How Close Are Our VIN #'s
It looks like several people have made changes. As you can see I added the link to my signature; strangely enough that signature change seems to affect all of my previous posts.

High freq. vibe above 70mph
I'd temporarily swap the front and rear wheels to see if that changes the vibration. It could be a tire balance issue.

Maaan am I embarassed...
I started to mention the 0-100-0 tests. I recall seeing one such test where the bike was back down to 0 before any of the supercars even hit 100. On the other hand I also just read where an F1 race car managed 0-100-0 in 5.9 seconds. It all comes down to Newton's second law of motion: Force = Mass * Acceleration Take a sport bike with very little mass and give it some power and you've got a lot of acceleration. For typical street cars/bikes it's simply no contest.

How Close Are Our VIN #'s
Presumably due to the resurgence lately of this old thread several people have PM'd me recently asking for permission to edit this spreadsheet. Since it's a lot of work to make people ask me for permission, add them to the list, and then have them go login I decided to look for an alternative. I found something called EditGrid that seems to allow public read/write access without logging in. I created a login for myself and uploaded the current spreadsheet here: http://www.editgrid.com/user/mlwilliams/Z_Car_Registry Can some of you try to enter some new data and see if the collaboration part works?

How to De-Tune a Z
I was also wondering if a thicker head gasket would help but if it truly requires 109 octane I'm not sure if that would be enough to get it down to even premium gas. In other words, the compression ratio might go from something like 14:1 down to 12.5:1 which is still quite high.

Price for Almost PERFECT Rear Bumper
In your original post you state that you saw one in exactly the same condition sell on eBay for $500. Are you hoping that people here will give a higher number? It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. That number will obviously vary depending on who's looking and when. If you're trying to maximize the selling price then your best bet is to put it on eBay and hope that people get into an irrational bidding war over it. If you're worried about not getting enough for it then put a high reserve price or high starting price on it.

In addition to Arne's list the heater control panel is lighted on 73's.

Petronix ignition install for 240Z
I don't recall having any problems with my installation. To help clarify what Enrique is describing I've attached a picture of my setup.

Acetone in your gas!!!
I only remember them blowing up the cement mixer that way but I haven't been watching it lately. Here's a site that lists all of the results: http://mythbustersresults.com/

72 240z won't start
Since it's highly unlikely that the transmission shop decided to adjust your floats I'd by inclined to think that the problem is a result of the car sitting for so long. One possibility is a cracked hose that is causing the fuel pump to suck air. I'd start by adding a clear fuel filter such as this: http://performanceparts.com/part.php?partID=38377 It allows you to see that fuel is actually flowing from the pump and has the added benefit of letting you see if the filter is starting to get clogged from debris in the tank. If you find that you're not getting fuel into the filter then my next step would be to run a fuel hose from the suction side of the pump directly into a can of fuel.

Rebuild L28
I agree with Arne. Before assuming the worst I'd clean the engine up using a de-greaser or take it to the local coin operated car wash. After running the engine a bit the source of the leak should become more obvious. It could be something simple like the oil pan gasket.

Heater function switch
If you've got any air blowing at all the problem is in the passenger compartment. Each of the sliding controls simply actuates a damper at the other end of a cable. They should be easy for you to follow. It's possible that one of them came loose at the far end.

Cool Stuff in the glove box
That's interesting. On the warranty card the 903 is obviously the paint code. Any idea what the 807 represents?

Nissan Decompensating
It's quite disturbing to me that someone belonging to this club can be so xenophobic and ignorant of history. I'm sorry that our members residing in France have to read such nonsense. Those of us who wish Nissan success in the future should be happy that Carlos Ghosn helped turn the company around. For a short history refresher some of you might recall the time that the French saved the US pansy asses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Yorktown_%281781%29

'71 that was on Craigs list now on Ebay
I wish I could take credit for it but I don't even know who it belongs to or where I took the picture. I think it was at a local club meeting.

yankee doodle
My local fireworks show was almost canceled due to the extreme drought but they got smart and realized things would be better with a controlled professional show than a bunch of people shooting stuff off at home.

Deciphering head serial number
I'd never noticed this stamp before. It's hard to see with the valve cover, fuel lines, and air injector tubes in the way. Mine actually has two different stamps, one near the front and one near the rear of the head. Mine doesn't even have a number but does have the same crooked FF and a G at the end but no numbers in between.

L26 vs L28
2.8 / 2.6 = 1.0769 Is it as simple as that?

'71 that was on Craigs list now on Ebay
I had trouble recently - the "manage attachments" button was gone - but it's back and I was able to attach a picture yesterday. At what point does it fail?
