@TAZ -- I actually sold the unit last year to a guy in the UK (I think for about $450).

If you are still running a voltage regulator, that is probably your issue (in addition to the dirty connectors as mentioned above). Below is a link to my alternator replacement: Dave's 1972 Datsun 240z: Alternator Upgrade
  3. I have a spare '77 280z lightly used speedo cable if you're lookin'

Here is the instruction sheet that came with my 8-track. It was installed in the glovebox (which needs to be cut in the back!)

Here's some info that I've accumulated throughout my travels...
  8. Diseazd, Your car looks great! Can you please give the offset of your 16's as well as what tires you're running? In addition what springs do you have (are you lowered at all)?

    See ~7' 30"
  10. So the front air dam that I have looks a little different than the original posting above, but still appears to be designed and made for the 240z based on the contours and the mounting brackets.. It is made of some form of rubber/foam and is attached to the lower valance by about 7 bolts. Below are some pictures and a YouTube video of the entire thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3joyC9o5co
  11. I've got a Euro front spoiler on my '72 that the original owner purchased & installed. Its functional, but I'm not in love with it & if anyone has a strong desire I'd be happy to sell it.

I have several (3-4) years of Z Club of America literature from the late 70's / early 80's, as well as a ton of parts catalogues from the same time period. If anyone is interested, PM me or send me an email at david_jarvas@yahoo.com
  13. I found my Tokicos on Amazon.com, whole kit with blue struts & springs for $405!
  14. What wheel/tire combos are people with Tokico springs/struts running? I'd prefer to avoid tire rub in the rear, so any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks.
  15. 3ryce: For the relay, 87 is the power feed (once the 'system' is working i.e. oil pressure detected, ignition turned on, etc.) which then goes to the fuel pump itself through the green wire behind the radio. I just put a simple inline fuse for an added safety measure. Glad you guys are enjoying my write-ups!
  16. My 5/72 has the same setup as Captain Zeros post above. I'm upgrading this weekend to a set of Wesco belts.

Anyone have suggestions for upgrading to modern seat belts? I'm looking for a 3-point retractable that will bolt into my '72 240z. I've seen quite a few on Amazon and Motorsports...wanted to get everyone's input and experience. Thanks.
  18. Is it possible your return line is clogged, thus allowing the stock fuel rail to overheat?
  19. Jarvo2 replied to ninjazombiemaster's post in a topic in Help Me !!
Details of Alternator upgrade & elimination of voltage regulator. Please note for the '73 you'll need a different jumper setup so that the fuel pump relay isn't always powered up. Dave's 1972 Datsun 240z: Alternator Upgrade
  20. There are several of those tabs along the driver's side of the console that hold the choke cable & the other wires neatly aligned. I actually don't use mine because its a pain to get the console on & off with them on there. Once I'm finished with my project I may use them. There should be screw holes in the console where they go.

Great pictures (as always), Blue. For the early 240's though with the marks on the pulley, I believe they start with 0 (zero) and go up in increments of 5 degrees....right?

Welcome! I picked up a '72 240z about a year ago & have been enjoying the rolling restoration work thus far. Once my kids get a little older they'll be out working on it with me too. Enjoy it!
