  1. I've read dozens of threads trying to find the answer to this, but most seem to be discussing pairing it with the 6AL, Mallory distributor or upgrading older 240z's... Is the MSD Blaster 2 coil plug and play for my stock '76 280z? (L28 EFI) Do I need the MSD 8910 tach adapter and if so, where do I hook that up? Pics would be appreciated.
  2. I also own an e30 sedan/saloon.

I too just recently installed the MSA manifold bolt kit on my car thinking they were Nissan original parts (a few of the bolts even came sealed in Nissan parts bags). I didn't think much of it until I saw this thread, but the nuts are definitely "normal" nuts as I was able to thread them on by hand. I just had to retorque them this weekend because the manifold was leaking and I suppose I now know the reason. >.< I was also disappointed that the MSA manifold bolt kit did not include the thick washers that are used to join the manifolds. Another question I have is what is supposed to be used on the far ends of the stock manifold where it has enlarged holes. Just large flat washers? Also, I assumed that flat washers went under the small bolts on the exhaust manifold (i.e. the three found in the center) even though none were included with the MSA kit and none were on the car when I removed the manifold. Is this correct?
  4. I get the occasional Porsche comment (must be the round headlamp, sloping hatchback look that inspires these), and once had someone ask about my Mazda (no idea where that comes from, I fail to see the resemblance), but most people that express interest in the car "knew someone who used to own one" and have some Z memory that they will relate. Everyone assumes that it is faster than it is (face it, without quite a bit of engine work these cars are slow as balls by modern standards). The 280Z/280ZX mistaken identity thing is rampant and is probably the thing that annoys me the most but the idea that the 280 "was so much larger" than the 240 runs a close second.
  5. Yeah, I'm looking at having some secondary pipes similar to the 240z's fabbed up. I can't begin to imagine how much power I am down due to that pinched collector. Is there anywhere that I can get a new exhaust flange for where it bolts up to the manifold or am I going to need to cut out my old one and reweld it to the new pipes? Trying to make a custom exhaust similar to Arne's with a magnaflow and vertical slash tips. Apologies to ozconnection for the thread derailment.
  6. A 25% or even 10% improvement in horsepower or performance is probably a bit optimistic... But I don't doubt that replacing the stock exhaust has to help the engine quite a bit, look at how restrictive the stock y-pipe was on my 280:
