  1. Haha good one ! I'm 50 in 20 years from now. But I agree with Chas haha, we might have the hoarder disease , but maybe like Chas says it's a whole different ball game over here..
  2. I can still see alot of stuff on that Z that can be refurbed/used on a another restoration. Seriously in 20 years from now these parts will be hard to find and ask top dollar.
  3. More of a thing for the hybrid z folks out there. Would not be my cup of coffee
  4. Great job on your build, tank looks good I used por15 fuel tank sealer on my restored gas pump. Still holds fine though ? But I had it blasted, and just applied the por15 with a brush ( I needed way less ! ). Maybe the rough blasted metal helps sticking it. It still holds perfectly, and doesn't dissolve with the gasoline. But it was some nasty stuff, be sure to wear gloves and a mask
  5. yeah it's a Bricklin. I thought you where talking about a real car
  6. Haha, say what ?!
  7. Yesterday I bought myself a new pet, for in my new place . He's a male Triton Cockatoo ! 5 years old. I still haven't found a name, suggestions are welcome . I can pick it up in about 4 weeks, can't wait haha
  8. Hey Chas , thanks ! It passed APK again this year. How's your Z going along, are you going to drive it this summer to Japan Classic day ?
  9. Well... 2 years passed again quickly, and the invitation for the road check ( APK ) showed up on the doormat again. It failed on the rear left drum brake ( I guess from sitting still during storage, because I rebuild the brakes nog so long ago ), so took it apart, but eventually with some searching I found a new main seal and it worked again. Passed for another 2 years ! Now the next one is in 2019, then the next one would be in 2021 but since new regulation coming into place in May 2018 about classic cars beeing 50 years and older are free of road check forever, I might have luck 2019 is the last time she needs to go for the road check. The car is back in storage now, I hope the weather gets better soon, but as it looks now, end of april.. she will sleep at least another 2 months
  10. It would be no problem if you changed the entire wiring harness in the car for a modern version. I don't know if that is there for the Datsun but it put a wiring harness from american autowire in my mustang, and that works with a modern self regulating alternator Edit: there's no harness specific for the 240Z, but there are " universal kits " that if your handy, can make fit into the car. Like this one: https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/aww-500703/overview/
  11. The head is back. So any interest PM me !
  12. The E31 head is ready, I'm going to pick it up next week. If anybody here on the club is interested send me a pm or else it will go on Ebay For the steering rack see pics above. I will post a pic of the head when I have it
  13. If the plugs are black, it's either over-fueling, or a bad spark or not enough air into the engine ( AFM )
  14. The only problem I have is that it's a 46 year old car ( and it's getting pretty rare, more each year ) and driving in today's dense and much faster traffic, makes me a bit sweaty in the hands and nervous sometimes, constantly looking ahead on what other drivers are doing..., because there are alot of reckless drivers on the road these days. I have to say that when I take it out for a cruise, i'd rather drive the country roads or at least stay away from dense traffic/cities.
  15. Sadly I don't live in a place that has nice warm weather all year. So during the winter it's stored, but I try to start it once a month if clear weather ( can't go on the road because of salt ). Then when the weather get's above 15c I'm starting to use it again, usually during the weekends, or I should have a free day off work. I use non ethanol fuel in the Datsun so it can be stored longer without problems. I can get 102 RON pure gasoline in Germany just across the border here, for the same price as 95 RON with 5% ethanol here..
  16. Difficult to give prices ? Here are pictures of the steering rack. It has a new bearing SKF 6003, everything cleaned, checked and re-greased. Rebuild according to the original manual. There's no play or worn out things. Ready to use ! The rack is sand blasted, cleaned and 3 coats of grey paint. After complete assembly extra grease was applied to the rack, through the lubcriation points. Price for the head ? Around 1000 USD ( I will ask 1500 outside of this club ) , the Rack 300 USD ( ex shipping )
  17. E31 head is rebuild sadly the guy at the engine shop doesn't have much time to work on, I was there last week and he promised to have it ready in januari. Also a rebuild steering rack for sale. If you are interested send me a pm and offer me a bid. I don't know shipping prices, have to ask. Prices will be lower for our club members here
  18. Could be head noise or rod noise. Either way take it apart before you start it again to check everything. Nice 280Z !
  19. Yup. It's missing the outer door kick plates with " datsun " on them. Many things not original on this 73 model if you wanna be picky before you throw cash around... Seems like they did quite a lot to the car, suspension and brakes where done etc. I can't look under that paint what's hiding there, but with 25k the seller cannot complain imo.
  20. Good eye Mart. Yeah they could at least have put a pair of new rubbers on the pedals..
  21. That would be the only reason you would want to buy one ( for restoration if you are missing the early valve cover ), from beginning of 71 the last 240Z's came with this valve cover. I see no reason putting an early valve cover on a mid 71 or later 240z.
  22. I had a topic on the door seals a while back how I solved the slamming, when restoring my 240z. All the aftermarket ones, even from vintage rubber are wrong. The Original ones where very soft, because the door is very light. You should not need to slam it even with the new rubber. It took me a while to find the correct rubber at a local supplier, for a few bucks really, not the 90 dollar per side vintage is asking Edit: here's the link
  23. Nice pictures Kats. Is there any information on how many 432 S30''s are left and who owns them ?
  24. bartsscooterservice replied to thumpgun's post in a topic in Introductions
Nice rides ! Love the brown interior on the 240z ! Kafers ( Dutch is Kever ) are fun, most people here hate em, but I kinda like em ( not the mexican ones ). Those air cooled motors are fun to work on.
  25. I can tell you there is rust on that chassis... Also it needs lots of work to get it in a nice original condition again. And it's a 72, less desired than a 69/70 and 71. It's say his asking price of 7500 is fair. I would pay between 7500 -10.000 for this.
