I'm looking for a header and curious what to buy. If you have hard fast scientific data on why one is better that would be great! Otherwise, opinions are welcome as well. ? I've got two on my current list and know that there are others, looking for equal length coated... Arizona Z Car MSA

I have a 1/71 production date 240Z that has major front end damage so I'm shopping around for a front clip. My question is what differences are there between the different years and when were those differences? Example, I'm looking at a 6/71 build and wondering if there were changes made from 1/71 to 6/71? My 1/71 has all the expected series I items such as the latching fuel door, no vents in the rear quarter/pillar, etc.

Yes, the color in the picture you posted does look to be incorrect. I've looked at a couple of sources and also my own Z (paint is for crap on mine) and 918 is more orange that that picture looks. Here are the sources I'm talking about... http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/index.html https://zcarguide.com/datsun-240z-stock-paint-and-interior-colors-us-and-canada/
  4. View Advert Datsun/Nissan L28 Engine Here is a long block for a Datsun/Nissan 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX. This is an N42 block and N47 head. Per the previous owner the block was rebuilt and never ran, to some degree I believe this since the piston tops look very clean and the head gasket appears to be brand new. However, Kevin at the Z Clinic feels that there is too much fore/aft movement of the crank and warrants a closer look. I'd assume it will need a quick once over at minimum. Also included is a flywheel, alternator, and front pulley (all in the condition I received them, surface rust). For an additional $200 I'll include the 4-screw round-top SU carbs that I got with this engine, they are partially disassembled for rebuild (just as I received them) and an E48 intake manifold for them. Local pick up and cash sale please. Advertiser texasz Date 07/27/2020 Price $500.00 Category Parts for Sale

Sold for $1300, a bit more than this would cost from ZTherapy and without the wait (they are backlogged 4 months last I talked to them).

The location on the side of the block where it is seems like a poor location. Every time one changes the oil it seems like it would make a huge mess all down the side of the block, starter, etc.

Has anyone done an oil filter relocation on an S30? If so do you have pix and the relocation kit you used? I thought that there was a kit for the Z though I was not having much luck finding it nor pictures of people who had done this to see where the filter's new location was.

I'm replacing the engine so I will have access to the header and would like to check the exhaust system for leaks. I was thinking that I would plug 5 of the 6 ports and blow a fog machine down the 6th port and watch to see if fog comes out anywhere from front to rear. Is this a bad idea? Would the fog from a fog machine damage the muffler? Do you have a better way to test for leaks?
  9. Quick question on engine and accessory paint colors...I know that the block is a blueish green which can be bought from Bansai Motorworks. The real question is how much of the engine was this color? Like was the alternator mount this color or different? How about the AC mounting bracket? Oil pan? etc, etc, etc. If these and other items were different colors then what color were they? Pix would be great as well. Thank you in advance!! ?

View Advert LOW VIN ENGINE I have an engine from a very low VIN 240Z. This is an E31 head sitting on an E31 block, block number 2776. From what I've learned this looks to have come out of a sub-500 VIN 240Z. Anyone interested in this? If so shoot me an offer, no lowballers please (the head alone is worth a fair amount). Thank you Zed Head. I'm not worried about the exhaust manifold as I have headers.

I have a 1970 240Z that I am putting a 280Z engine in (N42 block which should be from a '75-80 Z car). I have heard that there were three different oil pans and some had fitment issues in some cars. So my question is this...will the stock oil pan on the 280Z engine fit in my 240Z without issues? Does anyone have pictures of the different pans and identify which is which?

Also consider Wolf Creek Racing, that's where I got mine from.
  14. Hardway, I'll have to catch up with you after the holidays (not sure if I want 2 or 3 sets). I'm in Cedar Park...what part of town are you in?

Check out this thread, there's a lot of good info in it and from what I quickly scanned I think you do need spacers.
  16. Hardway, I may not have been clear in my last post...I'm interested in the parts also and live locally so no shipping.
  17. Interested. Also, would the fab company let you keep the tooling incase more are desired? I'm sure that they do not keep tooling for very long and it would be a waste for these to be destroyed.

I thought that there was a forum for this though did not see it nor could I find a related thread so I'm starting one. I recently saw an S30 Z car on Miami Vice season 3 episode 11 about 30-33 minutes in (on the TV version with commercials, a DVD version it will be earlier that this of course). In this video it is about 27-28 minutes in: https://www.nbc.com/classic-tv/miami-vice/video/forgive-us-our-debts/n30591

Yes I said that, unfortunately my Linux admin skills are severely lacking these days and I've been having troubles getting anyone to help without charging a significant amount of money. I have a friend who said he'd be willing to help me this month so hopefully things will all be back up soon. It's not just the Z Car content that is on that server so it's been a huge PITA for me having it down for so long.

Well yes and no. All of my sites are down at the moment as I am migrating to new hardware and updating the software at the same time. This has taken FAR longer than I ever wanted/expected it to. I will have everything back up, it will just take me a little while. Please forgive the downtime.
  21. I bought from reddat once and that was more than enough. Lied about the parts, description was misleading, shipping has always been very high, and he refused to offer a refund/exchange for the parts. Will never buy from him again.

Has anyone had any experience with Datsun Spirit in VA? They advertise some impressive motors and I'm curious if anyone has dealt with them on anything and what they thought of the experience and products.

These were the kind of pix and info I was after, thank you both. I did not expect so much response surrounding originality and should they be on the car. The question was because I have a parts car that I have to have a way of dragging up on my trailer and did not want to use the radiator support or sway bar and rip either off the car. I have a hook hanging around in my garage (that I pulled from a '73 about 8 years ago) that I wanted to put on for this purpose.
  24. texasz posted a post in a topic in Body & Paint
Yes, I agree that's why I have a trailer and need the hook to winch the car up on the trailer with. The name that they are known by is misleading indeed, my intent certainly is not to tow the car by this hook.
