  1. That would be my Dad speaking through me again. Here are 2 "flying contraptions" the old man built when he was a teenager in the 1930's
  2. If they did it the way BMW did then the whole contraption sits in a pan with a lip around it and has 2 drain holes in the back corners and tubes that run down the C pillar and exit under the car, but if so much as a leaf or thick bug gets in there the tubes clog up.
  3. Just like the BMW's from the 80's, slides back parallel to roof but in a Z there wouldn't be much headroom.
  4. @240260280, you've been holding out on us, love the latest batch of Z's Change the hood out and this would be a nice car even with the towel rack.
  5. There is no section that just deals with interior mods that I am aware of but changing the seats out for something more comfortable or with better bolsters is not uncommon. This Hybridz thread has some ideas, https://forums.hybridz.org/topic/88301-seat-swap-list-for-s30s/ Most guys have it as part of their build thread, popular seat swaps include early Miata seats, Honda Integra seats, BMW e30 seats, Mazda RX8 seats, I put 350Z seats in my car and they are great but in all cases you have to fabricate the adapters to mount them.
  6. Ice in Reno Nevada? Did you spill your drink on the way to the mailbox? Sorry to hear that, speedy recovery.
  7. Just so you know, the manufacturer of the gas shocks I used recommends that the shock be inverted so as to keep oil around the seal. But are they going to fail the way you have them, probably not. Interesting idea, I would think you would have to have a bright enough bulb so the backsplash of light can be seen illuminating the wheel well because once the car is on the ground the signal housing probably wouldn't be visible at all. Sort of like a slow strobe effect in amber?
  8. That is one of the old Ontario plates. It protected the hood emblem.

Hey she looks great, worth all the extra work to get what you want. Seeing that poor paint work for the first time must have been soul crushing, hope they cut you slack on the bill.

? can you please give us a link?
  11. Jason, your car looks fantastic, the best colour. Whitehead can certainly do everything you want them to, a professional shop. I'm not trying to take work away from them but by the time you have shipped your unit up here, added the OS Gilken, freshen it up and ship it back to KY you are going to be looking at some serious outlay of cash. The R200 is a simple diff and any reputable transmission/diff shop could handle it although it might be a good idea to order the correct bearings and seals yourself and along with the LSD unit and give the shop everything they need to do the job. I have also heard good things a bout the MFactory LSD.
  12. I'm laid up with "welders neck" right now, after many days in row of welding the 510 my neck said enough with flicking the helmet down with a sharp bop of the head, I guess I'm not 30 anymore.
  13. The quality of work you are doing is fantastic, it's a pleasure watch but the brake lines really stand out as not up to the same level as the rest of your work. Sheet metal ViseGrips wrapped in a few layers of masking or electrical tape will make a big difference in their appearance. I don't mean to criticize but just thought I would mention an easy fix.
  14. @Trnelson, can you drop a ruler down the center of both the old and new clutch cover so we can see the difference if any of the height of the spring fingers? The cover height is obviously different but the finger height could be the same but hard to tell from the photo.
  15. But then there is the 63-65 Riviera,
  16. I loved the 64 GTO, the look was so basic but they only gave that style 1 yr before they turned it into GM's Galaxy 500, anyone know why they ditched the 64 look so quickly?

Not sure why the floor pan rails aren't being reproduced by anyone yet, they certainly take a lot of abuse. Fortunately mine were in pretty shape except for some rust at the tail end, I got those finished up today and welded on. There is also a big hole in the rails just in front of those end pieces, comes like that from the factory. Maybe there was a rubber plug in there at one point but uncovered it just acts like a scoop picking up rain water from the road, I think I might weld those shut.

These aren't pristine but they are presentable, came off a 72 240, with a Hydrogen Peroxide treatment they might come out a bit whiter.
  19. All by hand or did you use a buffer of any kind? Plastic is so easy to melt with a buffer.
  20. That's because that model of air dam from Kameri is designed to mount under the stock chin valence but on this car the chin valence is missing and he has attached it too high up. This is one I bought a few yrs ago but haven't used yet.

I spent a lot of time using the conductive paint technique to try and get mine working and finally threw in the towel, such fiddly work. Now now I have 30% tint film on the glass and a working defroster grid probably would not be a good thing for it, I'm sure you have seen what happens over time with that combination.

I just cleared all cookies from my desktop and Hybridz started loading again. Where did you get that pic of me, that was taken a long time ago. 😉

Oooow, milling machine envy, still can't justify the cash outlay but once you have it and a lathe you make just about anything.
