A bit pricey but he has stuff I can find NOWHERE else!
  2. You might just be delaying the inevitable, My vents had broken off bolts also and i tried the JB weld route -- just a waste of money. My suggestion is find new unbroken ones on Ebay, there's some on there all the time....That area of the hood gets a lot of vibration and HEAT and even JB weld prob won't help.

with the PRP w/s kit i put on about a month ago, which actually kinda worried me. The door closed perfectly with the new seals but i guess the 78's have more clearance than the early Z's. Got mine from zspecialties.com
  4. the two door seals from Precision and they fit great. No adhesive needed. I expected the doors to give me problems from the outset after installation. But both doors close fine. Maybe it's not sealing properly. Should this worry me? Now i have only 16 more pieces to go.

youd want to put a larger wattage bulb in the dome light. Those lenses are brittle enough. More wattage could speed that process up
  7. I'd have to agree with the steering coupler bolts. There was one that was a real bitch plus you have to get some pressure on it while bending over into the engine bay! I fnally used a cigarette lighter to get it to come loose. Heat works well. After that, prob anything to do with the internal heater hoses.
  8. Paintscratch.com?
  9. Never noticed that, thanks. The zeddsaver one must be for 70-76 Z's
  10. one to the one on Zeddsaver.com and you'll notice the difference.
  11. I'm a bit confused, the paint code decal shown on Zeddsaver.com has the words "Paint Amino Alkyd Enamel" along the bottom, but in my 1978, my worn out original paint code decal has NO words along the bottom. Is one style for earlier 240s? and one for 280s? Or are there two types of paint code decals out there? I want to get one of these repros but i'm not sure which one is correct version for a 78. Thanks, Nick

  16. purchased my car (seen here to the left) I stupidly had it tested a few months later and it was labeled a gross polluter. The Smog guy wanted me to sell it back to the state for $1,000, at least thats what i thought i heard. I said "Are you bleeping crazy???" i finally put about 500 bucks (new cat, afm etc) into it and it passed. I couldnt believe he would even look at this Z and say that with a straight face.

I need one for a 1978 280z. Midwest Z was a great source but they are long gone
  18. I had the exact same problem, I went to the local ACE hardware store and bought a roll of foil tape, sold next to the regular masking tapes, etc, also purchase a exacto knife to get a precise cut. Carefully measure what you need for the strip, then get a ruler and cut into one long strip. You can peel the backing off and carefully place it over the blue plastic strip. Might not be as shiny as the thin Nissan foil but it sure looks close to original. Good luck Nick

I agree, 12K sounds a bit pricey, even for one totally refurbished. What you do is if he doesn't get any bids on this, and you have already driven up there and looked at it, see if he will take an offer of say 10K or so. he might be more open to that if you can come up with the cash and he knows you're a Z loevr and it'll go to a good home! good luck

As HLS30.com said, yes just snap on the circly thing onto the rod. It looks like it won't work but it will. You'll have to use some elbow grease to get it to snap on probably. If you're unsure, grab a VB or MSa catalog and you'll see how it snaps together thanks to an exploded chart. Or get a microfiche of the Z and check out that illustration.
  23. Well almost 10 months after my original post, i found out it WAS the starter going out. Apparently the heat was weakening the starter. Had the solenoid and starter replaced and now it starts right up!!! Battery was fine. Luckily my starter decided to die right in front of my house! Had to have it towed in. Thanks for all the suggestions!
