Starts right up, then falls on its face.
I have a new fuel pressure regulator on the car, I'm fairly confident that I have enough fuel pressure as it runs fine after the first initial start up. As for a cold start I don't know. I'm not gonna say no but I'm not gonna rule it out. But pretty much let me try and describe this better. I turn the key and it will start right up no problem but after the start it falls and dies. So starting is not a problem. I might not be describing this properly and i apologize for that.

Starts right up, then falls on its face.
Pretty much what happens is I will turn the key and it will start right up then if i don't give it gas it will just die after maybe a second. I can keep it running but i have to hit the gas pedal a few times then it will be fine running on it's own. It's like I have to "prime" it while it's running to keep it running. The car is a 1978 280Z all stock it's my daily driver and something I've come used to but when you go to start your car and the ladies are around and it dies it doesn't look to cool anymore. :disappoin It does not happen however after its been ran for awhile it seems to only do it after sitting for maybe an hour or more. Any info is appreciated guys, thanks in advance. Nathan

Insight on an old 240z
Although maybe i'm jumping to conclusions i'm just kind of scared from the stories that I've heard from people buying cars with no titles and then spending a lot of money or just having the car taken away because they did not have the title. I am completely willing to listen to your opinions and advice on this one. I own a 1978 280Z and I love the idea of owning a 240Z along with the 280Z.

Insight on an old 240z
From what I've been told the owner of the property did not even have a title for it or never filed for one, as much as I love the idea of owning two Z cars bought IMO dirt cheap it may be in best interest to stay away to prevent myself from getting screwed by buying the car then getting caught up in fees and time for a title that I may not get or have it come back as a stolen car. As much as I'd love to have it I don't think it would be a wise idea. I might see if I can just get some parts like the wheels off of it and then kind of just see what i can get off of it.

Insight on an old 240z
The city has come to own a (going off the door jamb plate) 2/72 HLS30-69776 I know there is a z registry but, other than that is there no real way of finding history of these cars? If not can anyone on here give me insight to the history of the car, maybe it is a long lost love for someone on here. I'm looking to buy it and would just like to know a bit more if anyone can help because I will have to fight to achieve a lost title as the previous owner never filed for one. And i'd hate to see this beautiful blue beauty be scrapped

Are either of these books worth buying?
Thanks guys, appreciate the responses. I have thought about it but was not sure if the books were full of useful info or not. But after reading through the posts that you all have submitted I am convinced that they should be pretty useful. Thanks.

oil pressure sending unit.
It was the sender itself.

oil pressure sending unit.
I have a 1978 280Z all stock the oil pressure gauge has suddenly stopped working, that or i simply have no oil pressure. I do know that there was an oil leak around the sending unit, someone decided to screw the sending unit still wired up further towards the block and now it reads nothing. Is it as simple as unscrewing the sending unit away from the block and it will start reading the pressure again, or am i gonna be getting a hold of that person to buy me a new unit?

Cannon triple carb intake.
Thanks man.

Cannon triple carb intake.
Will this intake bolt on directly and work with an N47 head and work perfectly?

Advantages of cam swaps?
Finally got around to looking deeper into it and found that the "F" stamped cam is for a P79 head. My car is a 1978 280Z with an N47 head along with all other N47 parts. My question is, are there any advantages to the PO doing this or is it something to not worry about? I have the valve lash adjusted to what called for in the manual.

Possible head gasket problem?
Alright guys I'll either do that tonight or tomorrow night and hopefully we can figure it out from there. Thanks

Possible head gasket problem?
I've got a 1978 280Z all stock and I've had a few people tell me that white smoke comes out of the exhaust. Well today I have seen it for myself. Is it my head gasket that has gone bad? It only does this when I get on it. And if so how hard is it to change the head gasket on the L28E. Sorry if these are stupid questions, and thank you.

Hand Brake replacement, I could use some advice.
I know what had happened, rock auto or hell maybe even the brake company only gave me 1/4th of what was in the picture. Rockauto said to send it back and they would give me a full replacement.

Hand Brake replacement, I could use some advice.
The "blocks" that I speak of I think are called side retainers.

Hand Brake replacement, I could use some advice.
I own a '78 280Z that has had the parking brake seized up. I have purchased a new cable and now I am kind of clueless as to put it on. I only ordered the cable itself with nothing else from rock auto. I've been under the car to install it and have followed the original cable and have ran into these blocks that the original cable sets in. There is no way to get the old cable out of these block (I call them blocks cause I don't know what the correct term is) besides cutting the old cable and pulling it through. I just need to know if I messed up on my order or if there is a way to get the cable off an on. Thanks

RPM increase between each shift.
The problem was the dash pot. Removed it and now its fine, thanks for the help guys.
-
RPM increase between each shift.
Alright thanks, I have done a bit of searching about the Anti stall dashpot and seen that some people have taken them off while others leave it on. I'll try that tomorrow before I head off to work, and I've already cleaned the inside of the throttle body.

RPM increase between each shift.
The car has been doing it as long as I have had it, which is about 3 months but only maybe a month and a half of solid driving. This occurs every time that I drive regardless of temperature of the car or the environment.
-
RPM increase between each shift.
all stock

RPM increase between each shift.
Wow, sorry it's a 1978 280Z with 5 speed tranny.
-
RPM increase between each shift.
The title says it all, every time i shift my RPM will shoot up just from pressing the clutch in for each shift. Any ides on a solution? If you need anymore information I will provide all i can. Thanks

One heck of a '78 280Z
well she smokes no more, and i think the cause of the richness is injectors, i know for a fact one is the wrong size (it's pink) the rest are a dark green but i plan on replacing all injectors on the beast, then fixing the exhaust. I know this is in the wrong part of the forum and i don't want to switch topics for to long here but are the results with the exhaust system into a straight pipe good? cause mine has holes all over getting into the cab and it NEEDS to be replaced.

One heck of a '78 280Z
yeah i have ran through the FSM about when i first purchased the car, the only thing that i found wrong was the TVS. running rich is an issue i would kind of like to put off for a bit and put more attention on the smoke, i know they are both problems that need to be fixed but i can but new sensors if need be for the running rich issue. And Zed Head yeah the reason i bought it was cause it is a 5 speed manual, it's a damn sexy car and it started an ran. Plus it was only 900 dollars haha. But yeah i have ran through the FSM and came back with the TVS not being correct (corroded connector). I just dont know where to start to find out what is causing the oil to be burnt. I really appreciate all the responses guys again any ideas or thoughts will be looked into and checked out the best i can. Thanks
