Can anyone recommend a good insurance company who specializes in vintage cars. I know somewhat about milage restrictions but what about the condition of the car now versus when I start redoing it or when it gets done.(Someday). I live in the northeastern U.S. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure I 'll be asking many more questions in the future.

How can I determine the proper paint code for my '71 Z?

Hi guys, all this talk about gearboxes has me wondering. I have a march of 71 Z which makes it a series II car. Should it have an "A" or "B" type 4spd. Currently it has an S-bend shifter in it which seems too far forward in the trans tunnel because a previuos owner notched out the metal and the console for third gear. According to my genuine factory service manual it should have a straight shifter. I questioned a couple of z enthusiasts here in the States and have been told not to bother switching back to the proper trans. Is this true and if so when did the the S-type shifter start being used. I would like to get a console to fit this shifter. Or, is there a direct bolt in five speed I can swap in. Thanks, any help is much appreciated.
  5. Hi guys and gals, my name is Jeff and I live in Ct. My log on sums up my zcar. I have always wanted one since my uncle had a brand new blue one in '73. I have been collecting things about these cars for years and finally last spring I was surprised by my girlfriend with my "dream z". She took me to an abandon building where in the parking lot sat a '71 240z with a cardboard for sale sign on it. The car "looked" great at night by the light of a near by street light. Recent paint, new tires, vintage kidney mag wheels and rear spoiler. I took down the VIN and proceeded to go online where I found a list of original owners with original purchase dates. To my amazement, my research found that the car was built the same year and month I was born. Needless to say I bought the car. It is a beautiful metalic red with black interior which my girl friend did an awesome job reconditioning after we had the seats recovered. These cars sound so nice with a header and a Pacesetter exhaust system which ours has. My question to anyone is this, some one transplanted a newer 4spd. trans with an S-shaped shifter. They modified the center console to make it fit. Will a 72-73 or 74 console fit the shifter better while also fitting the car? Thanks.
