Three-speed wipers
The intermittent wiper switch was added for the '73 model year. How did you manage to plug in your '72 switch? As I recall the earlier connectors are 2x4 (8 wires) and the 3x3 (9 wires) connector is needed for the extra switch position. If the headlights don't work you can repair the switch itself. I posted some instructions a while back. Here it is: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17688 A number of people have had good results with this.

Iridium Spark Plugs
That's the only credible way to evaluate claims of a performance boost by miracle products. Whether it's Slick 50 or Seafoam or anything else I'd believe it if the dyno results can back it up.

e-bay 240Z dash-$1,645.
It's special because most s30 dashes develop cracks over time and they are no longer available from Nissan. Fewer and fewer uncracked dashes are available so the price on them has been steadily climbing. This particular dash is not exactly NOS if it's not in the box and has been slightly damaged from being on display but it's likely in far better shape than any dash removed from a car.

Ziebart removal
Perhaps trykflyr can just wait a few months, leave the car outside overnight, and skip the dry ice part.

Has anyone used or recommend Alumiseal?
Now that is funny.

I was able to simply drag an image from FireFox to my desktop where it was saved as the original JPG file despite the fact that the context menu was disabled.

Yes, but what shipping company did you use? Some of them can't be trusted you know ...

Compression tester question
The spark plug size is your only concern and I think that 14mm is standard. 300psi is more than enough.

Did you check the clutch master cylinder level?

eBay audacity
It was specified as 'CA' but elsewhere 'Carolina'. Looking at the image of the title actually showed that it was from North Carolina.

Atlanta guy needs 240Z help
I drove my car there a couple of times a few years ago when it was on Saturday. It's close to my house. I felt totally out of place with all of the Cobras and Ferraris and Corvettes. In fact mine was the only Japanese car there. I'm glad to hear that some others have since been shown. I just put October 5th on my calendar and will do my best to make it back.

eBay audacity
I'd have to think there's a more legal way of going about it. Here in Georgia titles are not even required for old cars. My car sat in my garage for years without being driven and therefore wasn't insured and didn't have a valid license plate. I simply went to the local DMV and got it straightened out by paying back the taxes. Surely there's a method to properly reinstate a title and I'd have to think that it would cost less than $300 for the VINs, the time and effort to weld the new VIN into the firewall, and to repaint the firewall so that it's not completely obviously a fraud.

eBay audacity
If it were just a VIN tag I'd be less concerned. The fact that it includes the VIN cut from the firewall indicates that this auction has potential for serious abuse even if the action itself is perfectly legal.

Discussing 240Z values, especially Low VIN
One might go so far as to say that some of the early parts were later replaced with superior parts. Not just the really early parts that we're discussing here but things that were changed all along the production run. Nissan moved vents from the tailgate for a good reason. They upgraded the radio to add FM along with AM. Fully reclining seats are nice as are hatches beneath the rear deck in place of plastic tool bins. The lighted heater control panel for '73 was arguably better. To me this is just the way collectibles work. People place higher value on things that are somehow special, usually attributed to "rarity". My classic example is Barry Bond's record breaking 756th home run ball which sold for $752,467. To me it's a used baseball that's worth less than a new baseball. He's hit a few more since then, also record breakers but since he's breaking his own record it's not as special as breaking Hank Aaron's record. The low number thing has also made me wonder. In the world of artwork limited-edition prints or cast sculptures are numbered. Smaller runs are worth more and lower numbers are worth more because the quality goes down as more and more copies are produced. That may be the reasoning used for lower VINS being better but the quality of cars is likely just the opposite. Early cars might have had hand welding later to be replaced by higher quality machine welding.

Wild Z Ride at Mid-Ohio
I'm not saying I'm happy to see a 350Z totaled like that, just that it can be replaced with a new model whereas if it had been a 240Z chances are the driver would have been injured more and the car wouldn't be as replaceable. I do believe you are correct about the driver walking to the ambulance; I had skipped over those pictures the first time through.

Besides hoping that the driver was not injured am I the only one who's thinking "I'm glad it was a 350Z and not an S30"

HI from a new Member
Will, I can't help but notice that you're practically a neighbor of Larry. It might be worth a short trip to see what appears to be a very nice '70 once it arrives. While I've never knowingly been to Bluffton I do own shares in some family property in Beaufort and have driven between there and Savannah many times. I'll probably be back down there sometime next month for a wedding.

Would you patch or cut and weld
Another option is the POR-15 Floor Pan & Trunk Restoration Kit. This is what I ended up using on mine but my rust was less severe. It's a combination of POR15, epoxy putty, and a fiberglass mesh.

Fairlady 432 on sale in Japan
5,000,000.00 JPY = 46,405.87 USD according to http://www.xe.com It certainly does not seem to be in very good condition from the three pictures provided. Perhaps someone who can read the complete ad will be able to let us know what we're missing.

Paul Newman
While I've never seen him in person he actually owns a house less than a mile from mine. Even though he's always been a very private person he has been spotted shopping like the rest of as at the Home Depot and SuperTarget.

Thanks for checking. After doing the manual work to fix the problem I looked again and noticed that there is a complete revision history and the ability to roll back changes so hopefully people won't have to worry about having to re-key everything.
-

Ouch. Yes, it looks like someone accidentally sorted only the spreadsheet VIN column leaving the other data in place. Unfortunately there's no revision history to allow undoing changes like that. Fortunately I had downloaded a copy of the spreadsheet a few weeks ago and was able to manually copy and paste VIN numbers back into place. Right now only Diseazd, rv6aflyer and Sailor Bob don't have VIN numbers because their data is more recent than my backup. If anyone else reading this who previously entered data could quickly verify their own info that would be great. And please, be careful out there.

If the door jamb tag is missing the VIN will almost certainly give us a close production date. Feel free to add your car to the online spreadsheet listed in my signature. Doing that will show you other cars made around the same time.

Finding an old Friend - - or it's a small world..
It's not clear to me if Bill Jones even knows this yet. If so, what has his response? I'm sure it's sad to see it in that condition.

They are gna tow my Z!!
Your apostrophe key appears to be broken. While wont is actually a word I suspect you were trying to use the contractions for both "you are" and "will not".
