donor car for my 240z
looking at getting an unlicenced 280z as a donor car for my 71 240z. There seem to be a few 82 model 280's available locally. Questions? 1. Are they fuel injected, should i use it if it is. 2. Are all the parts i need for the diff swap on the 280z 3. Does the 280 motor bolt straight into my 240, can i use the 240 5 speed box (all the local cars are auto). 4. What other parts can i poach off the 280 that will improve my 240. 5.Should I hold out for a different year 280 or one with a turbo motor. ps will keep all my original 240 parts for the time when a full resto is in order. any help would be appreciated

ZZZ 240 plates in Perth
no way I'm paying $1000 for those plates. that sort of cash will go a long way towards rebuilding suspension. on that note, does anyone know the best place to get a full set of bushes for the front and rear end. W.A suspensions don't seem that interested in getting me any. p.s the side stripes on the grey z (attachment) are just the same as the ones on the orange zed in freo.

ZZZ 240 plates in Perth
Could be that the orange/red 240 with the side stripes is owned by an old guy who bought the car in 1979. He visits my parents neighbours in freo every now and then. Thats how I got into zeds. Great car had a drive of it the other day. very original. there is no way he will ever sell it. Sorry guys.

Just Bought a 240Z Need Info
This front spoiler look similar to the one on the top left of the page ( the way it joins to the guards etc ) but does not have the dished section near the bottom of the spoiler. It is more "squarish" and aggressive looking. The guy who has the pattern got it when he bought his car in 79 from some local racing identity (can't remember who). I don't believe this style is readily available. On the topic of no. plates. Some guy with a vg ute has the plates 'scarab'.

RB conversion parts 4 sale
hey cuong! have recently purchased a 240z and would love to see what you have done to yours. Saw a 260 down in albany when marshalling the hill climb and it went like a rocket. pretty sure it had a rb26dett engine but never got to look under the bonnet. how hard was it to licence with the turbos? what gear box do you run and how many mods were required?

Just Bought a 240Z Need Info
cheers for the info chris. so the strengthening ribs on the bell housing were standard? my car will go back to the original blue one day. Can't stand the red!! was the only thing aboutthe car I didn't like. My plates are just regular ones but have seen a red zed in freo with the plates redzed hmmm guess what colour it is. Anyone know where to get those front spoilers, met a guy the other day with the pattern to make fibreglass ones. Said I could use his pattern if I did him a mould too. i was told a rough price would be $160 each. How much are the off the shelf ones?

Exact Import Numbers for Australia
Can anyone tell me how many 1971 240z came into the country with the E31 head and a close ratio gear box. ( does such a beast exist) Have just bought one ( I think ) and have been told that the head and gearbox combo was a special run that was only released in Australia so that they could be used as world rally spec. Is this true. Cheers Gavin.

hey Halz, Hit the nail on the head. Red with blue engine bay bought from old guy in cannington. have not been able to find many Z's to look at or compare with, so tell me was $5,500 the right price or did I get shafted? Also can you tell me if there are any reputable retailers of Z bitz in W.A. or do I need to buy out of the east. P.s hope this goes to the right place. Just learning.

Just Bought a 240Z Need Info
I have recently purchase a 1971 240z. It is in reasonable condition (body wise) but requires a full mechanical rebuild. It has a close ratio 5 speed and a E31 Head. Have been told this is a rare Model, only 1000 made. Is this correct and did they only come into Australia? Would like to catch up with some people in Perth Western Australia so I can get some ideas on the best way to improve my cars handling and power. Don't want to do anything to radical as I would like to keep the car as authentic as possible. Have basic mechanical skills and full access to a workshop. Are there any 240z clubs in W.A or should I join the sporting car club? Would appreciate any info. Cheers Gavin.
