  1. I am going to try and teach myself triple DCOE tuning over the next year or so. If I can learn how to get the carbs tuned 90% I'll be happy. I'm paying $600 every time I take the car into the triples guru... so that has to stop! If one man can do it, another man can do it. Wondering if anyone can give me some insight on silver soldering jets? I have just purchased a set of jet drills, metric and imperial along with a small hand drill. Thanks, Chris
  2. I would put a new bulb in and cable tie/ duct tape it back in until you can get to a Z swap meet or wait until some kind soul on this board offers to send you one. I always find that as soon as I spring for the expensive option, the cheaper one pops up. Maybe check your local craigslist for someone parting out a Z

You might want to have a look through this thread, http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/38499-brake-upgrade-faq/
  4. I'm not saying the metal bonding glues aren't useful in certain circumstances but if you have rust then no amount of patching with glue or welding is going to help until you remove the rust completely. Personally, I would always trust a true weld over a surface adhesion.
  5. I can't wait to go through this. Thank you
  6. The RX7 pump is very quiet and fairly cheap but from my experience and a few others, is does not pump 4psi, more like 2-2.7 psi. That pressure is perfectly okay for a stock street car.
  7. Osteo, looks fantastic! I can see it. " The one grand ambulance bar cleaner"? is that an in joke or an actual product? Whatever it is, it certainly works well. Chris
  8. "They have no soul" ? I remember that from when I was a kid, (the Z came out when I was 10) and even in the 70's we sure it was the Big Three and British Leyland that were pushing that line to the domestic market. Datsun took a big chunk out of their profit in those years.

siteunseen, are you using the ZTherapy rebuild kit?
  10. 15x7 215/60/15 No rubbing but my rear wheel wells are rolled.
  11. Opening for head mechanic... that's never good. Mike must be swamped, I'll stop by this week and sniff around. Chris
  12. When this thread popped up again I remembered that just after my 1st post I came across a Clifford equal length 6-2 (Jack use to call them 6=8) so I had it ceramic coated and use it on my L28 and love it.
  13. I agree, but every production car has its day as an affordable used car that can be picked up cheaply and worked on. If it is an exceptional car like our Z's eventually it passes out of that category and on to one that is more expensive. How many more unrestored Z's can there still be? Our Z's have always been cool but soon they'll be cool and pricey, time to get it re-appraised.
  14. Thanks guys, I posted the same question on Hybridz and TonyD suggested that as long as there is a restrictor in the vacuum line, that I should only need to tap into one of the runners, so I'm a bit confused. Maybe I should contact 123Ignition and find out from them the minimum vacuum signal the dizzy requires to work and then do some measuring of the vacuum from my engine.
  15. The 123Ignition distributor that I installed in the spring is programable and I think it it is capable of ignoring a vacuum signal at any rpm, idle in this case. I would just like to bring down the fuel consumption while cruising and the load is low.
  16. Here is a pic of the intake manifold on my engine, I would like to install a vacuum manifold/balance tube so I can take advantage of the vacuum advance feature on the new dizzy. Would 4 vacuum take offs from the 4 inner intake runners be enough to even out the pulses or should I take vacuum from all 6 ? Thanks, Chris

Hey Mike, as I have said a few times before, I love this site and all the work you do on it. Personally, I hate change but that is more about me becoming and old fart than the new look. I find the new site very easy to use and intuitive. Good work. Really the only thing I miss is the spell check red line under mis-spelled words. If I'm flying along on a reply to someone I rely on the red line to tell me I'm going too fast and I should re-read my reply. But I'll get use it. Thanks, Chris

Patcon, thanks, I would appreciate it. Blue, that's some great info right there! I'll send you my email address. I figure if I'm going to keep these triples then I better go all the way and learn how to tune them properly myself, really jump right into it and master the technique. Chris

Hey guys, I'm trying to get access to Keith Franck's "white paper" on carbs, Keith has accepted me into the Sidedraft Central yahoo group but for some unknown reason I can't log in and read through the archives. Keith's advise was to try and get a new yahoo ID and I have done that but still no luck. I have tried everything....so wondering if any of the carb guys here can advise on how I can access all the great this info, has anyone downloaded this stuff? Thanks, Chris

Chris, I can second Jim's recomendation as I also took his advice and bought the WESCO roadster seat belt kit over two years, they work well and are a very good fit. Thanks again Jim. Chris (as well)

I don't know anything about this company but I wish I had when I redid my interior, hard to beat the smell of leather. https://www.interior-innovations.com/index.php/welcome/product_detail/117
  23. I guess I'm thinking about this the wrong way around, I suppose I should really be changing my 4 stud hubs for 5 stud.
  24. Great job on the blower box, isn't that fun connecting up those 4 hard wire/cables? I've done that job 3 times now and hope I never have to do it again. You'll like the Honda blower, I found it moved about 2x as much air as the old blower. Chris
  25. I have a set of BMW Style 5 basket weave wheels,5x120 and I'm wondering if is possible to have them re-drilled to fit the 4 stud hubs on my Z. Has anyone ever done this? Thanks, Chris
