  1. No thanks, Randy. I'll take the high road, and abbreviate my disappointment; returning them to you would be a leap of faith. Caveat emptor George
  2. Hi, YES and YES ......and YES YES: Please visit my post (with multiple pictures) documenting the tail light refurbishment project. As you will readily observe, I had to silicone the center post hole due to the inadequate post length. As such, there is no mechanical retention relative to that of a properly anchored post. YES: The esthetics continue to be pleasing. That said, my Z is living the life of a Royal coach; used selectively on fine summer days and hibernating in warmth throughout our long cold winters. YES: Fact is, the seller reneged on his commitment to me.....YES, sour grapes......buyer beware!! Cheers, George
  3. Randy, "Accurate to the last detail" is a bit of a stretch unless you elongated the length of the center post subsequent to the pair you sold to me. Cheers, George

Other brands: Yes... During the 1970's two additional companies, Lucas and Bosch, made very good quality halogen fog, driving and headlights; maybe they still do.
  5. You might find my post (03 Jan 2013) of some value. It was a contribution made after plagiarizing ideas from several older posts and the successful completion of my project attempt. Cheers, George
  6. The Bricklin SV1 was made here in New Brunswick. I can understand if you have never heard of New Brunswick as it is a poor province in eastern Canada with a total population of ~750K. Our Premier at the time, Richard Hatfield, otherwise known as ,'Tricky d***', had a dream about building this automotive amalgam. d*** has since departed this world but the memory and tax payer's pain lives on!! All that said, I hope you enjoy your new ride. Cheers, George
  7. Well said, Blue!! You are a gentleman who, 'walks the talk'. Thank you for your wisdom, kindness and guidance. Cheers, George
  8. No offense taken!! And, in view of subsequent posts (commenting on Castrol GTX, in particular), I'm very interested to read about what oil(s) available today are most suitable for our 40+ year old engines. The bottom line is it appears that, at this time, there is not a definitive product or combination of products for any or all types of driving applications. Here's a thought: Set up a survey with criteria specific to driving patterns, tabulate the responses and post them. Some examples: racing or touring; stock or modified engine, and; seasonal or continuous usage. Zed Head, in answer your questions, please contact 'Blue' as he carried out the procedures and thus has more knowledgeable answers. That said, there were less < 2K miles on the rebuild when cam issues arose, and >3k miles subsequently without any perceptive problems. George
  9. Here's my 'for what is worth': After breaking in an engine rebuild I thought a full synthetic would be wise choice...it wasn't!! Replaced the cam, and reverted to Castrol GTX with a supplement of ZDDP...no more issues ZDDP is cheap, readily available, and appears to serve its purpose. George
  10. Likewise....thought the problem was somewhere in my system....please resend these pics as this is appears to be an interesting/ wonderful find. Thanks, George
  11. I recommend: Eastwood's Rubber Plastic and Vinyl Restore 6 oz Avoid expense of replacing weather-stripping, vinyl tops, floor mats..… $12 and worth more Cheers, George

Hi Mark, Welcome to the club. You're fortunate to have sourced such a treasure...right place/right time; not to mention having your Dad's wisdom at hand. As an original owner of a '71, like a few other members, I'm curious to know the production date and serial number. Wishing you lots of enjoyment George

While there be sure to experience their native drink, 'Dark N Stormy'
  14. An additional step in the refurbishment to consider: Coat the grey interior of the tail light housing with white paint while you have the opportunity. The end result will surpass your expectations. If interested in the documentation, please refer to post: 437763 Here's another attempt to direct you to it: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/48126-240z-tail-light-refurbishment/ George
  15. Yes...there is a difference in smell between the low and high octane gas. Perhaps it's due to the additives that are only blended into the high octane fuel. Here's another observation: Gas sold in New Brunswick, Canada smells different than that sold in Maine, USA. Yet, get this, they both are produced at the same refinery. Happy Thanksgiving to those CZCC members south of the border. Hope old man weather doesn't adversely affect your travel plans. George

Add the steering wheel to the list.
  18. HI, Just measured my Series I: The metal base is positioned 0.5" vertically below the ss metal window trim, and 27.25" anterior to the rear lip of the door skin horizontally. Hope this helps George

"This is what comes up when you search Motor Master & ATV700 & Kawasaki & Universal Joint. Doesn't look like what's on my steering shaft??" Call, 'Joe' @ 520-8884-0217 He will answer your questions and address your concerns accordingly. George

"I'm still hoping for something not inside the rack itself. Inner tie rod ends or steering coupler would be easier to find than a whole rack. U-joints from what I've heard would be no treat to find though... Let's hope that's not it either." Actually, the U-joints are not too difficult to source. Google: Motor Master & ATV700 & Kawasaki & Universal Joint Shop around as the price varies significantly George
  21. "As technology marches on I can envision a day in the near future when a kid will see a key and ask “what is that shiny thing for?” Much like how kids today have their minds blown when they learn what a cassette tape is and all the nuances that came along with using them." A few months ago, while showing my Series 1 at a local event, I heard a six or seven year old child ask his mother what the window crank on the driver's door was for. My son-in-law has a BRZ and he's as proud of it as I am of my Z, now 43 years later. Enjoyed your subjective comparisons....thanks for sharing George
  22. By way of an example, I ruined the paint finish on a brand new Yamaha snowmobile covered with a brand new Yamaha custom cover while trailering it....not happy!!
  23. I think it's a Series II, but what to heck....She's a beauty!!

Welcome, and congratulations on your purchase of a one owner. Is it a '72? Would be nice to see more pictures and read the history of your Z.
  25. Dr. 240Z replied to Marty Whitfield's post in a topic in Open Discussions
    Welcome....Looks to me like a Series II so could be a later '71, a '72 or a '73.
