Fuel Supply
I'm having the worst problem with my z. It runs out of fuel when i have a full tank. I just replaced all of the fuel lines in the engine compartment with the correct size ones. I put a brand new kyosan fuel pump on. I put a new fuel filter on, and I'm still only getting about 1.5 psi of fuel pressure on the furthest line on the fuel rail. If i'm not mistaken the fuel pump should put out about 1-4 psi correct? I'm going to replace the fuel lines going into the tank soon. I think those lines are rotted out and the fuel pump is sucking air and not fuel. It's easier to suck air than fuel. Has any one else experienced anything like my dillemma. Running out of fuel under load or just crusing? It will start back up once the fuel builds up again. thanks, isaac

Rebuilding SUs?
HOlley makes, or made a rebuild kit for these carbs. i'm going to try and order a set from work. I think the kit is for one carb only. But there is one slight hang up. I don't know the exact carb I need the kit for. The kits change when the carbs id's make the transition from HJG46W-7 , to HJG46W-8. I don't want to order the wrong kit. But at only around 15$ a kit, that wouldn't be a big loss. I could probably return it anyhow. Does anyone know the exact carb id for the 71 round tops?

Lower ball joint grease boots
At my work (pep boys) we carry a nice polyuerathane set from energy suspension. Go to your local pep boys and check it out. Ask where the energy suspension display is and look for the little yellow package that has the two boots in it.

Looking for a 240z in California
I also have a 71 that is a daily driver. It's got a rebuilt motor with about 500 miles on it. New suspension, which includes: MSA springs, kyb shocks (non adjustable), Lower ball joints, tierod ends, and sway bar end links. The rust on this car is minimal. There are some spots on the rear hatch, under the battery tray (small spots), and the passenger side frame rail can use some welding. The body is fairly straight except for the wrinlkes in the roof. Paint is ok from far but you can see cracks in the paint close up. The interior is in good shape, but the seats need to be redone because they sag. No a\c. 4 speed manual, 5 slot mags, Cd player, 6-1 header with 2.5 inch pipes and an apexi n1 muffler. I am in San Diego ca. Check out my gallery for pics and drop me a line if your interested. I'm asking $3,500.

oooops
Mann you guys are friggin awesome! I love this web site! I'm going to go and try to start it back up. I've been working on my engine at school all day. Grinding valve seats is fun. My high school auto shop is building about 10 chevrolet 350's. It's quite a site to see all the students working on engines the way we do. We are going to start them up some time next week. There are a few with some pretty good parts like 11:1 pistons, Schnider cams (you should see the lobes!), forged cranks. Alot of our parts are from ex race motors. Lots of fun in that class.

My car wont start at all. It floods imediatly. When I crank it over fuel drips excessively out of the carbs. I have a 71 with dual round tops. Did you ever figure out the problem?

No start on new install :(
Thanks for all the input guys! I got it started today, but only for a few seconds. I used some starter fluid and it started right up. Few seconds later my float bowl was spitting fuel out because of a bad gasket. I had to make a new one witha sheet of cork. I made it and put it on but the thing was flooded when I tried to start it back up. I was so happy when it started up. Having done this project has made me feel a sense of acomplishment. I couldn't have done it without the help of the Z community online. Thanks guys. Anywho, I'm going to let it sit over night. Is that the way to uh.. unflood the car? Thanks , isaac

No start on new install :(
Hi there! I just put my new motor in (L24)and it won't start. I pulled out the #1 sparkplug and checked compression and it was fine. Then I checked spark and it was strong. Then I checked the fuel and there was no fuel coming out of the line from the fuel rail into the float bowl. It's got a mechanical fuel pump and it doesn't seem to suck well. The car has been sitting for a few months, since february 03. Was I supposed to put some fuel in the float bowls or something before I tried to start it up? I wasted a battery's charge trying to get some fuel into the system but to no avail. The little fuel filter has a very small amount of fuel in it. Does anyone have any ideas as to the souloution to the problem? thanks, isaac

A little confused on batter hook up.
Thanks agian! I found it, I found it. Tomorrow I will borrow some torque wrenches from school and finish torqueing everything down and try to tune my carbs to match my new cam. Or maybe I'll just take it to get tuned somewhere that has a dyno. Any who thanks a bunch isaac

A little confused on batter hook up.
The transmission is a manual 4 speed. Where is the fill level hole located?? Is it on the side? There is a few different plugs there.

A little confused on batter hook up.
BTW, On putting some transmission fluid, how is that done? Where do I fill the transmission from? I have a 260z transmission type F4W71B. Oh yea, its in the car installed. thanks, Isaac

A little confused on batter hook up.
Thanks Jeff! I got it all hooked up and it cranks over just fine. I can't wait to start it. I have to torque the drife shaft flange bolts and then put in some transmission fluid. Once again, I appreciate your help very much. Isaac

A little confused on batter hook up.
Which wire goes to which terminal. And what do I do with the extra wire coming from the battery that is not hooked up to the solenoid. Is that bellhousing bolt on the left a good place to put it?

I'm confused on how to hook my batter up. Maybe someone could give me some pointers. I have a photo attached.
