Seat belt clips
I've got a pair of seat belt clips and am trying to figure out where they attach. I've searched these groups, the galleries here, and the parts CD with no luck. I'm assuming that they mount just behind the side windows through holes in the front edge of the quarter window plastic trim. There are three holes along the forward edge of the trim piece. The top hole is obviously for the coat hanger hook as it has a small index hole next to it. It's the other two that I'm not sure about. The lower hole provides access to a threaded hole in the unibody. The middle hole provides access to a thin metal tab that has a small hole in it and which appears to have once had a screw mounted there. Both the middle hole and the lower hole are too small for the standard plastic rivets. Therefore, which one does the seat belt clip use and what is the other used for?

Can't find where these panels go????
Just in case anyone wants to know what a tool box liner looks like after being pulled out see the attached picture. It turns out I've only got one liner. I may use some leftover dynamat inside the tool boxes instead.

Glovebox Door
That's strange. I'm positive my '72 has a metal piano-style hinge. I've never seen plastic. Can you post a picture?

Can't find where these panels go????
When you're editing a post (not using the quick mode) just scroll to the bottom and click on the "Manage Attachments" button to add your picture. There seems to be a size limit of 1024x768 on pictures. Like Ed I can't think what that might be.

Can you post a picture showing them alongside a ruler?

Tie down hook color?
I'd like to see the pictures if you get a chance. I wonder if there were any variations here throughout the production run?

Tie down hook color?
Excellent. I just painted it black. Is it true there was one on both sides? The one I have hooks down to the left so I assume it goes on the right side. On the front of the car - on the left - there's a different tie down that's a ring. What was on the right front?

Tie down hook color?
What color were the rear tie down hooks - those mounted in conjunction with the bumper bracket - originally on a 240Z? I took mine off years ago but recently found one in an old tool box and would like to clean it up and put it back on.

I need some parts. Anyone have these?
I could help you with the window cracks but I don't live close enough.

Bombings in London
I'm certainly glad that you're personally safe in light of the tragic events so close to home. I know that the people of London will get through this just as they have in the past. I already have plans to be back there in September and will not let this deter me.

Bombings in London
I'm sure we'll hear from him sooner or later. When I met with him in London he explained that he avoids public transportation and willingly pays the extremely high fees associated with keeping a car in the city.

ZMax Power Formula
Interesting choice of words since the higher the octane the less volatile the fuel, i.e., the more resistant to detonation. I suspect there's a perception out there that race cars use high octane and therefore high octane must make cars fast. In reality race cars must use high octane because of high compression ratios. Modern cars that "require" premium fuel do so for the same reason: they have higher compression ratios. If your car does not ping under load then higher octane does you absolutely no good. It simply costs you more. It is true that premium fuels may have better detergent additives than the cheap stuff but that's a separate issue. I agree that the main effect of most additives is to make the owner feel better.

What effect would an octane booster provide?

Need tire info please
This may help you: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html The stock tire size is roughly 175/70/14 although the profile wasn't listed in those days and it might have been closer to 175/75/14.

Bombings in London
Same here. I know that Alan lives very close to a couple of the locations involved.

Z dies during high speed acceleration
I would say that punching it in the highest gear is the best way to make sure it's not pinging.

Cam rotaion relative to crank rotation?
You're right. I see no reason the cam would have to turn in the same direction as the crank. However, since most cams are chain driven it's only natural for them to turn in the same direction. All the cam is doing is opening the valves. For it to turn in the opposite direction it would have to be ground in the mirror image to keep the valve timing the same. Here's a timing gear kit that replaces the timing chain on a Mini Cooper. Note that it has three gears to keep the rotation direction the same as stock: http://www.slarkraceengineering.co.uk/camshaft_kit.htm

How Close Are Our VIN #'s
I'd be happy to create the database and add the engine casting number. As far as the ZHome listing goes I submitted my information a couple of times but it never seemed to make the list. I don't know what support there is for something like this in the software that runs this site; that would obviously be the best way to go. Members could simply fill out their information - perhaps in your user profile - and have it immediately available to everyone.

How Close Are Our VIN #'s
What we need here is a database. I'd be happy to put something together. I suppose no one would have a problem submitting just their member id, build date, and VIN, but it would be cool to also track other things like color (original and current), options, mileage, purchase date, etc.

2-Way Radios (FRS/GMRS)
Mine don't have a microphone jack or voice activation feature if that's what you're referring to.

2-Way Radios (FRS/GMRS)
I bought a really cheap pair of Cobra radios to use on a cruise. They're much smaller than other radios I've used. Since most of these types of radios eat through batteries the models that come with rechargeable are the best to have. Even though mine came with the rechargeable battery packs and a charger you can replace the battery pack with 3AAA batteries in a pinch. I would say don't pay for more unless you really need the extra features of a high-end radio. What I got is similar to this: http://www.sureneeds.com/sureneeds/pr1452vp.html

How good is the oem cassette player in an early 260z?
One option is to install a modern system somewhere hidden (in toolbox or under seat) and leave the stock radio just for looks. You can even get something with a CD changer and a remote control. If your early 260 is anything like my 240 there's only one lousy speaker and the stock radio doesn't have much output. Without new speakers whatever you try isn't going to be very good. I would never advocate cutting holes anywhere for new speakers as some have done but lots of people have added a pair in a custom enclosure back near the taillights.

240z shell
Did you trailer it home? If so you were probably just a few miles from me on you way back ...

That looks like it may be the car that Will just bought off of eBay mentioned a few posts up.

Front air dam does not fit... What is it?
50-1402 looks the same as my urethane 50-1411. That one comes with holes for the turn signals beneath the bumper. I had to drill holes to get things mounted but nothing as extreme as what you had to do.
