  1. Yes NICOclub download section has been a great help to me putting this engine system together. The ECU is very basic, you can read all 8 fault codes from a flashing led on the back of the unit.
  2. You're probably right, looks like a nice Z other than the doctored block numbers and 9-10 yrs ago almost no one would have cared.
  3. Whoa, looks like you have your work cut out for you, please post more pics once you have dug in.
  4. Well they might have been welded on but at the moment all you can see is where the seam has been mudded over, get your knife out and start digging out all the filer, I have a feeling you are going to find a lot of rust behind it. Anything is possible with POs
  5. Okay did some more tweaking today, worked the idle down to 800rpm, brought the advance up to 20, the idle is still hanging for a few seconds and when it does the advance goes up to 30-35 Vacuum gauge is reading 19-20 in. at 800 rpm. Everything is healthy so I guess I'll have to live with it for the time being. Thanks all.

That is an aftermarket 90 degree silicone elbow that punched a hole in for the IACV

I got her running well enough to take it for its first drive, fun little car, went for a blast up my back road. A few rattles and vibrations I have to hunt down and need a new filler hose so ordered that today. The car is filthy from sitting in the shop since the paint job but you can get the idea of what it will look like when she's all shiny again, very pleased with the height, just where I like it. Don't want to look like a boy racer.
  8. Good question, I'll check the vacuum tomorrow. The throttle return is handled by a spring mounted on the side of the TB. When I blip it I'm turning the throttle cable rocker by hand so I know the butterfly is closed, I have been looking for air leaks but haven't found any yet. Interesting, seems like it is a problem others are having. No idea if it came from an Auto car or not, I'll see if I can contact this kruked fella and send him a pic of my unit. Normal fuel pressure is 38psi and that is pretty much where it is right now, as the throttle opens up wide the pressure goes up to 43psi. Good idea, I will put the timming light on while it is hanging. The engine and ECU are from a 1991 240SX.
  9. He shouldn't be, he was offered the going rate. https://bringatrailer.com/datsun/260z/?q=260z
  10. 1973 510 /Nissan KA24DE swap, 4cyl, 2.4L, fuel injected, MAF controlled, stock ECU, freshly rebuilt. Finally got the engine running consistently, idle is about 900rpm, it's suppose to be 750 but can't seem to get it lower without it starting to stumble. Advance at idle is 19 degrees right where it is suppose to be but when I blip the throttle the revs go up to 1200-1300 and hang there for 4 seconds or so before backing down to 900. The throttle cable isn't hanging up anywhere but the revs are. Does that sound like a recognizable symptom of something? Thanks

Got my second jab today and plan on feeling horrible tomorrow.
  12. Yes, but you have to weld the new panel on anyway.
  13. Yeah but not as much fun and sureI wouldn't get that for $4,600
  14. I'm talking about pre drilling the spot weld with a separate 1/8" drill bit then when you go to use the cutter the spring loaded drill is held captive. Actually it is the spring that is the problem, it doesn't push with enough pressure. I spent about $70 on that kit and I was determined to get my moneys worth out of it.
  15. What procedure did you use on the plastic lenses? It seems anytime I take a buffer to those lenses I end up melting them and have to start again.
  16. @Patcon, do you mind telling us how much that set you back? I've had that same idea, buy a fixer upper and drop an S54 into it.
  17. Hey congrats on the fender/sugar scoop blend, that's the way it should be done, just one clean reflection right through the seam. It's a lot of extra work but looks great if done right.
  18. The trick to that kit is to pre drill the spot weld with a 1/8" drill then the cutter stays on track.
  19. Were straying way off topic here but finding a bushing that is already in production that fits is probably the all around best solution.
  20. I have one NOS mustache bar bushing on the self and hoping to find another one of these days.
  21. That is a great tool, back when you could get a hold of those bushings I had to cut the top lip into petals and fold them down in order to secure the bushing.
  22. I don't know if this qualifies as a tool but it's going to be very useful to me, My shop has a bit of a slope leading up to it. A car that is running can just drive in but most of the cars that come in can't do it under their own power so I tow them up with the lawn tractor but have to stop 10-15 ft. away, then hook up tow straps and pull the car in with a come-along. A long and tiresome job, so I picked up a 12v 3,500 lb winch, built a base for it, hook it up to a battery, hook the battery charger up to it and turn it to Start. Lots of juice flowing and pull the car into the garage in seconds. I love it! Less work for my old back.
  23. I'm pretty sure making the fender and sugar scoop two separate pieces was a cost cutting effort by Nissan, making them one piece is a good look IMO but if it isn't done perfectly it looks terrible. Once they are welded you'll have to spend extra time and effort with a hammer/dolly and a long board sanding block to make sure there are no traces left of the seam.

I was looking for wiper blades for the 510 this morning and stumbled upon these guys, http://datnissparts.com/ Kind of embarrassed to say I have never heard of them, they cover most of the Datsun line up and there prices are competitive, anyone ever ordered from them?
