  1. @siteunseen, now I just work-eat-sleep, once I cut the booze out it was amazing how much I started to get done and how much more money I had to spend on the car.
  2. Got all the ITB linkage zeroed in so now just have to balance them once I get the engine running,The strut supports are on and coolant is in, no leaks yet,Power steering is installed and dash is in for good now, only had to pull it once,Got the exhaust system in, I would like to find some way to tuck the muffler up a bit more but also like the twice pipes look,Starting to look like a car again!Sprayed the finisher with SEM Landau,Brake lights are in, hoping to use this June 1972 plate, will have to see what the MoT has to say about it,This is one of the leather replacements for the original vinyl pieces from Interior Innovations, it's not glued in yet and I'm not looking forward to it, I wish they had used garment leather instead of upholstery grade leather, it would have been much easier to shape to the wheel well. It is very stiff and fights you on every corner and seam.

It's to feed the mice that will eventually make their home in the heating system
  4. Have you taken a long drive siting in stock seats yet? You might change your mind.
  5. Craigslist?
  6. Have you tried your second bidder?

@dmorales-bello could you give us a bit more info what brand you used, any problems you ran into, tips? Oh, and your car is stunning by the way. Thanks, Chris

Zedy, I will be running BFGoodrich g-Force Rival 225/50 ZR16 on my stock bodied Z with Eibach lowering springs, it is not on the road yet but I removed the springs from the strut mounts and raised and lower the car with a jack and didn't find any interference. Interested to hear what problems you have run into. Thanks, Chris
  9. Myself and lots of other guys have found it easier to install the stainless steel trim before you install the glass/seal on the car. By the time the whole unit is on the car the rubber is stretched tight and it is very easy to rip the rubber trying to get it over the trim. I'll have to check my schedule..... yes I think I can squeeze you in any time you like, I'll bring my own lube
  10. I did use a small amount of this stuff, http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/80-8502 but you could also just use a bit of soapy water.

Every old one I've seen has been cut to the angle of the window frame on the inside edge but cutting the squeegee to the outside edge would probably keep out more water.
  12. If this is the case the brake failure sensor plunger thingy might be pushed over to one side and will need to be re-set. I wouldn't use vise grips to clamp those lines, maybe just some C clamps with a couple thin pieces of wood or plastic to protect the rubber, there are also dedicated hose clamp pliers.
  13. Discovered it by accident, could not find any thin rope so gave the trimmer line a go, perfect, couldn't believe how well worked. It just slides over the rubber. Yes sir, much easier than the other way. Mark, it's exactly like the method that everyone uses but use trimmer line instead of kitchen cord or thin propylene rope. Start the line in the middle of the windshield seal at the the bottom and tuck the line into the seam that will go over the weld flange of windshield opening, continue all the way around until you are back to where the other end of the line is sticking out. Just like in the pic, then mount the whole thing on the car and start pulling one side of the line, this will bring the rubber seal lip over the weld flange, now start pulling the other side, you want to work both ends of the line, a few inches on this side a few inches on the other. As you are pulling the lip in press it home with your fingers so that it is well seated on the flange, the bottom and sides are fairly easy it's the two top corners that can be tricky, on the D/S you have to use a clockwise circular motion with the line to pull the corner in and a counter CW motion on the P/S to p corner, you can also use the other hand to push the glass in from the outside. A helper would be good but you can easily do by yourself.
  14. That made me start thinking about the condition on the flex hoses, are you sure they are all in good condition? An interesting test would be to clamp all four hoses right up next to the hard lines and see how the pedal feels then clamp them on the other end of the flex line so you can feel how the flex line affects the pedal feel.

Unless of course it's up on jack stands, just as much fun to work on as drive
  16. I love doing the windshields on these cars, 10 min. job, string trimmer line makes it so easy. Ggot the dash sort of in, just a couple of screws holding it in case it has to come back out.
  17. The D/S rear brake is actually the farthest from the M/C so you did bleed it in the proper order, also you could try the trick of giving the calipers a sharp rap with hard plastic faced hammer just before bleeding, it will help release those tiny bubbles that cling to the walls.
  18. Thanks boys I know it looks almost done but it's still a long way from even starting the engine, finished the upper vinyl today so I can install the windshield tomorrow then finally get the dash in, that is the big step, the dash. Hope all the electrical works just the way it did when I took it apart.
  19. I got the header heat shields in, the D/S side rail vinyl done and installed some of the pretty bits in the engine bay.

Always a treat to see how clean a real engine builder keeps their shop, one of the guys in our local club has one of Eiji's engines, he says it just sings.
  21. I got the header vinyl in today and just by chance noticed that my wife had dozens of these clamps a couple days ago so the timing was great. also windshield rubber and ss trim installed, brake and clutch masters are in and ready for fluid, Radiator, fan, alternator, oil cooler and a bunch of little stuff,

  23. Mark, you will be one of those guys at car shows who bring mirrors with them so everyone can see how pretty the bottom of the car is That's a lot of work but is going to look great.

Well I can see you have posted something Allan but since you are on my f--- off list I can't see it I'm sure I'm not missing anything of worth though.
  25. Rust bucket is a subjective term, that's what we call a pretty clean Z where I live.
