  1. I live in Oklahoma where drivers are really stupid. I would prefer overkill to being dead...thats a bit dramatic but you get my point.
  2. I would make sure that it had all the line, bushings. etc replaced beforehand.
  3. Finally decided (saved enough cash) to buy a Z. Preferably a 280 cause I dont like carbs. What are some issues with dd one? And what about safety? I figured that i woulkd install rollbars, 5 point harness and rear disc brakes what else could be done?
  4. wow that much lag?
  5. How quick are the manuals?
  6. Im looking at getting a 280zx as longs as its manual coupe and T-top and was wondering how hard it would be to mod the n/a to get 7.5-8 sec 0-60 or if i should just wait for a turbo coupe
  7. Im looking at something thats simply fun to drive, can get up and go when I want and looks good. I would prefer to keep any mods simple.
  8. so basically just lighten the car, lower it and add less restrictive exhaust?
  9. Any mods or stock?
  10. I come from a family where MX-5s are heralded as the greatest sports cars ever. Im just hoping that i can get similar acceleration to keep up with them
  11. Im mostly just hoping that at a red light i can take off faster than the next guy
  12. A tune up is planned before any of these mods
  13. I planned on adding MSA headers, either twice pipes or just single 2.5" (whichever is better) and maybe bigger throttle body. Would carbs be any advantage over FI?
  14. Im looking for easy ways to increase the horsepower, nothing drastic
  15. What are the cheapest/easiest (weekend project with limited tools) ways to increase a 1978 280z horsepower?

Im looking for an ecu to run my L28ET swapped 240z and cannot find any real definitive answers. The engine has 440cc injectors, a mild cam, porting and an adjustable fuel regulator. What ECU would be cheapest to buy and fastest to get running?
  17. I was planning on making it a daily driver
  18. When i saw rust free i mean little rust. Are KYB struts good? Those are what I have lined up for replacing those in the car. And it runs perfectly.
  19. No rust, runs perfectly for a car this old. The catch is that the suspension has started to go bad, would that be much of an issue aside from ride harshness?

There is power to anything at all even with a new battery. My plan is to buy the car, replace the link and drive home. If its as simple as a fuse replacement I don't want to have the hassle of towing the car home.

Looking at buying a 71 240z soon. The seller an I have discussed the car and it does not run currently and the issues he has said are: all new electrical system but no power and he has not replaced the fusible link, I think that it may be fried and was wondering if that is the case how hard and how long does it take to replace one? If its quick I may see if I could fix it in his yard and drive it home instead of towing it.

It seems like body is more important than the engine...I know that the frame rails and rocker panels are places that rust easily are there any others?

The only person who liked them was my mechanic uncle who said parts are cheap and easy to find which is a bonus to me. Im looking for cars in the Oklahoma and Texas area so rust shouldnt be too much of an issue...are their any major engine/drivetrain issues that can arise?
