Thank you for the replies guys!! gnosez, those links were great!! Very helpful and informative. Blue, I already knew about Bad Dog and was preparing to order I just wanted to make sure that was the right part and from the links from gnosez it appears as though it is.

Anyone got good recommendations for frame rails for a 240Z? I'd like some heavy duty ones that just fit over the existing rails to add strength and rigidity to the car. I know of only one place to get them off hand and that's Bad Dog Parts. Anyone have experience with their rails? Anyone have a better suggestion (i.e. superior product, cheaper price, etc)?

Would these be from a 280ZX? Does anyone know?

Do you have install instructions to go with them?

Got more info on that head kit from Japan? Very interesting.

Ok. And with 29 splines what year/make is it from?

I just want to be sure I'm clear on what these parts came from as I have someone asking to buy them and want to ensure they are the correct part for his application. What I have are the part that has the 4-lugs on them for the wheel to attach to, they pass through the wheel hub at the bottom of the strut tube. They have 29 splines. Are these from the 280Z and 280ZX as stated above?

Once again you guys are a wealth of information! Thank you for the replies. I'll look around for such a tool locally first...maybe Harbor Freight??? If not I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and buy one online.

Thank you for the feedback and ideas on this type of switch. So you are using both the inertia and oil pressure switches in the same car? Interesting idea.

I know that there has been disucssion on this topic in the past for those who add an electronic fuel pump to their early Z. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the item being sold in this eBay auction? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310298569974&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123

Ok, this may sound like a silly question at first. How do you drain the fluid from a manual tranny while it's in the car still? I guess another question would be how much fluid should there be so I know how large a container I need to catch it all? Last time I pulled an engine/tranny together all the tranny fluid ran out through the drive shaft hole and made a mess on my garage floor...I'm looking to avoid that from happening again.
  12. WOW, I'm sold I have to have one, where do I sign up!!
  13. If it has T-Tops then it would not be a 280Z unless it was modified, this would be a 280ZX and yes they did have t-tops in 1980...I have one for sale myself.

So which taks from later cars are a direct bolt in for the 240Z? I'd like to get a tank with baffles if possible.
  15. Mike W, How is the diff project coming along? I too live in Austin and have the same situation with a diff I have in my garage.

You want to cotact the Z Clinic on Roxie Dr. in North Austin. Kevin will fix you up.
  17. Agreed!! Another great part Dave! I got mine a few weeks back...ok, over a month ago. I ordered two since they are in short supply, one for my Z and one just in case I get another Z that I want to keep.
  18. Mike, That's not what I was looking for, I actually wanted to have a conversation with him. Though thinking through this I did follow the Purchase link and got the info I was looking for...I wanted to know about shipping for more than one unit and the PayPal purchase page actually answered that question (it doesn't always). Thank you!!
  19. How can he be reached? I saw no email or phone number or 'contact' page on his site ahywhere.
  20. Yep, and we had a deal for that to become mine. Guess he changed his mind. ;( Best of luck with it...you've got some work ahead of you. I don't have a shell for the same model to help you with though I do have two 280ZXs available, one is a 2 seater with no engine/tranny and the other is a complete (or nearly complete) 2+2. If you or anyone else are interested in them give me a hollar! Maybe we could work out a deal if you want something more workable with less effort.
  21. I've heard good and bad stories aobut these setups. Personally I'm interested in doing one so if you decide you do not want to mess with it please let me know as I may be interested in buying the turbo related parts (I've already got the carbs). Some say it's not worth the time/money/trouble and that more power can be had for less time/money/trouble by just using a turbo ZX engine setup. Actually a good number of people feel this way. Then there are the others like myself who are not working on a daily driver and want something fun, different, and period correct (i.e. no FI). So for us it's not about the time nor trouble, it's just kinda cool, fun, and different. I'm sure you will get some more comments on this. You should also spend a little time searching here and on hybridz about the triple carb turbo setups, you'll find plenty to read.
  22. Dave, I'll bet you have! Why only make 50 if there are orders in excess of that? How about 75? Or 60? Or ???? If it's an initial funding issue I'll pay for mine up front to keep your out of pocket expenses down.
  23. Right, I forgot to mention the fit of the cover. Well as you said a picture speaks a thousand words so here are two thousand words worth. Where it pulls up under in the front and rear is where the two buckle straps are located and I have them buckled. The grommet could be used for the included rope or a cable lock (optional additional purchase)...I'm not using either.
  24. Dave, I'll take one!! I don't know how these threads all slipped by me, I never saw any of them until today. I presume that these are better than the solid diff mounts because the allow for some absorbsion and isolation so they do not transfer the sound into the cabin. Fantastic part!! If you have more I would buy more than one, just let me know and I can PayPal payment immediately. Thanx again!! P.S. What are the other Z parts you sell? I know of the head light relay...
  25. I bought a new cover in June and have been very pleased with it. My car sits in my driveway currently due to the huge parts inventory occupying my garage now. The cover I got was off eBay, here's a link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200474109964&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT The auction number was 200474109964 As eBay only keeps closed auctions for 90 days it won't be long until the above information is useless so here is some additional information that will help people in the future find what I bought. Seller: cscsportsinc Auction Title: Nissan 240Z 2-Seater 1969 1970 1971 1972 1973 Car cover Some item descriptors: 5 layer cover, 3x ultrasonic seams, heavy duty, 100% breathable, 100% waterproof, 100% UV protected, lifetime warranty, Reinforced Grommet, Free Storage bag, Elasticized hems for snug fit, Scratchproof, Free Antenna patch, Built-in 2 Sets of straps and buckles This is WAY better than my last cover which really was a glorified dust cover really meant for indoor use only. This one on the other hand is quite nice! My favorite feature and the one that was difficult to find in an affordable cover was the buckle straps to secure it and keep it on the car in those windy rain storms. I hope that this helps others in their car cover quest.
