So, as an amateur, reading both comments, particularly from John Coffee, the bearings I have are good to go. Thx Ed K

I am rebuilding the front hubs of my 72 240Z with new bearings and bearing races. The new bearings I purchased from a local car parts store sold me a set packaged by federal-mogul and made in Japan. After cleaning the preservative grease, the bearings rattled way too much when moved by hand up and down, sideways and when spinning by hand. I know that when loaded with grease all of this excess movement ceases, but with use, heat will leak the grease out of the bearings creating major wear. Is there recommendid brand where movement is not so sloppy and where to buy them? I prefer Timkin bearings but where to get them for our cars? V/r Ed
  3. I finally received the billet 300ZX CV adapters from MM a few weeks ago. They are of excellent quality! I am not sorry now for the long wait, in the end what I received was what I needed. Fit and finish is first rate. I sent them off to Beta Motorsports who assembled the stub axle, bearings, CV conversion adapters, etc. in my rear strut assemblies and I am very happy with final result. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. In this case not only money, but time too. Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, EdK:)
  4. Since receiving the bag of hardware for the CV axle conversion kit, a month + ago I have not heard anything from Ross Corrigan, owner of Modern Motorsports LTD, I have called (604-224-2592) and send emails asking on the shipping status of the CV flange adapters. I paid for them with PayPall. At this point I will consider it a small miracle to hear anything positive. What a shame that this man would dive his business into the grpound. I am not aware of an other source. I am basically stuck because I sent him my stock flange adapters to be modified to the CV configuration and can not even resort back to the stock configuration. Where would I get an other set? Additionally I spent resources buying a nearly pristine set of 300zx axles and had them professionally rebuilt to their specs at a significant cost. Because of this company, my beautiful and very fast 72 240Z has become undriveable. Its become a hangar queen.
  5. I have been on this thing since beginning May, about 1 1/2 weeks ago I received the hardware for the CV flange adapters. So, things seem to be slowly moving along. Hopefully Quicker than 3-6 mos. BTW: How's the quality of the parts received? EdK
  6. I received an email from Ross yesterday with a link to PayPal. So I just bought a set of billet flange adapters, hopefully all this will come to a happy ending. Otherwise I am stuck since I sent him my flange adapters as cores and would not be able to use the stock drive shafts. He is suppose to give me credit for the cores and applied to the billets. Thanks, EdK
  7. I have had similar problems with obtaining 300ZX CV adaptors, I have sent him the cores along with a personal check, his preferred method of payment, for the modified adaptors and shipping costs and frankly don't know where I stand. I did get several emaisl - copied below. Perhaps he's just resetting his operation and all will work out. Ross has also indicated that his machining operations fro the modified ones and billets are performed "back East". I followed the instructions on his website. I have quite allot invested in getting a set of 300ZX CV axles and getting them rebuilt, is there an other source. The mated sets are not a v. quick item for us to turn around. We'll confirm receipt of our cores later today and then they'll ship back to US on Tues (long weekend here coming) with an extra charge related. Then be welded up their etc. Billet's typical choice of vast majority but we retain the welded option as a lower cost choice. I know accountant hasn't deposited your check, I'll look for it. Paypal's certainly simpler, can we upgrade you to billet and discount it $35 as aid to our slow responses? Thanks Dan, but I have already been incontact with the web site you recommended, but Mike could not help. He does carry some important restoration parts. Ed

Speaking of VIN numbers, I need a blank VIN plate. I had my 72 dash restored and the VIN plate was removed to allow the vinyl to be placed under the bracket that the plate is rivited to. The Company that restored it lost it. Any suggestions? Thanks.
