  1. Can you post a pix of the wheels? I may be interested in them. How much do you want for them?
  2. texasz replied to 2ManyZs's post in a topic in Internet Finds
I saw this the other day and thought to myself...'why in the world would anyone want to do that to a perfectly good Z, it just looks like crap'. Just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions...
  3. There was someone in Dallas advertising that he would swap an engine or tranny in 24 hours on a Z car in this forum but I can no longer locate this thread. Can anyone tell me where it is or provide his contact information please?

Do you still have this car? Do you have those pix available?
  5. Zzone70, Please tell me about the cars you have, both complete and rolling chasis. Include prices and detailed descriptions of condition and mods.

Greg, Do you still have the rolling chasis? If so please tell me about the condition, including rust and repair work, and how much you want for it.

  9. SCCA_racer, I put a post in the 'wanted' section a week or so ago, here's a link to it -> http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5602 Please keep in mind what is acceptable is not the same as ideal and in this post I list out what I really need and also what would be an ideal situation. I have found some cars but it is very unfortunate that most of the good inexpensive ones are in Cali and I have checked on the shipping, from San Diago to Austin it would run over $600 which really eats into my bedget! I'd rather spend that money on the car instead of shipping. I see that you too live in Austin. Are you shopping for a 240Z also or to you already have one and are just keeping your eyes open for parts? From your nickname I take it that you are probably a member of a local car club like Spokes. I used to be a member of Spokes about 10 years ago and would like to get back into autox, this is part of the reason I am looking for a Z. The rest of it is that I just simply love these cars, always have but never owned one. Just something about the style, the look, basically the over all package that these offer.
  10. Thanx SCCA_racer! Too bad that this guy is not kind enough to reply to anyone or update his post so that we all know what's going on. I have had this car in the back of my mind for weeks now but could not remember where I found 'that 240Z in North Texas for $1200' since I have looked at so many recently. And still have not found one!!

I know that I'm new to these cars and all but before buying one I just have to ask. Didn't these cars originally run on "regular" gas, not unleaded? If so what is everyone doing? Putting in a fuel additive?

JBAdamcik, I'm curious to see you reply to the two above questions as I too am shopping for a 240Z. Please post reply.

I am looking for a '70-'71 Datsun 240Z. Minimum requirements are: -minimal to no rust -all or nearly all parts accounted for and included -running or require minimal effort/expense to get running -interior should be in fair condition Ideal candidate will have also have the following: -ENGINE: an '81-'83 L28 non-turbo motor (this will have flat top pistons) which will be an F54 -HEAD: an '81-'82 P90 head (Does this head have brass rings?) -CARB: round top SU carbs -TRANNY: a '77-'79 5-speed -REAREND: a R180 3.9 from a non-turbo car Acceptable cars will meet at least the minimum requirements and may have some of the additional features listed under the ideal candidate. The closer the car is to Austin, TX the more I will be able to spend on it and conversly the further away it is the less I can spend on the car as the cost of retrieving/shipping it increases. Detailed descriptions and pictures are requested. I have a budget that MUST be held to so if you want more than a couple thousand for your car please do not reply as this is beyond what I have been allowed to spend on this toy. I know that these cars exist which are close to my ideal specs and within my budget, I have seen some just this month but have been just a little to late.
  15. I have been doing a LOT of reading on this website as well as a hand full of others and think that I may have figured out what is considered to be the best overall setup for a Z. Please work with here as I am very new to all of this and am only working off my notes from various people's opinions and tested results. I do welcome all helpful information as I would like to determine the truely best way to build up a Z car. For starters you need a '70-71 Z car as these were lighter than the later ones. Now for the rest... ENGINE: an '81-'83 L28 non-turbo motor (this will have flat top pistons) which will be an F54 block and should have originally had a P79 head HEAD: an '81-'82 P90 head (Does this head have brass rings?) CARB: round top SU carbs TRANNY: a '77-'79 5-speed with a '77-'78 R200 3.9 rearend from a non-turbo car - this is the performance setup -or- an '81-'83 5-speed with a 4.11 rearend from an '85 200SX - this is the speed setup From everything that I have read so far it seems as though this would give you the best results. However, like I said, I am new to this and am in the process of sorting it all out so any help would be great.

Ok, I will first say that I do not know much if anything about carbs so please be kind. I'm trying to learn as quickly as I can as much as I can about Z cars. Is SU a brand name? Are SUs stock on Z cars? What's the difference between round tops and flat tops? Are round tops stock on any Z cars? If so which one(s)? Does anyone have a pic of both round tops and flat tops so that I know what I'm looking at?
  17. I'm new to the technical aspect of cars also as well as Z cars. What it NA or N/A? I see it throughout the posts and have not figured it out.
  18. texasz replied to 2ManyZs's post in a topic in Internet Finds
Magazines appear to be gone already.

I'm with St. Stephen!!! There's nothing in Texas! They are all in Cali....
  20. texasz replied to derk's post in a topic in Body & Paint
EScanlon, When you POR these areas are you doing it inside the car or outside/under the car?
  21. 2many, Can you tell us where these patches can be obtained? I am also shopping for a 240Z and have no doubt that I will need this information as I can not afford to buy one that someone else has already restored...plus that's half the fun....right???
  22. texasz replied to grnskyline's post in a topic in Body & Paint
St.stephen, Can you provide the information on the places that sell repair kits for rust spots on Zs? I saw someone the other day who sells floorpans while surfing the web but that's all I have found.
  23. Do you still have the car? I would love to see some pix if you could take a few and either post them or email them to me. I wold also like to know about the carbs, are they dual or triple? How bad is the rust? When do the tags expire?
