Some Scarab pics
EZ off oven cleaner. If it can clean tough baked on food it'll clean off grease and grime, just use chem glove or similar rubber gloves, it's nasty stuff. I also like laquer thinner for wiping down surfaces just before you paint them, it gets any remaining dirt, grease and grime off your parts.

Some Scarab pics
Hey everybody, haven't been around here in a while. Here are some pics of Scarab #154. I completed the suspension rebuild back in the spring. I also located and restored an original set of Scarab valve covers and ran across an original unused radiator. All the brakes received attention too. I rebuilt the original front 4 piston FIA calipers with a NOS seal kit, one piston had to be replaced due to pitting that could not be polished out. Please PM me with any questions you may have. Enjoy!!! Reason suspension needed rebuilding... Suspension before: Suspension parts soaking in EZ off. After: Valve covers before and after: Close up Exhaust cleaned up Exhaust coated with POR-15 HIGH HEAT BLACK. Great stuff!!! Midwest Zfest Omaha, NE Track Mid America Motorplex

Ideas from the Z Gurus of the world.
I would suggest changing out the lube in the tranny and bleeding the clutch. I presonally have never experenced this type problem but taking a step in the maintence direction can help your search for the problem. ds

Steering wheel replacement
Timberwolf, the replacement is quite easy just be sure to stop by Auto Zone and loan out a 3 arm puller. This tool is needed to remove the old wheel from your Z The new wheel will come with and install kit which will allow you to install with minimal effort. Be sure to watch the wire that attaches to the horn button, (disconnect the Battery or the horn will sound when grounded. Also make sure your tires are straight when installing the wheel or it will be offcenter when you start driving. Maybe we could hookup some time I'm over here in NW Arkansas about 2 hours away. LMK Good luck ds

Leaking fuel
My 73Z is leaking fuel from the driver side bottom of the fuel tank hose (hose that exits the fuel tank) It appears that this hose is the OE braided vintage stuff. Where does this hose go to? It goes into the upper part of the car through a hole and dissapears (where does it end?) I've got to put the car outside tonight for fear of fire (gas waterheater in garage) Any and all replys are apperciated. Thanks, ds

Crane XR3000 ignition wiring question
Hi all, I was tidying up the wires under my hood and trying to get my tach to work but to no avail. Does anyone have the install instructions on the Crane XR3000 ignition module. The prior owner installed the part and I can’t figure out what he did. I have tried to reference the wiring scheme in the Haynes manual but it seems that I have wires near the distributor that don’t belong there. The car currently starts and runs in the following configuration Here is where my wires are currently going From XR3000: Yellow – coil Red + coil Z wiring Green white to coil + Black with white to coil + Black wire that goes to the round thing on the side of the distributor (what is that thing?) Extra wires are: Solid green Black with yellow Yellow with white

E-88 head and L-28 block (long)
Well I'm getting the HP bug here in the snow, the mind starts racing. I have a rebuilt L-28 short block (from my rusted out 77' 280Z) and a good E-88 head on my current 240. I would like to put the E-88 on the L-28 and install a MS cam (grind #17033) Lift int/ex .480 Duration In/Ex 274 I currently have 72SU's, Crane XR3000 ignition, and a headder on the engine. My questions are: 1. will the head/block combo work? 2. What will the approximate compression ratio be with a stock head gasket/L-28 has dished pistons. 3. According to Motosprots they recommend a complete valve job on the head and replacing rockers, springs and lash pads. Is this truly necessary? I understand the importance of the rockers because they come in contact with the cam, but springs? I feel MS is a bit high on their cam kit and even their cams seem a bit pricy any sugguestions on other vendors for these parts? Thanks to all whom respond, nwa240z
