  1. Good point! And there is such a section...I'll let you post it since it was your work (I wouldn't want to appear as though I was trying to steal credit for this info). Here's a link to the Tech Article forum: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=46
  2. Here's the infomation I was hoping to find! And now I also see why there was a bit of confusion (at least on my part). I kept saying 4Runner when I should have really been saying 4x4 truck...my mistake. :stupid: Thank you BleachZee for the research and information!!
  3. Maybe I'm doing something wrong on Car-parts.com but I tried several searches and they all came back with no results.

Thanx 2many!! This is the info I was looking for.
  5. Yes but you know how when you go to the parts counter they want to know the make, model, year, etc of the car you need the part for...this is why I need to know this information so that they pull the right part from their shelf. I will of course check it for the proper casting code but have to get them to pull the part first.

I searched but couldn't find this info in our forums. I'm interested in the Y70 Maxima flywheel swap into my Z and wanted to know what year(s) Maxima I should get this flowheel from? I know that this is also in the 810 so what years did this car have the Y70 flywheel?
  7. I have a question about which year 4Runner caliper can be used with the stock rotor. I know that it's the S12 or S12-8 (I have heard both and do not have one in hand to confirm which one it really is but it's NOT the S12W) but on one website it says '79-'83 yet someone on this board told me they used them from an '84. Is the website I have read incorrect or is this person simply mistaken on the year caliper he has?
  8. All - Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. Our little Kate is doing very well and there's really nothing to worry about. She was just early and therefore small and a bit underdeveloped but that's all changing now as she grows. I have started a separate thread for this if anyone is interested so that it will not detract from the original purpose of the Father's day discussion. Here's a link to the new thread: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13711

Here's the thread I started so that this dicsussion would be seperated from the Father's day thread. If you are interested then tons of info is available on our (Kate's) website: htt://www.pape.ws/allan_and_rosanne/kate

No the heater control pannel was also sold a few months back.
  11. The day started out with a nice 2 hour drive in my Z (alone) through the Texas hill country...nice hilly windy roads...great for the Z! It just reminded me why I love these cars. Then I washed off the exhaust smell and my wife and I went to the hospital to see our daughter (she was born 7 weeks early which was 4 weeks ago today and is in the NICU). Then we went to my parents house for dinner (and to wish my old man a happy father's day also) and I opened my present that my daughter got me (must have bought it on-line from the NICU) and it was a very nice Seiko dive watch, I'm also SCUBA certified. Now the reality of this is that I bought the watch 2 weeks ago and gave it to my wife to wrap because she wanted to get it for me for father's day but she was on bed rest and could not go anywhere.

Yes, I will have to look at that. If it's as "simple" as you explained I'll gladly pull the parts for you. Please give me a couple weeks to do so though as I may be out of town one of the next couple weekends. I do still have the grill. There is no glass available from this car. You are welcome to come pick up any parts you wish to buy or I will ship them to you, I'll leave that up to you. Please let me know either way.

No, these were sold months ago. Check eBay, there are always some on ther and for only one side you should be able to find one for about $20.

I'm still looking for these parts...

Damn, damn, double damn. I wish I had seen this thread sooner, I just picked this one up on eBay. I'm having it shipped to a friend who works for Boeing on contract to NASA to have him reverse engineer it (fancy words for measure it, put it into a CAD program and print out a full-sized template) for me and I was going to start making them also, but I was thinking of something made of metal or resin so it would last longer.

Are you talking about the black trim piece which covers up the screw holding in the chrome piece behind the door handle? If so then no, I do not have them even on my driver. If you are talking about something else please let me know.

You signed your post as TX. I'm guessing that you may live in Texas. If you let us know where you are (and the car) you may get lucky enough to have someone take a look at it with you to help you determine what's good, bad, and ugly about this car you are interested in.

Where'd you get the metal repair tape? I'm interested in this fix and it doesn't sound all that bad or expensive to do.

Yes, but not sure about removal. I tried removing some of the lower parts (half shafts) and could not get the bolts to budge. It may be a bit before I attack the suspension again. I do have them but not selling them, I need a way to roll the car around and must hang on to them. Sorry about that.
  20. Thank you mdbrandy...I was thinking this but for some reason it just didn't sound right at the time I was typing in my post.
  21. Tip: if it's only the body style you love about these you may find it less expensive (and easier to find) if you get yourself a 280Z. The body is the same, the interior is a little different, the engine is a tad bit larger (2.4 vs. 2.8) and the 280Z is fuel injected which should mean less hassle on those cold mornings when you're running late to class and your carbed engine just doesn't want to turn over. Now on the other hand, if you want a 240Z because it was the first, they are lighter, etc then best us luck to you...they are out there but can be tough to find a good one for your situation...again, they are out there just keep looking. :classic: Welcome to the club too!!
  22. Clarification... the 2.8 was in both the 280Z and the 280ZX. The ZX was introduced in 1980 as I recall, which was also the Z car's 10th anniversary and the 280ZX was only made through '83 then in '84 the 300ZX came out which had the 3.0 in it.

Sorry man, it's been REALLY busy around here lately (baby in hospital and wife who can not drive for another week, doctor's orders). I do not have a set of wheels for sale at this time. The car in my avitar is my driver...the parts car was a huge rust bucket with steel wheels on it.
  24. You mention that they are really light...who much does each weigh without a tire on it?
  25. Very glad to hear that you got it and are happy with the part, even more happy that you will now pass inspection and get to drive your Z....legally that is. :classic:
