  1. count me in too.
  2. Wow, didn't see it going much over $24,000. If you look at the bid history, $24k is where the 3rd guy wisely left the stage and the remaining 2 guys duked it out for the next $5000.
  3. Jimmy, listen to what these boys are telling you, I think everyone of us that have posted in your thread have restored at least one rusty Z and some of us more than one. Don't try to flip this car, buy it and keep it, fix it properly, if you can find a rust free Z in the future you will pay through the nose for it. This one is very fixable and affordable.
  4. Thanks for the heads up on flocking, the final product looks very presentable. So all the gauges are been lit by just LED bulbs in the stock position with the green filters removed? That's a very even illumination, can you tell us which led bulbs you used?
  5. You are most likely not going to see a profit but you will learn a lot about these cars which is great fun and worth every penny.
  6. I'm guessing a telephone pole or light standard got in the way but it looks like the driver may have walked away from it. The remnants of that white plastic sheet that is on the car, would that be something the Cops put on it to keep the traffic moving or maybe the tow truck driver to keep the broken glass from falling off?
  7. get some new cartridges for your respirator, the new 2k epoxy primers are sooo toxic.
  8. You might have to find a machine shop with a CNC mill but the price just tripled.

  10. I used foam filter oil but the Ramair inside foam layer that is closest to the air horn is denser then the outer layer and becomes very restrictive when oiled. Maybe I just got a sales rep who did not know the right answer or maybe the company is only interested in selling filters.
  11. I used those Ramair filters on my triples and they are excellent, they breath well and seem to catch a lot dust but when they get dirty and need cleaning is when the problems started for me. Ramair doesn't or at least didn't sell the static spray to re-charge the filters and when I asked them what I should use their reply was "just oil them" I did that and it changed the foams ability to allow air in, like I was driving with the choke on and resulted in a very rich condition. Hope you can find a better way to deal with it than me, just don't oil them.
  12. Well, Jody has her now and he says he'll have the paint done and ready to return in a month! With any luck I'll be driving it by the end of July. I'm getting the shop cleaned up and started making a list of the correct order of assembly so I don't have to go back re do things or remove something I have already installed. If anyone has any corrections or add ons please mention them. Exterior, fuel & brake lines, parking brake cable, gas tank, straps and hoses, differential, hangers and A arms, rear suspension, front suspension, engine/transmission, driveshaft, front and rear brakes, brake and clutch masters, exhaust system, front air dam, emblems, wheels, swaybars, lower to the ground and torque all suspension nuts. Interior, headliner, header foam and upper vinyl, rubber body plugs, Murder mat insulation, front windshield, entire wiring harness, dash with instruments, fabric insulation, heater box and fan housing, remainder of the vinyl interior, plastic panels, carpets, seats, all weather stripping, scuff/kick plates, parking brake handle, doors and door glass, hatch and hatch glass, antenna What did I miss?
  13. I did but never really got a chance to try and test it, shortly after this I decided to sell that engine and go with a bmw s38 engine. I was pulling vacuum from the back of the carbs. I know I have some pics of the finished set up but can't find them at the moment, I'll post them when I do.
  14. The price on these has gone up since I last looked them but, http://www.bhjdynamics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=242&zenid=0usn3hloiia3ff5sr1himig8n6
  15. They think they know where it's going and want to eliminate the chaff?
  16. grannyknot posted a post in a topic in 240K Skyline
How good of a friend, will he let you take it for a spin?
  17. Smart looking car, will be interesting to see where the bids go on such a modified Z.
  18. Chuck, you wouldn't happen to have any pics of that brace would you? Did you just brace the upper flat ? Thanks
  19. Obviously photoshopped, I know your garage isn't that clean. Your fenders look to be in in a lot better shape than mine, I'm hoping Jody can work his magic and salvage the ones I have cause they are getting very hard to find.
  20. You made my heart stop there for a second but after having another look at it it has to mount on the inside of the sugar scoop or it won't a line with the wheel well arch Steve, I zoomed in on a couple of your pics and it looks like you have a bit of an angle but I don't think it is as steep as mine. Maybe it just needs to be mounted for a while and it will relax some but I've seen lots of Z's with these air dams and they were flat. I guess I could heat it up and put a bit traction on it to persuade it to behave. Open to any suggestions. Cliff, what is a metal limp? Put your beer down and use both fingers when typing.
  21. Actually it was the cheapest socket I could find, $25 I think, the alternative was a very expensive crows foot wrench and since it was for a transmission the tightening torque was important, now take the 5" of the crows foot wrench and put that on the end of a calibrated torque wrench and you end up with math problem that I couldn't figure out, so, I built the cave man socket. It's a good weapon too.
  22. Trying to mount a Xenon air dam and I'm sure the flat part of the air dam that mounts just under the grill is suppose to be level but mine is pointing up in the air at about a 25* angle, is there is trick or do I have to make a brace or something to force it to level out? The sides of the air dam where it mounts to the fenders and sugar scoops are level and fit well. Thanks,
  23. She is heading up for body and paint tomorrow, don't know what I'm going to do with an empty shop.
  24. I was born and raised in Vancouver so I hear you, really I don't have much good to say about T.O. except all the access to manufactures and services. But I would love to go back Wolfvile N.S., was one of the prettiest towns I had ever seen but that was 33 yrs ago. Philip, any east coast Zfests coming up this year?
  25. Like this, cut the socket in half and weld a pipe in between, I had to rig this one up to remove and tighten the main nut on a Datsun 5spd transmission
