  1. Questions ... 1. Why did you remove the half shafts ? when I replace my diff with one from a 720 I just laid the m to the side. Now i want an LSD. Is this required with a STI diff? Also I working on getting a STI diff with a stripped drain bolt are the covers interchangeable Thanks Dan

    Thanks for the info . Ratsun has been a big help looks they have the same spline count. If I was understanding it correctly he was taking out the viscous type out and putting a clutch style lsd in. May have found another I will keep you posted.

    Well ... never mind the dude just sold his last 2. apparently they come from Japan and use the same spline as the 240. thats about all I know thanks for the info

    I am looking to buy a clutch LSD r160 from an old subaru any thoughts ? Is the LSD worth the 400$ ? I assume my handling will improve alone with some front and back sway bars. From what i read it will handle up to 200 hp. I may one day go to a turbo set up but nothing too crazy just stock. thanks for any input

    In my 72 240z I have a 3.9 r180 dif. I also have a 4.11 diff in my garage. My car is fun now but one day I would like to go with a turbo. I have read an r 180 is fine if the turbo is stock . Is this true ? and how much HP can i go to with the 180 ? and would 4:11 be too low of gearing for a turbo set up ? thanks DC

    i am sorry I was asking if this was a LSD I was told it was an r190 LSD. Looks like like I got my answer thanks . How can you tell the seller told me that both axles turned .

    man i would love to believe that the holley is the choice. i know holleys and learning su carbs buttt... If your speedo is anything like mine 60 is really 50 and 90 is about 74 . If they are so great why isnt everybody doing it . I AM NO EXPERT. but am really curious . I really have to question z therapy vs holley set up would love hear others chime in
  13. I ordered a 1980 Brake MC from advanced. They sent me one that had no marking noting size like the old ones do. It looks a little bigger than the old one any easy way to tell if it is 15/16" . I crossed the part numbers with the 240z and it was different .

    After a ton of part swapping figured it out stupid super trapp muffler was to restrictive loosen bolt and all is good.....

    The car will start and idle fine run up to 3500 rpm when the secondaries should kick and boggs any ideas ? Before switch over to su carbs iwanted to try to get these going . I tried unscrewing and cleaning out the jets no help thanks it is a 73' l24 240z thanks
  16. Thanks for the info i came across a turbo car in my area thinking I may pull the trigger. he said it would idle but when you stepped on the gas it would die the price was reasonable if nothing else part out. Now just to find the 75-76 gas tank .
  17. thanks, I figure it would be easier to go 54/79 route. curious about different set ups . so ball park rear wheel hp numbers 54/79 stock was 135 i figure maybe 150 on mine (bored, shaved, headers, su carbs, stock cam) add 15 hp with cam and 15 with triples. The big question is would I really Feel any major difference ? between the 2 engines or upgrades there after . i see you have a built 2.4 any idea of rear wheel hps? I have a close ratio 5speed w/ 3.9, Does the LSD make that much difference ? it seems to me that I almost want to have sway bars first. Thanks dc
  18. Ideas ? I have a 72 240z, w/ stock n42 engine/block elct. ign., headers and su carbs. the compression is about 150 across, hot, there is a small oil leak at the head above #3 cylinder but runs good. I also have a f54 block with flat tops bored .20 over newly rebuilt 10:1 comp. with coated headers and rebuilt sus carbs, everything new dist, water/oil pump, etc. Question ... HP gains would it be worth the engine swap ? lets say hypothetically that I could sell my new set up for $1500-2000 range would the money be better spent with a head gasket and triples ? with dished pistons in the old n42? would like to go turbo but am scared of the money pit and complications I like the car. lowered , unknown shocks and Toyota brake upgrade but could use a little extra not wanting a small block thanks ' Dan

    I guess you just replaced the headliner? I am planning to do the same I have most of the black diamond vinyl that i carefully pulled from another car and was going to switch it out but am scared of the glue mess. Suggestions ? did you use aerosol glue ? I have used headliner but it has wrinkles thought I could match the piece at the fabric store . thanks

  21. That's what I thought thanks might be time to upgrade . If I go to a 3 wire I just connect the the 2 white wires together right?
  22. I dont want to high-jack but my problem is quite similar. I to upgraded with an l28 and electronic ign. All was working good (tach with ballast resistor) until ... I left the key in the ignition over night. Woke up to dead battery. When i got it running now my tach goes to redline bottom when key is on and back to 0 when off. tried a new ballast resistor a nothing any suggestion ? thanks

    Ok I installed the tailight relay and now my 3rd fuse on the right does not get hot and break any more but still no tail or dash lights . I have .. clean all connections on the switch power on both sides of the switch I have power on the green and white wire under the steering colum and behind the radio area (connection ) have power on both sides of the fuse no power in the back Could it be a gounding issue and could I splice the black wire in the back and screw it to the body . I have down loaded the manual and started to trace the green white wire down but which one goes to the dash lights ? thanks Dan
