How Would You Hand This '73 240z Over To It's Next Enthusiast?
The good news is you are on the east coast. On the west coast many would scrap that car. East coast guys seem to accept rust a little more than others. Especially northeast. Not bad overall but will be quite a bit of work to get the body up to snuff. Typical looking east coast Z. Your price doesn't seem out of line to me at all. The one i started with a few years ago was i believe $1200 for the car. Everything was there it was just rusty. It was in a little better shape but had rust in all the same areas except the doors were in good shape. I do like how you've specifically sought out a buyer with intentions to drive it. Good luck with the sale.

[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Got more rust sorted out on the "wilma" build. Rear of drivers door jamb was toast. Rockers are in. Its getting there.

73 240Z build
I never kept up on this thread however an update. This car is still running great. MS is sorted and the car is a blast to drive. It ran a 13.90 the first pass at the drag strip and handles great on the street. Fun fun fun. I'm working on number 2 now. She's a rusty one....

The NICEST Z EEVVVEEERRRR-so the owner says---------------really
Depends on state. Really would have a hard time at the DMV here in MD without a title even with a signed bill of sale.

73 240Z build
I've got my R200 up. New diff front mount. New rear T3 rear arms. Eibachs and kyb's. I have to relocate the fuel pump because the R200 mustache bar sits further back than the R180 hanger. Coming along. Transmission and clutch will be next.

Z's really can fly, (unfortunately)
Very sorry to hear it. Hope you recover quickly and glad it wasn't any worse for you.

[2013] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Took the L24 Z for a blast in the country. She ran very good today considering she's been in hibernation for quite some time. Can't wait for spring.

Barrett-Jackson 240Z
Not exactly the kind of car i'd expect at a barrett jackson but really cool you bought it. I wonder how the value of purchase for what a "purist" would look for in a 240z, totally stock unmolested survivor would compare to this type of HybridZ. Please reassure your wife that you really would be hard pressed to buy a project base and build the car you own for less if you paid someone to do the modifications. Welcome to the deizease

What's a L28 worth?
I'd love to have another L28ET long block to build

Is The 280Z Fuel Injection a "Good" System?
Exactly

2 completely different cars
Not going to get into octane, Your "peppiness" could be related the the driveline gearing.

1971 Z Console Throttle Slot Repair
Much more economical repair than sourcing one. Those covers have fetched some serious cash lately from what i've seen.

Front suspension rebuild thread
I chose to do mine in the reverse order. My fronts are all nice shiny and fresh. I've got to do my rear suspension next. Shouldnt be too bad since i'm replacing the rear arms in the process. Looks good. You'll love how it feels when you are done. Almost like it has power steering .

Eibach springs and KYB strut inserts
I also agree they work and ride great. Also check for binding. Tightening everything up really really tight after changing everything without letting it settle could be part of it. One of the rubber top insulators might have let loose/rippred but more than likely your springs aren't seated right in the top hat as stated before. Did everything slide in easy and bottom out?

73 240Z build
yeah, same brakes, $200 more for red paint. Its a joke. They brake just the same being black so its an obvious choice for me. I want that set up because other upgrades i've seen might have fitment issues due to my wheel size. I don't want to have to go to a 16 or 17 inch wheel. I'm way off on that project though. I put new stock calipers on it and the rear drums do work so it brakes pretty well for what it is. I just noticed as soon as I got it running halfway right, once it got into boost the speeds went up pretty quickly and the stock brake set up isn't up to snuff with the power. So it will be upgraded at some point in the future. My main goals are to get this rear end set up so I can put in this T-5 and finish the rear suspension. The T-5 all came from an S30 so the drive shaft was already shortened and the hanger adjusted. I've got the rear sway bar set up with brackets and all but i want to see how it handles first after the suspension is fresh. I've read alot on the topic of rear sways on the 240 and many don't like them installed. Some do. I won't know until I see for myself I guess. I'll keep posting as it goes on. Thanks for looking guys. I'll check out the rear set up they sell. I've sourced most of the parts I need for under $500 to do a rear R200 so I'm going to try it for awhile. It can't be any worse than what it is. This thing sounds terrible. Whines at speed and has some play.

73 240Z build
. The real work hasn't started yet. I'm not looking forward to changing this rear end and suspension. 40 year old bolts never play nice. I've got to come pay you a visit. I need to get that rear end, unless you can pick it up for me. I need to find a turbo manual pinion flange for an R200. Thats the only unicorn at the moment. If you see a listing for one let me know. I know you look around quite a bit on the net at parts and cars.

HAHAHA you are right. I'm in pretty deep. Willwoods are on the list. Just don't know if I can swallow the 200 extra for red. Come on really? $200 extra. Thats just not right. The springs are just the eibach kit. They say they don't lower the height on the 240 but it does sit lower in the front now. I havn't started with the rear yet. I'm installing an R200 so i'll do it while i'm changing the rear diff. Here is what I was entertaining myself with today. Looks pretty good. I'm in the midst of re doing some wiring with shielded so wiring is a mess. This car will be pretty nice when its done. I don't know how the T5 will feel but shifting it just out of the car it feels amazing. I can't wait to see. Thats a really nice Z madkaw. I noticed you say you are running the subi LSD. What axles and companion flanges did you use?

73 240Z build
ACT heavy duty clutch is on its way. Bought another MS. I bought a PCB3.0 so I can do it start to finish a second time. I'm just sick in the head sometimes. Either way i'm exited. Merry Christmas to me. I can't wait to put this T-5 in.

Boy am I bummed out...terrible dyno results
Love that pick of the transmission blowing giblets. Glad no one was hurt. Awesome.

Drool, my fellow Z fans, not a Z but very related to ours
Very related. Cool car, a Z wannabe Well maybe the other way around considering the price! Very cool none the less.

Oil Pan Removal
Yeah. More frowns today than smiles, I roasted a brand new turbo clutch today. Ah well, I'll just buy a ACT this time.

Oil Pan Removal
Well I hope you make out ok. I just finished mine up and got a shower. Its always nice when you lay your head back on the concrete into a puddle of used motor oil. I was very surprised at how bad mine was actually leaking but thankful that job is done.

[2012] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
I tuned the MS maps a little more tonight after fixing a few small coolant leaks. I've had a few pop up here and there since swapping in this engine. I think i'll have a few more pop up around the throttle body coolant lines sooner or later. We shall see.
