  1. I was talking to Rob Fuller at ZCG about buying the big brake kit a couple months ago, the price is a bit high for me but I'm sure it's worth every penny. The one review I read said the stopping power was stunning, nice to see the finished version isn't red, yellow or neon gold.
  2. Good job, just one minor thing that could turn into major, the tie wraps on the outboard end of the boots go on the very end of the rubber so they are tight around the smooth section of the threaded rod. Where you have them now dirt can still get in and foul up the ball joint.
  3. Congrats on that brake conversion, if Gary ever puts together a brake package I'm sure it would generate a lot of orders. No boot on the ball joint, are you not concerned about premature wear from road sand? I'm a big fan of Yokohama, will have to check out the AD08R.
  4. That is a mild advance curve, usually that would be up at 34-37 by 3000 rpm.
  5. It will be very interesting to see the leak down results and to tear down the head, 15,000 miles is just broken in, a mystery waiting to be solved.
  6. That is pretty bad, you definitely win the award if you can bring that one back.
  7. That's my new wallpaper for the next month, gorgeous. Gotta love a deep dignified blue.
  8. ^ Agree, the rubber of the original insulator is not very compress-able, it's really there for vibration control. Can't see how the new unit is going to improve handling or anything for that matter. A thin disc of polyurethane will hold up better than thin rubber but won't help the vibration much.
  9. That's a nice looking Z. Interesting car stand, kind of a gear cranked teeter totter, did you buy it or make it?

Speed bleeders have worked very well for me for years, some times it is hard to find someone else to pump the brake pedal and speed bleeders make it a one man operation.

    Looks terrific.
  13. Maybe that is the new 2020 Z and they have it dressed up in camouflage so now one can guess what it looks like until the big reveal.?
  14. Some pics would be very helpful, how are the rockers, are they in good shape or rusted out? If the rockers are good bracing isn't needed. If the front seat support is good shape you can always just drill out the spot welds holding it to the floor pan but leave it attached to the trans tunnel and the inside rocker, that's lots of support.

    How the hell ...?
  16. Do you have any other info on this car? Thanks
  17. white trash?
  18. Oh good, another juicy one for my collection.
  19. Damn that crank is pretty, it's even aerodynamic on the edge of the balance weight to cut the air/oil. Don't even want to think of how much that set you back.
  20. Dry sump, ooooh that aint going to be cheap.
  21. @NVZEE, do you know if these guys have a thread going some where showing more detail? Got to find out what happened to the oil pan.

Vintage? I still think of that model as fairly recent They are a great truck, way back in 89 I drove one as a company vehicle for 2 yrs. Nothing fancy but well made and looks like the PO took very good care of it, that's a nice score.
  23. You can also use that same size copper tubing with both ends open, insert it into the full length of the hose, bend it to shape then install just as it is with no baking. The copper tube has to be about 3" shorter than the hose so there is room enough on either end for the hose to slip over the nipples. There is more than enough space inside the copper tubing to accomodate the vacuum needed by the booster.
  24. If the car is in poor shape structurally(rust bucket) then bracing is needed to maintain proper spacing but if the car is fairly sound and you only do one side of the floor at a time then you don't really need to brace, however you should leave the transmission mount/support in place to add some stiffness to the trans tunnel.
  25. This might be a bit out there but if the cause isn't found soon it might be worth a look, I disassemble all new hydraulic parts I purchase because I have found more than a few things wrong over the years, muck, grease, rust, sometimes the seals are installed backward or springs missing. I hope you don't have to go that far.
