I'm afraid that finding a donor is you're best option but that won't be easy since this area is a common problem. I'd also be sure to properly take care of the surrounding metal that is still solid but at risk.

I don't see anything like that on my '72. Where do the wires go? Is this an automatic?

I can't really comment on the quality of the RC chassis itself; my buddy, who's serious about RC racing, claimed that it's more of an entry level car. I just thought that the body itself was nicely detailed and realistic. The BRE car also looks very nice.

Courtesy currently lists them at $43.44 each. Black Dragon lists them for $34.95 for the left side and and $29.95 for the right. http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/z/full.aspx?page=16 http://www.courtesyparts.com/240z-260z-280z-parts-s30-1970-1978/body-exterior/-c-7724_7759.html
  6. Interesting but dangerous. "Performed on enclosed road". What does that mean? They blocked traffic going in their direction? Clearly there was actual traffic on the other side of the grass median.
  7. Yes, it's quite simple. I would advise having another person help as it's easy to scratch the paint accidentally. The bumpers are obviously quite light but can be slightly unwieldy. I'd remove the end bolts first and then perhaps wrap some bubble wrap or a towel around each end. Then remove the center brackets from the car itself, leaving the brackets attached to the bumper. The whole assembly will then slide forward and out.
  8. I suppose the other option would be to list it with other coolant hoses and connectors but it really is part of the heater system.
  9. No, even the center of the island of Hawaii is no more than 30 miles from the coast. For Oahu it's more like 10 miles from the center. However, the bulk of the population is close to the coast.

Welcome. Post some pictures. If you're lucky the wheels you want to get rid of are valuable to someone else. What size fit best depend completely on what you're trying to do. Some people like the stock look. Others like rolling around on 18" rims and tires that look like black rubber bands.

Does this mean 6.8K, i.e., 6800rpm, or does the 68K refer to something else?

There is a lot of rust showing but it's hard to tell just how bad it is from the pictures. As has been mentioned you have to physically inspect it and poke at potential problem areas. The thing that concerns me the most about this car is the extra bodywork. The skirt along the bottom could be covering a lot of rust that is common in those areas. The fender flares might have been done right or they might have been bonded over more rust with a lot of filler and then covered up with a nice paint job. I'd be sure to take a magnet as well as tools to poke things with and a good flashlight. Edit: The above was only after looking at your first batch of pictures. The ninth picture in the second batch is scary.

Welcome. You can simply post the pictures as attachments in this very thread. Just post a new message and in advanced mode scroll down and click the "manage attachments" button. You'll then be presented with a way to upload image files.
  14. Simply out of curiosity, how would they know? Here in the Atlanta area 25+ year old cars are exempt from emissions testing so I don't have to worry about my 240Z. 1985-1995 cars are tested on a dyno with a sensor in the tail pipe. 1996 and newer cars are tested simply with the car's existing on board diagnostics. It seems to me that as long as what comes out the tailpipe is clean enough it shouldn't matter. In the specific case of California can I assume that an in depth inspection must take place and that the inspectors are such experts that they can differentiate between carbs from one year to the next? Would they really notice if you put 4 screw SUs from a 1970 240Z on a 1971 240Z?

I first used a Mac 512K in 1985. They were a big upgrade from the original Mac which only had 128K of memory. In my house I currently have an iMac that I bought for my son when he was 2. We upgraded him to a Mac Mini when they came out. I also have various PCs; some of them run Windows (XP and Vista) and some of them run Linux and some dual boot for both. The one thing they all have in common is that they're good at some things and frustrating at others. None of them are perfect. I'm always wary of anyone who proclaims one specific platform superior to all others.

As I recall it requires a little effort. It's been a while and would likely come naturally to me if I were at the car but I think you have to separate the housing in such a way that you can first remove the air filter itself. Once the filter element is out the cover can clear the horns and strut tower.
  17. That is kind of sad. It makes me wonder if the founder knew when to get out or if the new owners didn't know what they were doing. I find some of the large machinery interesting. Here's a machine that's been in use since 1938. It may well have been purchased years ago from some other operation that went out of business: http://liquitec.gsdesign.com/auctions/crane-cams-inc/itemdetail.php?referencenumber=820

Welcome. For 72 there was only a mechanical pump. The electric pump near the tank was added to later models.

It's a separate piece that is attached using the same two bolts that hold the bottom of the striker plate: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=5616

Yes, that's on the door itself but there's also the spring-loaded part that the dovetail slides against on the latch side which is missing in the other photo. Without that I don't think that dovetail would do any good.

I just ran out and checked mine but I'm not certain that I'm measuring in the right place because I get right at 9mm which is 0.354". This is the widest part of the small cylinder at the bottom of the SU dipstick. As far as I know these are original SUs from a 9/71 car.
  23. That sounds like a nice solution. Without rubber what allows it to form a watertight seal? Do you have any pictures?
  24. that sounds goot to ne one have ne pics that show the new flush mount lights on a car I translate it as: "That sounds good too. Anyone have any pictures that show the new flush mount lights on a car?" The difficulty in translation certainly makes me less inclined to offer assistance.
  25. My first concern was valve interference when the chain slipped but since your pistons have valve reliefs you should be fine.
