Colorado 240Z (1972) 240Z FOR SALE!!!! CHEAP!!
Why don't you find a friend with more space who will let you park it for, say, $20 a month? I'm afraid that your parent's deadline is forcing you to make an unwise decision. If the car is in as good a shape as you claim you'll eventually be able to find someone who will buy it for a lot more than you're willing to settle for now; it just may take some time.

seat reco
It's not very hard to completely recover the seats yourself. Plenty of places sell a pair of new seat covers (bottom and back for both seats) for under $200 US. You may need to add to that a small amount if the straps under the seat need replacing and another $90 or so per seat if you want to completely replace the foam core.

Colorado 240Z (1972) 240Z FOR SALE!!!! CHEAP!!
Something's not right here. You claim to have an almost rust-free 240Z that you're planning on taking to the dump if no one pays you a little money for it?

What degree thermostat do I use?
Forgive me for my ignorance but it doesn't seem like it would make much difference. Presumably your engine won't overheat until it's well above the boiling point of water (212 F). With proper antifreeze your boiling point should be over 250 F. In either case, both thermostats would be wide open at that point and therefore have the same effect on a hot engine. If you're engine wants to overheat at that point it seems like the problem would be elsewhere in the cooling system (radiator, water pump, etc.)

Screws from License Plate Light
How concerned are you with originality? I recently fixed mine using some long machine screws (non metric) and matching nuts which I ground down on a bench grinder to make them small enough to fit in the square plastic holes.

De-bugging the fuel Warning Lamp
If one of the wires to the light is always hot then that means that the circuit is grounded when the tank level is low. You should be able to manually ground it and verify that it lights up.

1971 240Z Factory Restore
That's my understanding, but as always, keep in mind that there's no clean cut distinction between model years. It's probably only safe to say that reclining seats started appearing sometime in the fall of 1971.

1971 240Z Factory Restore
My 72 (very early 9/71 build date) has reclining seats.

Pedal date Bingo
Mine's the same; I think that's the norm.

OT: Raffle: Boxter for $100
I'm fairly certain this is an illegal form of gambling. After all, what's a used 2000 Boxster worth? Certainly far less than the $70,000 they'd make if they managed to sell all 700 tickets.

Color code decal
Nope, it's just a regular belt that happens to have rounded ridges on the outside; I'm not sure why. Here's on place to buy stickers and decals: http://www.zzxdatsun.com/

Color code decal
You can see where the decal should be in the very bottom right corner of this picture. I peeled off my decal and you can see the original green paint beneath it. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=5340&password=&sort=7&thecat=500

Name that symbol ...
I recall previous discussions of people finding factory inspection papers hidden in various parts of the car. I just noticed a hand painted marking on my dash frame right where the steering column bolts up. I'm hoping this doesn't say "defective" or something like that. Who has the answer?

Tonight it's on
My TiVo recorded it just fine on DirecTV channel 232 at 8:30PM EST. I thought it was a good show; lots of pre-production shots of 240Z models and drawings. The show covered the entire Z/ZX range in 30 minutes. Technically is seemed fairly accurate with the notable exception of continually calling the latest model the 350ZX.

Pedal date Bingo
Nothing on my clutch pedal. I think this contest is a scam and everyone who enters should get the prize. Here's the brake pedal:

clock
You can either remove the heater control panel or the glove box to get to the clock. Both methods have advantages and disadvantages. You can search old discussions here for the details. As I recall, there's a guy on the net who repairs clocks and/or sells repaired clocks. I don't have the link right now but I'll look for it ...

why dont we see gt wings on zs?
I heard a story a while back about a kid with a soap box derby car. After he won the race he was asked why he painted his car black. Expecting a childish answer the adult asking the question was shocked when the kid explained that the sun caused the black surface to warm up faster thereby causing the air in close proximity to expand and therefore making his car faster due to the lower drag caused by thinner air.

Original Rebuild from Nissan
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that your car was not authentic. Just the opposite; since I knew yours was I thought perhaps the certificate on EBay was a fake if you didn't have one also.

Original Rebuild from Nissan
So you don't have the certificate? I'm not trying to be rude here; I'm just curious and you seem to be avoiding my repeated question. The car on EBay shows this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2448140715&indexURL=9&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting Yet you don't mention having one with your factory restoration.

So you don't have a certificate? Do you think it's a scam?

why dont we see gt wings on zs?
The last time I brought this up (what good is a wing on the back of a front wheel drive car?) I was told that it helps when cornering. I suppose any downforce is good if it doesn't add too much weight or drag, but it's fairly obvious to me that wings on street cars is done 99% for the looks only by people who actually think they look good or make the car look faster.

Original Rebuild from Nissan
Do you have a certificate like the one in the photo on EBay?

A good one
That's actually not that funny as it first seems considering that Macauly Caulkin is one of many children to have voluntarily participated in sleepovers at the Neverland ranch. What were the parents of all these kids thinking?

Any Ideals?
It's hard to tell from the picture how big the broken tool is but you may be able to take a really small drill bit and drill a bunch of small holes completely around the perimeter. If you're unable to salvage the threads you can always just put a washer and loose nut on the back side. That attachment point is really just to keep the bumper ends from moving up and down; it doesn't require much strength.
