  1. So if all traces of the original colour are gone you're in the unique position to choose any of the Datsun colours for your year that you like and I don't think anyone would fault you for it.
  2. No sound mat on the floor pans and firewall?
  3. I nominate @Av8ferg for POTUS and @Captain Obvious for VP, or the other way around would be okay too.
  4. Post a couple of photos, the guys here will narrow it down.
  5. A welded diff is a poor man's LSD. Driving on the street with a welded diff is hard on the diff and rear tires and eventually the diff will fail, driving on the track is okay because the there is enough speed to compensate for the inside wheel going the same speed as the outside wheel so the slippage isn't noticed. Or so I've been told.
  6. No need for that, haven't you heard, the swamp has been drained. It was an election promise.
  7. That looks like so much fun, it must sound amazing. Who needs a rad fan, it's either going full speed or it is turn off. He sure won't get what he put into it.
  8. @Racer X, @Pilgrim, @Av8ferg, so what do you guys think about the fix for the 737 Max? Other than its tendency to nosedive it really is a remarkable make over from the old version.
  9. @Sean Dezart, nice looking exhaust, where did you get that? 😉
  10. That really is an untouched car, I don't see any repairs to the bottom of the car, you did well. But by the time you do the exchange rate and shipping costs you will have paid your fair share. You say you will keep it for a while, if you are thinking just a couple of years then I would keep it all original, if you are going to hang onto for longer then all of those modifications listed above will really wake it up. Although the engine bay looks a mess at the moment I think you will find under all that ziebart and cosmoline pristine surfaces that will clean up very well. I hope you will post more pics as you take it through the clean up process.

It was freezing outside but I had to open the garage door to air it out, I wish I could have grabbed the camera faster, it was a little mushroom cloud.
  12. I'll bet he would have made the sale if he had removed the paint off the wheels and the name off of the rear spoiler.

Sorry, didn't see this, yes all by hand, English wheel and bead roller. Oops, I accidentally let some of the magic smoke leak out of the electrical system. I got the Can-am box wired into the ECU, I hadn't installed the 60amp fuse yet but wanted to quickly check to see if all the connections were correct. Bad call! The plastic coating on the 12ga wire vaporized before I could disconnect the power, seems I didn't notice the short between the 12v+ fastener and the housing. I thought for sure I would have to order a new relay unit but after correcting the problem (that nut is now where it's suppose to be, under the board) everything is working perfectly 14" wheels aren't the easiest to buy tires for but with @zKars advice I found these Falken AZENIS RT615k 195/60/14 and ordered 4, looking forward to trying these out, made in Japan. The electrical system is almost finished, just a few more gremlins to chase down before I can pull the driveline and mount it on the rotisserie.
  14. @zKars, thanks for the recommendation Jim, I found 4 in Quebec for $120 a piece, they look pretty sticky.

It's great stuff, particularly when a paper gasket is used, just the thinnest layer is needed but on both sides. It doesn't work so well if you use it by itself with no gasket, that has been my experience with it.

Most of the green stuff you can remove without consequence but I would be careful with the lip at the front of that area. You can cut it down in height but you should replace the horizontal lip as that is part of the structure. The orange areas you can not cut off without compromising the structure of the car, those are part of the subframe of the uni-body. If you like you could pick up a pair of drug bin lids and bolt them right on, the holes are already there.
  17. I don't think so, once it's all buttoned up it's a closed system, the way it was it had a reservoir above where the brake line attached. However, Wilwood MC's don't have a great reputation, there are a couple of guys here on the forum that have had to replace them more than once.
  18. The Rocker Arms Unlimited rockers seem to be more polished than how Delta does them, I wonder if that helps the break in.
  19. Those rubber steering rack mounts are the originals and once they get old the rack flops back and forth, a PO has made up those shims to try to get some of the slop out. The new poly mounts improve the steering feel.

Jump on it man, hope he takes your offer.
  22. Some pics of my 72/240,
  23. I can tell you there's not a heck of lot, I've been looking for tires for the same size wheel for my 510 and you either go for a full performance race tire or a El crapo tire for $69 bucks. If you come down to 195/--/14 the selection gets a smidge better.
  24. Building for eternity
