We took a differential and mustach bar from a 1978 280Z and put them in a 1971 240Z. How can I find out for sure what differential was in the 1978 280Z?

What rear end came in a 1978 280Z? Is it an R180?
  5. I don't need them. What do you think they are worth? $$
  6. Thanks for the info

Is there a specific name for the body panel that covers the front turn signal? I've attached a picture of the part
  8. Just bought a 1981 Turbo 280Z. It was running but missing. Now we are not getting any spark at all. We've checked all the basics. Any suggestions. Someone mentioned the crank angle sensor??
  9. Once again....anyone got some ideas on this. We've tried the usual basic stuff and still get no spark. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  10. Just bought a 1981 Turbo 280Z. It was running but missing. Now we are not getting any spark at all. Tried a good coil with no success. We were told by a mechanic that it could be the pick up coil, which we can't find, or possible the crank angle sensor. Any sugggestions would be appreciated.
  11. Thanks for you suggestions We have a 1980 parts car so we can swap parts to try and solve the problem. What would be the most common parts to fail?? Start with injectors? The car did sit for a couple of years, but when we got it running, it ran well for 1-2 months before developing this problem. We've already swapped, MAF, coil pack, fuel pump, relays, checked all plugs and wires. Thanks for you suggestions
  12. Is there something that would cause one or more fuel injectors to be open all the time. Took out all the spark plugs and they are black and soaked with gas. Car runs very rich. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

1980 280ZX was running fine until it seems like it is getting too much or not enough gas. It's hard to keep running and only goes about 30mph with very stinky exhaust. We decided to clean the fuel injectors with a pressurized can of Echilin from Napa so we unplugged the fuel pump, pinched off the fuel return line and ran it on the can of injector cleaner. Funny thing was that it seemed to run better on the injector cleaner than on gas, but only ran for a few minutes on the can of injector cleaner and it was gone and an unusual amount of white smoke was coming out of the exhaust. When I had used this kind of pressurized cleaner in the past the cars ran for 10-15 minutes, so we have come to the conclusion that it's getting too much gas? We already tried a fuel pressure regulator from another 280Z parts car. Any Suggestions?? When the ignition is on, the pump is always running? Is that normal?

My 16 year old son is swapping out a bad ignition on a 1980 Z and where it is clamped to the steering column, there are 4 screws holding it on. Two of the screws are not accessible. They don't have heads for screw drivers, or they are capped. Do we need to drill these out? What's the best way to get them out? Any suggestions would be appreciated? This is our first experience with Z's.
