corrrect placment of a fairladyz emblem on 260z
As someone else suggested, why not look for a picture? I went to the galleries here and did a search for "fairlady". Here was one of the first hits: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=11557&sort=1&cat=all&page=2

Stupid Engine Question
Well actually the four cylinder was a copy of a Mercedes inline six with two cylinders removed so Nissan essentially added the two back on their own as you say ...

awful time with Victoria British
Unfortunately you can have problems with any supplier. Someone mentioned Courtesy being good while others have complained about them in the past - especially their prices and supposed discount to club members. I've had good service from MSA and VB with a few minor hiccups. MidwestZ was always great but now they're apparently gone. I certainly understand your frustration and can easily understand not wanting to do business with them again. Suppliers who continually offer bad service will lose enough customers that someone else will come along.

Poll: Should we prevent gallery downloads?
If possible, the ultimate solution would be to allow the user to decide at the time of upload. I personally don't care if anyone downloads my images. On the other hand, I strongly feel that if someone does not want their images downloaded they are entitled to make that well known.

COMBINATION SWITCH!!! (for 72)
A while back I posted a pdf file with instructions and pictures showing how I repaired my switch. Even though I was working on the headlight portion the same information should still apply. There are actually two rocker plates that are controlled by the same cam on the stalk. It's simply a matter of cleaning off the carbon deposits on the contact points.

spindle pins removal
You left out an important step: remove the locking bolt that fits in the vertical slot in the middle of the pin. If you forget that the tool isn't going to work. :stupid:

I need an american to help me out !
Interesting. I bought that years ago. A while back Stephen (sblake01) was looking to replace a lost copy and I sold him mine. Perhaps if he ever finds the one he lost he can pass one on ...

Ripped off?
That's my understanding. What you can do is link to the original author's picture. For instance, look at this really nice car: <img width="640" height="480" src="http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/1490Full.jpg" border="0" alt="Full" /> In this case I haven't copied your image but rather provided a link to your original source. If you later decide you don't want anyone seeing your photo you take it down and the link is broken. Actually, in this case you've given classiczcars.com your permission to use your photo so you'd have to ask that entity to remove it.

Ripped off?
I completely agree. Clearly if someone makes a copy of your photo they should ask permission before using it publicly. If they refuse to obey your request to stop then I'd say that's bordering on criminal behavior. I used to have an entire book and photography and the law and it's quite clear. PS - Did you get my PM?

Long Term Parking Brake Use
Out of habit I engage the parking brake and leave the transmission in gear. If you're ever parked on a slope this will provide more resistance to rolling. I suppose it's kind of silly to always do this since my garage (all garages?) are perfectly flat. All new cars won't allow you to turn the starter over if the clutch pedal is not depressed.

Home-market HS30 options
I agree that it's sad to see Kats need to take time off. I suppose if I shipped my car half way around the world for a car show my wife might question my sanity even if I did end up with the best car at the show. I've noticed lately that a number of people have expressed the desire to leave this community for one reason or another. I hope that we can all encourage people to stay around even if it's at a diminished level of activity.

Some of you are lucky
Sounds like fun. I have a colleague who just arrived in California from his home in Adelaide. He said the weather back home has been quite cold and nasty whereas San Jose, CA is experiencing unusually hot weather lately.

71 240z seatbelt replacements
Unfortunately, to use the retracting seatbelts out cars made after about January of 1972 you need to already have the pockets in the floor that the restractors fit into. These started appearing around Sept of 1971 even though cars made then still used non-retracting seat belts.

More horses
I would make absolutely sure that the engine is performing as expected. Have you driven other 240Z's or know anyone who has one? If the car is not tuned properly the performance will be awful and adding headers, etc. won't do much good.

POR-15 on diff.
I'm not sure if it's the fumes or the mist. I used a organic filter even while brushing but the instructions indicate that you really need to be careful when spraying: "Most people brush it on, but many spray also. Proper equipment and organic vapor particulate respirators for solvents are essential for spraying."

Help! Will a 78 2+2 fender fit a 240?
MSA sells fenders and lists a single part number for 1970-1978.

What I did Labor day weekend.
Wow, that looks like more than a weekend worth of work to me. How did you do it? I spent much of yesterday cleaning out the garage so that I could get my daily driver back in behind the 240Z. I had been parking it outside for about the last 6 months. This morning I looked out the window and noticed a huge oak tree limb had fallen exactly where I had been parking. It would have crushed in the roof and/or broken the windshield. Thanks you tropical storm Frances.

Choke Re-Mounting
The top of the aluminum bracket is about 3/4 of an inch above the tunnel. As I recall it was just a trial and error sort of fit where I kept using a hacksaw to remove pieces of the alluminum until it worked.
-
Choke Re-Mounting
I just sent this via e-mail but it might be useful to others so I'll post it here. Years ago I created an aluminum bracket that I mounted the choke cable bracket to. It's attached to the transmission tunnel with a couple of sheet metal screws. This setup means that no pressure is applied to the plastic center console when the choke handle is moved. It also makes the console easier to remove. As always, keeping the choke cables properly lubricated goes a long way towards making the mechanism move easier.

Ebrake light
Keep in mind that on most cars the light also comes on when there's an imbalance in the braking system between the front and rear brakes.
