They might have reversed the hatch hinges, also the hatch seal is new and until it relaxes with time and heat it can push the hatch up. Can you take some pics of the hatch hinges? Normally there is plenty of adjustment room.
  2. Drive faster. Enjoy the powder!
  3. Is one of those three an inline oiler?
  4. That's a good one.
  5. Also it's a good idea to go to https://bringatrailer.com/auctions/ and have a look at how those cars are presented, the detail, angles and quantity of the photos, the kind of information that is needed to describe the car accurately. You might want to replace those two instruments and the starter yourself or have it done. Not having everything working properly will eliminate a lot of potential buyers, take photos of the VIN in all three places and dig up every bit of paper work you have on the car. Good luck, looks like a nice car.
  6. I've had the MSA header, meh, the stock engine doesn't get all that hot anyway but maybe in your part of the world you have to take that into consideration. If you do a search I don't think you'll find a lot posts saying how wonderful the MSA header is. If you search ZStory you will find many posts praising the beautiful sounds it makes, how well it lets the engine breath and of course how beautiful it is. Welcome to the forum by the way, we would all love to see your very original 240.

He's not comparing them, he's just saying what he would rather have. I doubt there is a single thing about Datsuns that has not already been discussed here, perhaps Mike should shut down the active forums and we can all just search the archives? I suggest you take the bug out of your azz, we don't need another prig on this forum.

Unless Nissan changed things on the just the 78 that is aftermarket, the original clamps would be the double wire with a phillips round head. AFAIK
  9. I have never used slanted washers but they are a good way to help align the nose of the diff for pinion angles, on modified cars with different engine/transmission combos sometimes you need that adjustability .
  10. Can't get much better than that.
  11. Whoa, damn that salty air.
  12. If you have had the rear cover off of your R200 you will have seen how deep those cover studs go and the supports around them. Whether the M bar lays flat against the cover or stands off with washers you're not going to see any movement or breakage if that is what concerns you. For the most part the diff just hangs from the M bar, when your taking a hard corner and put your foot into it as you exit the twisting will take place at the bushings at the end of the M bar.
  13. o Perceived quality, perceived value, ego, how is the guy who spends 6 figures on a modified car any different than the guy who spends 6 figures on an original car? I see no difference at all between them, both of them are getting a car to admire and drive, both of them are presumably happy with there purchase regardless of whether someone else thinks they are uninformed or not. If resale valve is the most important thing then I would argue you are in it for the wrong reason. Whether guys like to admit it or not, these cars we like to play with are just toys, they are not important or vital, we as a group are the ones that give them worth and take away that worth. Muscle cars from the 70's used to bring a lot more money than they do today, why, the cars themselves haven't changed, the only thing that has changed are peoples opinions of perceived worth.
  14. Let me introduce you to a few For the rest of our readers one of the national pastimes here is to hate on Toronto even though most Canadians have never been here, but I'm not really defending the place, I'll take it any day over Tehran.
  15. Maybe there was something wrong with my doors, there was a lot wrong with that car. Anyway glad it's working out for you, looking really good.
  16. Do you know when yours were made? I bought mine I guess about 7-8 yrs ago and they sure didn't fit like that.

ooooooowee that hurts to look at, they cut the roof off to get him out. Not sure if a roll cage would have even helped.
  18. How do these cars always end up at a dealership? It would be nice for a change to see the family of that original owner get all that cash. Nice car though.
  19. That is beautifully done, doesn't seem to have a trunk that can be opened or a top. A car for the SW.
  20. As you say, once it is painted dark green you might not even notice it, it looks pretty consistent in your latest photo.

CEO's embezzle money on a daily basis and they all say they are innocent but to his defense, his story about the Japanese government not wanting to see one of their prize corporations merge with Renault sounds like it might hold some water. They can be very protective of industry that is seen as part of the culture. I guess the trial will have to be all by video link because he can't set foot in Japan again.
  22. What does the other side look like? Would you consider adding an 1/8th" welding rod to the leading edge of the door?
  23. Thank you, I'll give that try.
  24. This turn signal unit is off of a 510 but it's the same mechanism, those 2 ears on the signal unit are pushed out into the path of the 2 posts on the underside of the steering wheel when you signal a turn. As soon as you turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction after completing your turn one of the posts will hit the ear and force it out of the way, canceling the signal and breaking the electrical contact. That's where you need to look, sometimes the posts or the ears get bent or broken off.
  25. I've never found a way to get them out without destroying it, the big gap in the ball bearings is suppose to be there, at least all four steering shafts I have torn down where the same. Basically all you can do pull the whole unit from the car, wipe away the big grease and spray it with brake cleaner or carb cleaner and blow it out with compressed air. Repeat that 5-6 times then repack it again with fresh bearing grease using the palm of your hand just like wheel bearing. Removing the top C ring #8 you can do by yourself but getting it back on is a 2 man job because you have that large spring to deal with. But it's worth it, steering movement is so smooth afterwards, it also give you a chance to clean the contacts on the column switches.
