  1. I have had similar problems with an order for a set of brake caliper pistons. They came from three different warehouses and they wanted to charge three shipping charges. Ended up buying them on E-bay. That is a good trick you found. Chas
  2. OMGLOL, that an old tv series. Brings back memories. Back in the good old days when we were........... Chas
  3. Looks like the donor has already had a brake upgrade with the Toyota calipers up front. Does it still have the rear drums or is there a discs upgrade for the rear? Just interested in what combination the PO used. Looking at the photo of the donor frame rail. It doesnt look to bad rust wise, but thats going by one photo. Nice find, turbo engine with a 71C tranny:D Chas
  4. Rock Auto will deliver to Norway no problems via FedEx. I have used them and they are quick. Takes about a week to 1-1/2 weeks via Paris. Be aware when ordering different items, sometimes they come from different warehouses and that drives the shipping costs up a lot. You could also try Rock Auto in the UK, might be quicker but it probably wont be much cheaper. Chas

A small leak into the car can be enough to fill the car with fumes. Zeds are known for it. I would start by checking the following: 1: Hatch seal and alignment. 2: Taillight gaskets and the grommet for the numberplate light. (the grommet can be too big for the cable) 3: Fuel tank piping. Especially the small ones that the grommets are good. 4: The frame rails in the car that go forward from the taillights. There is a grommet just behind the frame for the deck. Check all the screws are in the rail. I had this problem and these grommets are what was causing it. 5: Extend the exhaust pipe and check it for leaks. 6: Fit a BRE spoiler. Dont think things are OK. Check it to be sure. Chas

The compound would be more likly be Nitrile or Fluroelstomer (Viton) rubber. Both compounds have little problem with fuel or oil vapour. Silicone is not compatable for fuel or lubricating oil and will swell and deteriate quickly. Chas
  10. Im using NGK BP6ES and they seem to work fine for me. The last time I had the plugs out the were a nice clean colour. This set has about 800 miles on them. Chas
  11. I am afraid this will only get worse. Your lucky your in the states, the Zeds were more popular there. I picked up a battery yesterday. Mine finnally gave up after 10 years. I asked for a battery to suit a Datsun 280Z at the only aftermarket shop in our town and he said: Is that a Dacia? I thought he was joking, but he was serious, he had never heard of a datsun..... Luckly I took the top support so I could search through his stock for the biggest one that would fit. Chas
  12. Have you tryed Courtesy Nissan? If anyone can find parts, they are generally the best shot. Chas

The wheels look good on the photo. I have been interested in these for a while, but keep reading issues about rubbing. How much is sticking out a little? It could be bushings. If the rear section holding the control arms has shifted to one side it would also change the toe-in on the rear wheels. Are the inner lips on the guards rolled? That can be enough to make the difference. Out of interest: What tyres are you using? Chas
  14. I dont think this will ever be my mission here in the Netherlands:mad:. Finding a JY that has any part of a Z here is like winning the lottery.
  15. Bart, You missed one vital bit of info. Origin: Noth american (US) market, Series II. Also makes a difference.
  16. Looking good for the summer:cool:
  17. Your might want to try an add in the Classifieds section on this site and add a couple of photos always helps. More details, is it complete with carbs etc. Chas

I would be more concerned about the fumes getting into the car, not what is causing it. You dont want carbon monoxide poisioning. When you have the window down it changes the air flow through the car and actually can cause negative pressure. This will draw air in from all places that are not sealing. I would check the hatch seal and sealing around the taillights etc. Then move onto the rich running problem.
  19. Hi Bart, You might want to read this thread. What Gearboxs Fit It will give you an idea what the possibilities are. Chas

I can hear it at 1:10 - 1:20 but I have no idea what it could be. Strange that it wouldnt do it when you was listening at the engine. Recording from outside the window makes it hard to determine where it could be coming from. Do you notice anything with the engine, hesitation or drop in power? Is the hood closed when it does it? Vibration could be making the hood rub on something. Just thinking out of the box.... A stethoscope could help a lot if you can get it to do it while testing it. Internal sounds get muffled a lot and a stethoscope can overcome that to a degree. If you use a screwdriver, use one with a big handle so it covers your ear better. Be carefull because you need to get close to things and you tend to concentrate on finding the noise and not your own safety. Chas
  21. Hi Bart, I agree with Koalia. Finding an original 71A will be hard to find. They also have a fibre fifth gear synchro which is known for wearing out and is NLA. Better to go for a 71B out of a 280Z or 280ZX. The cosmetic differences are minimal. Chas
  22. If you are going to stroke it and add a turbo, I would start with a F54 block. The F54 has extra webbing in the water jackect between cylinders 1 - 2, 3 - 4 and 5 - 6 often also called siamesed cylinders. The F54 is considered to be the stronger of the two L28 blocks and is the block originaly used for the turbo engines.
  23. Hi, Im just back from a holiday in Ibiza where I had the worst WiFi connection ever:angry:. Holiday was great though:cool:. Could not load any of your photos till now. Looks good btw. Engine is cleaning up nicely. Chas

My compression tester has a quick conector that fits my ompressor hose. Ideal for a leakdown test..
  25. Yno problem, Dont know why they didnt figure that out themselves? I went to my local nissan dealer with that same p/n: and he gave me the new one, said it would fit no problems and it did:classic:
