  2. While mods are definitely cool, staying close to the original is always better. Consider how austere the grille design of the zs are up to year 1978 and better cooling effect on the engine would come to mind.
  3. Thanks again. You mentioned headlights and heater. Headlights work on dim position, but only left side{pass. side) works on hi-beam and both works only when I rev the motor. BTW, heater was not working since I got it. Have replaced the fusibles since I read your reply. Thanks very much, appreciate.
  4. Thanks for the kind response beermanpete. The problem has been around for a couple of years now but somehow been living with it. About a year ago, I opened the f. link covers and found messed up wires and connectors. I thought this could be problem so I made my own, really neat ones but used a thicker gauge for both. It somehow made a difference but still doing it. Did I do a no-no insofar as the wire gauge is concerned? Thanks for inputs.
  5. I takes 3-5x before ignition key starts the car and sometimes it does right up. Batt and starter were tested ok at local parts store. Is it time to replace ignition assy? Appreciate any inputs. Thank you.

I attempted to take off my '78 280z cpe by starting to take the 2 bolts where the jack points are, bolts in engine area from in front of cowl up to headlight bucket, I was able to actually see what's behind it, debris e.g. leaves, etc. but stopped as there were other bolts which were holding the fender and I got anxious that I might not be able to complete the job that I intended to do, align the driver side door, beside the curiosity how the inner metal condition is behind the fender.

There's no other way except to take off the door panel and it takes patience to even tighten the lone side mirror which tends to loosen over time. There are a lot of after-market products out there. Goodluck in your search for a good one for Ted!

Goodluck and I'm sure you'll find memorable hours working on your zee! We all know that patience is the key to a worthwhile endeavor. I got my '78z cpe(hunter green) w/ 40k and needed a lot of replacements too, and I'm glad that there are resto websites/stores around CA. It wasn't a walk in the park, but with resolve you can do it.
  9. I replaced the original rubber mustache bar bushings w/ pu ones in my '78 cpe by the same route (burning the rubber) and slid the new ones in. I'm not sure whether I saw inner metal sleeves when the rubber burned out. Perhaps like some Datsun parts are made, they differ from one year model to the other. Hope you do yours without much trouble.
  10. I have Minilites 14" w/ Dunlops, I'm happy w/them.
