Lets talk rusty frames...
My story is a little different, but kinda the same. The guys here have heard my story...so real short...I was real lucky when getting my '72...I got it in Wisconsin, shipped it out here sight unseen...VERY lucky there was no rust prolems...at least discovered. With that being said,in this last year I have put $20,000.00 into her...and this was a pretty sweet car the way she came! Beyond the other great points brought up here, money is going to figure into it in a big way....just a thought FWIW...Tim

Used Parts
Hey all. I'm in the process of having my engine rebuilt, plus a few other things.I'm using the services of a place called SunWestMotorSports in Ventura,Calif. Dave, the mechanic and I were talking the other day and pointed towards 3 big metal shipping containers and told me they were filled with used parts collected over a period of 40 years. According to Dave, there are so many parts and such that they're not sure of everything they have. Might be a good place to check if you need something hard to find. Their phone number is..... (805) 644-9644....email is sunwestmotorsports.com, but I'm not sure if the web is set up yet. This place was just recently purchased from the original owner who was a mechanic at Universal City Datsun back when the Z first showed itself. Hope this helps somebody!

One more question(for now)
No offense taken at all!

One more question(for now)
Never at an auction...2 previous owners only.

One more question(for now)
I know my Z didn't come from a wrecking yard....far from it! And the bracket looks original to me.

One more question(for now)
Hey everyone...Hope everybody is doing good!I have a question/puzzle.I'm going to be rebuilding my engine soon, and along with that,I'll be repraying my engine bay.Yesterday as I was looking,I noticed a "45" painted on the bracket of the hood latch "reciever".Can anybody shed some light on the significance of this number?Should I save it when the engine bay gets painted...or is it of no importance?Any feed back would be welcomed.Thanks....Tim

Kinda Cool
Well I've learned two things from this thread...That the car cover is not original....but more important, next time I think I have something, instead of saying "This IS"....I will start with "IS THIS".Lesson learned! And don't worry Dennis,my parade has been rained on a helluva worse than this.
-
Kinda Cool
Dennis...How long of a run was the "EN" fabric? Is it now discontinued?
- Go baby go!
-
Kinda Cool
You didn't rain on my parade... I want to know if I'm talking out of my a$$...I was told by PO that it was original...Oh well...All readers, please disregard what I wrote.... Tim B.

Kinda Cool
How rare is a original car cover....This came with my '72....original 99.9% prestine condition...along with the storage bag....Pretty cool, huh?

Mystery Metal
Could anyone tell me what this piece of metal was used for? A series of snaps have also been installed on the passenger door. A leather "satchel" with matching snap pattern also came with the car. I asked a few months ago about the snaps and Carl (Beck) wrote back and thought it was part of a rally package, which I believe to be true. Could this bar be part of the rally equipment? It has been installed to last the test of time! Any thoughts would be great. Thanks all... Tim

By the way...no rust was found.....anywhere!

Up dated intro
Hey everybody...My name is Tim,I introduced myself almost a year ago.I'm the guy that did some things a little backwards when I got my baby...but all worked out well! I'm the Southern Calif. guy that went back east to get my Z. After going over the ads here and also ebay,I found a 1972 Z in Fon du lac Wisconsin. After talking to the owner a couple of times, and going by the pics, pulled the plug and bought her.Long story short,it arrived, and turned out to be everything I was told it was...and really better! The engine is totally strong, and the 4 speed is a smooth as silk.It had one respray on it done in the original color,918 orange. The only problem I had was it was a very "busy" metal flake. So I had it torn down and resprayed a straight 918 paint job...much better IMHO.While torn down I replaced weatherstriping and rubber...new windshield...new outside door handles...new 3 row radiator with new braided hoses...thermostat housing...thermostat housing and sending unit... new magnaflow exhaust with a 15" glasspack in the middle...original dash looks like it came out of the factory yesterday...original interior except had the seats redone with new foam...new headliner.I changed the steering wheel only because of hanging drywall for 40 years, arthritis has set in and I needed a beefer grip. The front bumper came with the overrider bar on it,but the back didn't so I asked help from you guys.I heard from 3 or 4 people(which I thought was pretty cool).TLorber offered my one and being only 40 miles away,I jumped on it!Thanks Todd...I'm jealous of your shop too...rechromed both bumpers and put new rubber on them...bought new rims...American Racing Outlaw II's 14X7.I know I'm forgetting things...but I'm getting burned out pushing these keys...I took some pics at the local park yesterday,2-25...Hope I have the smarts to put some up here. Not to keep bringing it up,and this will be the last time(probably)...the only thing I am missing is that dual stack tail pipe...the one I sent WingZero 425.00 for...that was last June....Choke on it Zero....not that I hold grudges...anyways I hope you enjoy the pics!.... Tim

I'm Bringing Back Tha Twin Stacks ^_^ !
I,ve been trying to get either my dual stack...or my money back since June 10th...no luck....I always had to contact him...none from him....Good-bye $425.00...Like I wrote earlier....BEWARE!!
-
Beware!!!
Just wanted all to know to watch out for a scam....wingZro..... Last June 10th I got in touch with this guy (after reading satisfied customers comments) to buy one of his dual stack tail pieces..... After one excuse after another he finally tells me (I had to get in touch with him) that the welding shop messed up his product and he was going to give me my money back.....That's cool, except after taking my mailing info...not once but three times....he said a portion of my money would be mailed on Sunday....that was 3 weeks ago. I give up on my 425.00....how stupid I feel....oh well....just be warned! if you wanna write and tell me how stupid I was....I deserve it!Don't give this guy any of your hard earned money is my advice to you all!....
