all you can do without drilling out the spot welds and separating everything. Once you have it all cut back to clean metal one of those small hand held sand blasters comes in handy to reach up into those cavities and clean the surface rust off. The doglegs are about the most complicated and frustrating area to repair on these cars, once they're done is all down hill.

It's up for sale again!
You can see why his friend dropped it off at the farm and never came back.

Project Boondoggle (or, so I went and bought a Z!)
Nice, can you describe your next few steps? This is such a crucial stage in the success or failure of the finished look and there seems to be a lot of variety in the procedure, just like to hear yours. Thanks

Thinking about installing an BMW M6 engine in my Z
Too bad he went that far and didn't bother to finish it, sounds like everything other than the paint needs sorting out. So you mean finish it properly? Maybe I'll get to it one of these days

heater box door covering-78 280Z
Padded vinyl is what was used originally, contact cement or good quality spray adhesive will do the job.

1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
Take a pencil and draw that same ellipse pattern on the rack, you'll see that it covers almost 360 degrees of the rack and comes back to the same point. With grease packed into the tube inside of the bushing and in the bellows there is always lubrication for the rack.

I think a U shaped trough would work just as well but would have to have that elliptical shape in order to provide lubrication to the circumference of the rack once the groove is packed with grease.

front suspension and tire clearance problem
Happy to be proven wrong, as long as you have the same distance between the tire and the coil seat on both sides then your camber will equal.

Just what the Doctor ordered. 1977 280z
I got the engine back together, just waiting on two more freeze plugs that were missing from the kit. The valve cover is a spare, the good one is on the shelf until the engine is back in the car. Picked up freshly sand blasted parts, now that they are clean I'll disassemble and replace the bearings. One more batch of of suspension parts to be blasted and painted and then on to the shell and the wiring harness.

Fuel Sender/Gauge
Can you not just get a used 240 tank? I got around the 90-10 ohm problem by using a Speedhut fuel gauge that is programable.

front suspension and tire clearance problem
Yeah, that strut is toast, it must have received quite a wack to bend it like that.

7" brake booster repair and restoration
That's great! Hope it works out, it would be nice not to be at the mercy of Cardone.

Shop says they can't perform an alignment
I'm restoring the steering rack on a 77 280z right now, the part # for the bushings you have now are for the older narrow rack, these are are the bushings you are looking for. In fact they are so tight I had to grind/sand a 1mm off the sides to get them to fit.

Dash Preservation
Never drive during the day I have one of those felt/carpet dash toupee with reflective foil sewn in, I leave it on the dash all the time except for cars shows. MSA sells them and you can get them on ebay.

Dash Harness Backup light Wire Q's
The problem is that diagram, they have made it look like the connectors for 39&40 are inside the car under the dash, they are just as Jim says part of the engine bay harness and just as Steve said they snake down under the tranny tunnel to connect with the back up switch on the transmission.
