  1. Thank you. I've been inspired and enjoyed following your rebuild, as well. You have done a great job and I plan on using your notes to help me when I recover my seats. Here are a few more pics of the interior and the exterior before I started the restoration. Check out the headliner and the shifter boot.
  2. Thank you. I wish that I could lay claim to the garage, but that belongs to Classic Cars of Houston. My home garage is a much more "intimate" space. Here are a few pics from the engine tear down and rebuild. When i purchased the car it only had 52,000 miles on it and so the engine just needed a little re-honing, repainting and refreshing. New rings, bearings, seals etc., plus a good old fashioned valve job.
  3. Thank you. My first car (purchased a '72 240z in 1979) had the 112 Yellow, otherwise known Lime Green (more like Tennis Ball Green), so I am pretty partial to the greens.
  4. Going with a black interior. Since the original owner customized the interior in 1974, every component, except the dash and console, needs replacement. I wanted to go with tan, but I worried that I wouldn't be able to get all of the parts and in the proper shades of tan. Here are a couple of pics of the seats.
  5. Thanks. Yes the paint job was actually a cool shade of green. It apparently came from The House of Kolors in California. The racing stripes and the interior were very retro, but it is time to take it back to how it looked when it rolled out of the factory. The last of the suspension was taken off today and all of the nuts, bolts and washers are off to get replated in cadmium.
  6. And after 12 months this is where I am today. I have removed every nut, bolt and part from the car, had it stripped down to the bare metal and repainted back to it's original 113 metallic green (plus a few coats of clear).
  7. Here is a picture of the look that I am after
  8. I purchased this one-owner cream puff in April of 2012. It was repainted and semi-customized in 1974 and if Scooby Doo had a 240z, instead of a van, it would look like this. My plan was to drive it for a few months and then start on a minor cleanup and engine refresh. The refresh slowly turned into a full blown paint-stripping, nuts and bolts restoration and it has been a blast. I couldn't have made it this far without using this forum as a resource for all things 240z. I will start to post some pics from the last 12 months.
  9. Stephen, I'm in Houston and about to undertake a similar project on my 72 240Z. i spoke to Datsun Spirit about some parts and/or an overhaul - it sounds like you have been happy with them, so far? I might also be interested in some of your parts from your L24, including the carbs, intake and tube, if available. I'm not trying to cut in front of others, if they are already spoken for. Either way, congratulations on your project....it sure looks nice.
