on the topic of the avatar I see stony has also got that same style. My brother got one of a Twin cam mk1 Cortina on a T-shirt in the same style, (said it cost $20 US). said he ordered it from the lotus shop I think. does anyone know if you can get the 240z on a shirt?
  3. Its not as if i don't like the mirrors its just i want mirrors that i can adjust whilst still in the car. Also the image is not the best from that far away. The mirrors will just go in the shed and sit on the shelf just incase the car ever gets a full rebuild back to stock. (many years from now). sorry trs. as far as holes in the guards- i'm sure they will still be smaller than the ones I've got in the floor pan. But thanks for the warning Alan. p.s how do you insert a quote? after you click on quote it asks you to enter the text to be formated . what does that mean?
  4. phew thought you had some really bad news for me. Those abominations will be the first things to go when I start on the exterior tidy up. Got a set of falcon GT mirrors somewhere in the shed that I will put on. At the moment I have just stripped out the seats and carpet and have removed all that black rubber sound retardent/rust inhibiting stuff.(chisel and hammer job, not much fun in this weather). does not look pretty under there. will have to start cutting and welding in new floor pieces over the next few weeks. Got to put the car up on a hoist and have really good look underneath. Have some pics of the car as it was purchased. will upload them today and post new pics as I go along with the work. what you doing to your z Mr C.
  5. had a bit of a look around today as well. The 240z was a ripper. so was the white one in the car park, looked nice and straight. (anyone know who owns it) the two v8 260z were o.k too. one with a 350 chev and the other with a rover 3.5 litre. p.s car of the day had to be the vee-dub (surprisingly).
  6. IT IS WHATS THE BAD NEWS.. BE GENTLE NOW
  7. that could be the one. silver paint, black vinyl roof and black/dark blue paint on the bonnet bulge.
  8. probably my mistake!! pretty sure the early mark 1 twin cam cortinas that came into oz had a lotus twin cam motor 1.6 ltr in them. Probably had the cosworth in the U.S models.

halz!! can you make me a copy of your pikes peak vid. have not seen that footage in years Sure money could change hands. e-mail if your interested
  10. yeh lotus cortina's, rare as buggery over in Australia. well at least original ones. really hard to find one in ozzy that has not been re-bodied. Still lotus body but not maching numbers.
  11. while we are asking Allan, can you elaborate on the below information I heard, maybe from the old man but not sure. In his day it was twin cam mga's, e-types or twin cam cortina's. 1. Merc engine copy 2. lotus suspension copy 3. Porsche box copy love to hear the truth!
  12. o.k sounded heaps better in the add than in real life. 260z motor came out of his dads 260z 2 seater (great looking car in excellent condition asking $9,500) The rb something motor was a 280 turbo that is now in his fathers 260. Motor swap. So i was told. The motor has had new rings etc and the head shaved. Keeps blowing head gaskets. Lots of oil on ground after i took it for a spin. Body is in average condition. paint job must have been a pretty cheap one at the time. Bonnet has after market flutes in it. Has simmons 3 piece rims but thay look a bit scrappy. Tyres are bald. suspension was pretty good. Had new bushes a few years ago and feels fairly tight. pulls to the left a bit. Rust has been cut out of the car and repaired. But not a very good job. The channels runnung under the floor pan have been chopped off where they had rusted and the car had been coated in a rust proofing tar. Little rust behind the seats. Don't know about the the floors as the carpet was stuck down. No rust in the spare wheel compartment or in the tool compartments. Lots of rust under the vinyl back hatch (yes it has a vinyl roof and sunroof) rust under battery had been cut out but the new piece welded in had not even been ground back before painting. Inside of car is pretty average bright blue carpet everywhere, dash is good no cracks, seats are not original. My opinion is that the car would be great if you just wanted to put a 280turbo or rb motor in it and thrash it around the track or club events. But generally its had a pretty hard life and would require a full resto. Don't want to put anyone off but its not quite the car its made out to be in the add. Still worth a look just for interest sake.
  13. Mr C or others in W.A Did you see the 240 z for sale in todays quokka build number 38 ,plus extra go fast bits. Anyone go look at it? might check it out tomorrow arvo. Can someone tell me if its worth a look ( bit pressed for time)
  14. just wanted to check and see if my avatar worked. Mr C how did you upload your pics into your garage, cant seem to find the right place for it. Car looks great. Looks like its got very little rust. Thats gotta be a big bonus. Nothing wrong with the red either, if its the original colour.
  15. thanks Cuong Have seen their name before but a friend of mine had said they had closed down. Must have just moved to new location (whelshpool). Will go see him this week and check out some prices.
  16. Coung Its only a 2+2. Dont really need too many parts for my 240. Just thought i could rebuild the parts from the 260 and swap them into my 240Z. saves having the 240 off the road. What i really need is info on where to get performance stuff for my 240 ie lsd diff or r200 , good disc brakes, sway bars, motor upgrade ( dont know what yet and will be the last thing I do). Do you know who does this stuff in W.A or can supply parts. cheers gavin
  17. Oops! The parts will be for a 71 z40z
  18. just been offered a 77 260z as a parts car. told the interior is excellent, runs but has rust. the car is $250 I dont really have the room for it but if Its a bargain I will take it. Can someone let me know haow many of the parts are interchangable and is it worth the money cheers Gavin
  19. cool thang. can't wait to see those pics. Will also have some pics some time next week. keep us informed on what work is done on the z. Might be able to help each other with obtaining those hard to get parts in W.A.

sorry my mistake! there 280zx's that I was looking at. really just want a r200 diff and am looking at a more powerfull motor L28? Thought it would be cheeper to buy a wreck ($400-600) than buy the individual parts from a wrecker. there seem to be too many options when it comes to HP upgrades. Should I just work my own 240 motor or should i put the l28 motor in what about the head, Use my e31, work it and use triple webers or use the l28 head work it and go fuel injection. If I am going to spend $3000-4000 dollars on the motor and maybe some work on my gearbox would i not be better off buying a rb motor and box for about the same price even though installation would be much more difficult. Are the l28 or rb motors heavier than my l24. i dont really want to increase the weight of my car. Cheers
