  1. It was done by enthusiast's to distinguish them from one and another. There is no such thing. S30 is the series. ( chassis style ). The Z car is not unique in this, mostly all cars from that era had changes ( improvements ) occuring throughout the months/years.
  2. It is definitely NOT. S30 = SERIES ( chassis )
  3. Yes . Like I said if you look at it in that way, offcourse the L24 us specs will be lame as **** on the track.
  4. As I see it..series 1,2 3 etc doesn't exist. I could come from Carl like you said, I don't know but someybody gave that term to it. In those years, not with the S30 alone, but with many car manufacturers developments and new changes where adopted constantly into the design. So changes ( improvements ), occured along the way with no specific date.
  5. He's talking about factory rated crankshaft output, NOT gear ratios, diff ratio's and track times that affect this By the way the L24 is rated 110kw and the S20 119kw
  6. Well then if he wasn't so important for Nissan or the S30 succes in the US according to you, explain this then: https://www.automotivehalloffame.org/honoree/yutaka-katayama/ https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/LEGENDS/LEGEND_02/index.html https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2015/02/23/national/former-nissan-executive-known-father-z-sports-car-dies-105/#.XjM7hkBFzIU https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a15357465/yutaka-katayama-father-of-the-datsun-z-dead-at-105/ So your saying all these sources are lying ?
  7. I have to say it's alot of money offcourse. But like said earlier a whole new generation withs lots of cash is coming to this world... Must say I saw this coming years ago allready, when there was a sudden value rise in the average 240Z.. knowing it can only go up more once these things get older and rarer. It's the same with the muscle cars… not so much, but try to buy a decent 71 chevelle ss 454 ? You will pay big bucks...
  8. He didn't design it for sure, but he made it a succes in the states. People make mistakes, I did to
  9. That white striping with 240z letters on the side is not original correct ? Is it a sticker or painted on later ? I'm always sceptical when it comes to " survivor " cars.. along the way usually something is restored on it, but they don't tell it.
  10. I was looking into a Dino project a few years ago, but IMO they are asking way to much money for that car cause it's a " Ferrari "... I'm not going to give $^!# loads of cash for a rusty crusty restoration project myself. Not going to fall into that trap again.
  11. Exactly my thoughts. Always in the back of my mind í'm afraid some a-hole will put a nice long scratch on it when it's parked somewhere in a busy area.. or kick a mirror of or something. Some people just can't behave towards stuff they can't afford themselves...
  12. tell me all about it... Classic cars take DEEP pockets. I couldn't find anyone here who could rebuild them, and I don''t have the tools myself.. ( riveting machine etc )
  13. Yep. But I had that experience with many classic car parts repairs in the past. Some things you just can't do yourself. Lately I ordered a rebuild steering box for my mustang.. that was around 400 usd, still cheaper than 600 for one from summit. I knew this guy from Ebay. Our goverment here is also crazy, they charge tax on everything. The hinges I first got from somebody in Canada ( forum member here ), then I had to pay tax.. now they will come back to Netherlands again, and for sure they will tax me again They shouldn't put tax on second hand parts...
  14. They are on the way back now, cost me 500 euro incl shipping, then again i will most likely be taxed again by our greedy goverment , so i think a total of 570 or so. Hope it was worth it..
  15. That could be you can try that also. But if the hood doesn't fall down on itself, but instead you have to push it down, then the hinges are worn...
  16. http://www.hoodhingerepair.com/
  17. I have the same problem, found the problem to be in worn hinges ( pivot points ). I have send them away for rebuild to a guy in the states. Will post results in my topic when they are back on the car. Hope it works. If you have to push down on the hood you are allready confirming the problem to be in the hinges.
  18. Slowly getting there Mart It's good to see where the project is standing now, compared to when you first picked it up in Bemmel there...
  19. Yeah it's an early model indeed. I loved watching at it for some time. It's smaller and lower then the 240Z though... Maybe we can compare 432Z with " second engine " 240Z.... Also there are both like 350 2000gt and 432Z right ? ( I could be wrong ).
  20. Saw this again last weekend...
  21. Nice work Mart. Yes.. GOOD tools are everything...
  22. I like the original Z432 as it is... with the stock S20 engine. Same goes for the 240Z ( Export model ). Both have their own story. HP numbers from both stock engines only differ about 10 hp, but it's more like that the S20 Z has totally different engine and driving characteristics. They are both cool in their own ways. Same goes for the Toyota 2000GT with it's 2 litre twin cam engine.. The S30 for the Japanese market also seems are rare thing ? Cause it has the L20 engine and E30 head I believe ? How much of these are left ?
  23. The S20 and L24 are almost identical weight.. It's that the L24 has 400cc more, but the S20 has better breathing head for high rpm racing.
  24. The 5 speed sure has a higher top speed, and higher final drive ratio, that I can tell.
