  1. I'm not sure how far it is (not very) from Santa Barbara... but make sure you get to Solvang... a little "scandanavian" town with grat restaurants, bakeries and shops. Good way to pass an afternoon. An I agree... Santa Ynez wineries are great... the movie Sideways was filmed in and around this area. Enjoy!

A delicate operation... I will proceed with caution to minimize damage to the pins ans the paint finish. Thanks for the heads-up.

I've noticed some "bubbles around the edge of the Datsun and 240Z emblems on the rear hatch. How do I remove them without damaging them. Do they just pull out or do I need to remove the panel from the inside of the hatch. Thanks.

Anyone have the name / # of a good reliable Z mechanic in the NY / NJ area. I'm in Staten Island and have a 72 240 in need of a new exhaust system and carb balancing / adjusting. Thanks for the help.

Had my 72 z out for a ride tonite. Got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and began to notice that the clutch was acting funny. I had to continuously keep the revs up... as hi as 4 grand to keep the clutch from chattering, the engine from shaking and the car from stalling. Once I cleared the traffic jam it seemed to be OK. What was wrong and how do I fix it. Thanks. Joe

Try Hagerty.com I insure a '72 for $10,000 cost about $125. They are flexible and have no mileage limits. 1-800-922-4050. I called a bunch of places...they were the most reasonable. Hope it helps. Good luck!

Try collectors insurance at Hagerty.com if it is not a daily driver.

Stephen... I'm in Staten Isand and just got a 72 240 this spring. I could use the names of a few reliable Z mechanics in the area as well as some info on the NJ Z Club (if you'll consider a Staten Islander). Thanks. Joe

Thanks guys... I'll look into the sender unit and jiggle a few wires/ connedtions and hope for the best. Yup...heading towards the red-line would definitely be worse.

Have stock '72 z. When idling the temp moves nicely and stays at dead center. When travelling, temp gauge goes back to zero. What should I look for. I've already replaced the t-stat. Thanks.

How can I be sure all my numbers match. I'v located the numbers on my passenger side block... L24 070XXX. What does this tell me about my car and what numbers should this match elsewhere. Does it have any correlation to the vehicle ID #? I'm new at this and was curious. Thank.

When driving at night, headlights are dim...when I rev the engine they get brighter. Also, at night with headlights on, the turn signals flash v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. During the day, with no lights on they are fine. What can be done to help with these issues. Thanks.
  19. Cary... Do you still have the wheels for sale? Let me know. Thanks. Joe
  20. Interesting Thread. I happen to own a classic 1972 240Z and a 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe. I did not buy the G35C for its Z lineage...nor because it resembled a 350Z. I was looking for a coupe that was fun to drive, backed by impeccable service and nice to look at...the G35C is all that...but that being said...it is not a Z. My two cars satisfy two very different "urges" for me, and I am pleased with both. I would however, NOT join the Z club if I were solely a G35C owner...there are several other venues available such as g35driver.com and freshalloy.com that satisfy my need to communicate with drivers of the G35 cars. As stated above, my reason for being here at Classic Z is that I enjoy viewing, learning and perusing the Z Forum. It satisfies a need. I enjoy both cars...but the Z is Special. Just my 2 cents.
