hard clutch pedal
I have two 240z, one the clutch pedal is nice and soft when pressed to change gear. The other 240z, the clutch pedal is hard to press, I already changed new clutch master and slave cylinders. The transmission is a 5 speed from 280z with unknown clutch. Do you know why the pedal is hard to press? Is it because it might have a performance clutch so stiffer spring? It is almost a chore to drive. Any advice and input greatly appreciated.

backfire on throttle when warm after idling...
Touch the fuel bowls with your hand when you have the problem. If it is hot, you most likely have cavitation in stop and go. Pop the hood to see problem goes away.

1971 rebuild
I will definitely get a higher quality rubber for doors. MSA windshield and hatch good fit? Im choosing between black dragon and msa for weatherstrip of windshield and hatch only. Any experience between the two. Tks for input

1971 rebuild
Taz, Do you have issues with the door rubbers not closing correctly from MSA. The windshield and hatch rubbers good fit? The car is 99% rust free, and only surface rust. Preparation took the longest and painting was fast. I used two epoxy primer sprays and sand between paint. Two color sprays, and 4 layers of polyurethane clear coat. Again sanding between coats. Once I'm done installing all the body parts, I will wet sand with 2000 grit sandpaper, then polish.

1971 rebuild
I am not a painter by trade. The paint job will usually turn out good with focused preparation. I need to get the entire weatherstripping. Is MSA a good kit?

240z Choke Cable Sticking
I have done 2 very hard choke cable when pull. Very easy trick to lube. Disconnect cable from carbs, then get a small fuel hose that go over the cable. The fuel hose must be small diameter so it gives a tight fit over cable, get a lubricator with spray tube and spray away. Trick takes less than 5 minutes. No need to get inside the center console.

front seal and crankshaft oil thrower
when installing the pulley to the crankshaft, it slides through the front seal lip. Over time, the seal lip somehow makes a groove in the shaft. I have a diesel cummins and it did the same thing, they sell a sleeve that slide in so you don't have to replace it.

front seal and crankshaft oil thrower
I took out the pully to change the front seal. There are grooves in the pulley dampener. Do I have to replace the pulley dampener or I can buy a sleeve to put it in? Secondly the crankshaft oil thrower is not held in place and it is just loose. It is not attached to anything and just sit loosely in the crankshaft. This is just weird. Can you tell me how to install the oil thrower correctly? tks in advance

car is sluggish
Success. The problem for running sluggish was not getting the mixture right and synchronizing both carbs correctly. Now it runs good. tks.

car is sluggish
I found out they are not falling at the same rate when I taped the two holes on the piston. The one that is real loose has less grooves on the piston making it slide faster.

car is sluggish
The front suction piston opens 1/2 and back piston opens fully when revving. Now I swapped the front piston to the back one. The front one now opens all while the back one opens 1/2. The piston that opens 1/2 now is doing the same thing after swap. The piston looks clean and the needle is good and straight. The gas floats are the same on both carbs. Is this a bad piston? tks

car is sluggish
ok, I suspect the air flow is uneven so I'm getting a flow meter. How do you increase the airflow? tks

car is sluggish
Hi all, I recently acquired a '73 with a '71 su carbs. It has been garaged for the last 25 years. I took out the gas tank and give it a good clean. Changed all the fuel, coolant hoses, and new spark plugs. I took out both domes to give them a good cleaning. The front piston of the carb travel less than the back. Aren't they suppose to travel the same distance when you rev the engine? The pistons travel freely up and down so no binding. I put sae 5w20 for damper oil. It can rev 6000+ rpm, but when I put it in 1st gear, the engine is very sluggish and dies eventually, the compression is good. Any suggestion would be appreciated, and if you know a good mechanic in the los angeles/orange county area, please let me know. tks in advance.
