  1. Are you on there Red? And did you go to Bay to Birdwood last event??
  2. Coming up well!!!!!!!! Nice interior I need a few done too haha
  3. Happy to help. And I know the owner of that car by the way
  4. Long time no write. The car is finished!!! Heres some photos of how she turned out!!!! If you head on over to this page you can see more of what happened and how! https://www.facebook.com/WestsideKRacing?ref=hl
  5. Looking fantastic mate! They are flying through. Can't wait to see it done!! I love the choice of ferrari red as that was what i wanted to do with my other coupe project I sold. I can't cut up the race car tho so no GTR there, and my sedan would look horrible with the GTR treatment!!!! As to the low VIN it would be an early 73 car. Not the lowest I know of though, but a nice early under 1000 car !! Got to be happy with that. There is a coupe to be restored in Melbourne in the low 00500's, and in the US another coupe exported from Australia is a 00280 region VIN. My race car is sub 00430 FYI
  6. Ok i managed to source a Weber 48 IDA for the car. I need to still pick up the original race manifold from a guy a know, becuase that has the adaptor plate for it. If you see the earlier photos in the thread, the original manifold is the top "T" piece manifold, not the long runner GT style one. I want to modify the long runner style one for better flow into the intakes. It's an ITALIAN one too, so I'm stoked! Much better than the spanish equvilant. The build quality is much superior with finer tolerences. And as a bonus it came off a big port 13B rotary race motor. I'll need to check the jets/emulsion tubes/venturi/choke specs etc etc but it's already modified with the return spring on the throttle arm. I'll have a look at it for wear before deciding if I'll refurbish them myself (with some hydro blasting) or send to a great carb shop i know. Some refurbished 48 IDA's (a pair can reach $2500 AUD!!!!! ) But this was the last major peice of the puzzle to return the car back to period specifications. All the other bits I'll need I can "borrow" from my other blue 240K sedan. The cruiser gets some go fast bits and the race car gets factory, period specific "modified" parts for it. I recently caught up with some mates while checking out how the bodywork is coming on. Thats all for now
  7. Will need it for that!!!! Nervous for when I get up there
  8. Work has started!!!!! Trial fit of the repair section. Will now be cut out and repair welded in. Starting to happen quickly now 8)
  9. I contacted a few photographers about pictures. David BLANCH from the Autopics website came through!!! I sent David a copy of the log book entries and he went searching through the archives and found some gold. Now to BUY the prints!!!! These photos are from Phillip Island, Sandown and Calder Park as far as i know. The years vary from 73-75 No updates from the painters yet. I'm heading there next week to discuss colour matching to original factory paint cards.
  10. It SAYS L24.....but i doubt that. Need to get her tuned then go from there. I'd wager she's been rebuilt to be better and better since her competition debut in 1973. I'd love to get either Peter McDONNELL or Les COLLINS to pull her apart eventually and catalogue everything so i know whats going on
  11. Genuine Group C. The car was delivered to the Datsun Racing Team from Nissan directly! Only changed into private hands after Bathurst 1975
  12. i can post up a photo of a manual pedal box when i get home if you like? Both mine are manual (coupe and sedan). I'll take a few and post them straight into this thread for you If you need to see the setup I'm located in Melbourne as well. Look us up on the FB page too
  13. Yep i bought it!!! would you believe a mate called me asking if i wanted it??
  14. Yep that sure is a horn. its normally located just behind the front bumper. The oil cooler covers the usual mounting position.
  15. So this is the reason why I sold my old 1976 Kenmeri skyline. This is the Datsun 240K GL (C110 Skyline) that started racing back in 1973 in the Australian Manufacturers Championship, under the FIA Group C Classification. The car was campaigned by the Datsun Racing Team, after the car was recieved from Nissan. This car is believed to be possibly the ONLY Datsun 240K to compete in Australia under the Group C rules in the 70's. The vehicle has competed as such historic Australian racetracks such as Adelaide International Raceway (AIR), Surfers Paradise International Raceway (SPIR), Sandown Raceway, Phillip Island and Bathurst throughout its short Group C career. The vehicle stopped racing for a period of time in 1976. She has spent a fair bit of time in storage, having last competed in anger in 2007. The vehicle is currently set up to compete in Tarmac Rallies such as Targa Tasmania. At the moment the vehicle is being paint stripped to check condition of the chassis (as all early japanese cars have rust, as we know!) and then a repaint back into one of it's more iconic paint schemes. Plans are then for the car to return to where she belongs, the race track. In what capacity/class of racing, will depend on how much further information I uncover/what my budget allows. But to say I'm a little bit excited, is a massive UNDERSTATEMENT!!!! Here are some photos. This is probably the straightest, most rust free C110 I, and the guys doing the work, have ever seen!!!!!!
