72 240z
Needs welding, floors, doglegs, but seems to me a good candidate for a restoration ? Original engine is still there. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-/122021923385?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1c6912ca39:g:NMoAAOSwNuxXaJLN&item=122021923385

Hello from across the pond! Searching for a 240z
Actually a series 2 doesn't exist. That's just what we call it based on the rear sail pillar emblem. But changes went slowly over time during the production. They used up parts laying around from the real early cars on mid to late 71's.

E31 head for sale
All stock with stock camshaft. Valve seats have been replaced offcourse for unleaded. I am not sure about the price yet, it's hard to determine a price for these..

Is this acceptable?
Not good. Go back. It was done to quickly, and the preparation wasn't done right. That grinder marks should have been sandblasted. The yellow is only touching the edges as you can see.

Hello from across the pond! Searching for a 240z
What do you mean with a period styled racer ? You said you want a matching numbers car. So you just want to upgrade the engine a bit, like for instande triple carburetors, or do more things ? The first thing you should look for on a 240Z is an as much as possible rust free car. If you buy cheap you will need to invest more to get it back in good condition, so you would be looking at at price tag of around 15k or more. Here's an example ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-/252405711514?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3ac48d829a:g:ExsAAOSwa81XSeWB&item=252405711514

Car SOS restores a 240Z
It was done pretty good, although it's missing many Original parts. Never understood why they ditched the Hitachi carbs for throttle bodies and fuel injection. I mean isn't a classic supposed to be restored to Original ?

HLS3007326 says hello!
Nice ride ! I would put air filters on there.. there's Always the chance of little dirt going into the cylinders and let it wear out quicker.

E31 head for sale
I will be having an extra spare rebuild E31 for sale, within a month or so. It's currently at the shop being rebuild, it's almost done. If any club members here are interested, give me a reasonable offer. It's getting hard to find these..

My Datsun 240Z
Okay. Here's a picture of today. The 240Z is back, standing next to his big brother . 2 Icons of 70's USA... Did some work yesterday cleaning up the engine bay and interior, cause it was al dirty from standing all that time in the paint shop. Only problem I know have is that the voltage regulator is shot ( I think the accident last time, that caused the damage gave it a final blow. It was reading 17.2 Volts at idle, so shut it down before frying the wiring.. ), ordered one, and it is on the way from Japan...

RIP John Coffey
- RIP John Coffey
RIP John Coffey ! You never know when you'r gonna go.. but 56 is to quick ! I hope he's with Mr.K out there..- View inside Fuel tank, previous coating?
It's not that bad looking at the pictures. I would clean up the feed and return lines, and have them re-soldered. ( would not cost much ) The inside I would put alot of nuts and bolts in there together with some cleaning vinegar. Shake it for a while, leave it a day, then shake again, then drain the tank and see how it looks. If it's clean use por15 fuel tank coating ( 3 steps ). The first time I would fill it up with gas, and slush it around for a while, and then drain it again, then put new gas again, when it's under the car, Put a new fuel filter and you are ready to go. - Soldering = cheap - Cleaning vinegar and nuts and bolts = cheap - Por 15 fuel tank coating .. $ ? Another option would be sandblasting the outside ( cheap option.. drill and wire wheel ) of the fuel tank, then have it soldered, and then repaint it. Steps for the inside the same.- My Datsun 240Z
The inners he used them from another brand and modified them to fit, to look like the original, at least that's what I was told by him. Outers came from a shop in the US.- My Datsun 240Z
Yeah, it looks really good.. Subaru blue if i am correct, don't know the exact paint code, would have to ask the shop - RIP John Coffey
