  1. I think fuel injection has prooven to have much more problems in reliability than carburated engines, their only benefit is fuel consumption. But simplicity carb is way better.
  2. Yes Valvoline is good oil.. I use it to for my work.
  3. Yeah.. I agree with you. I feel the same with the Mustang I have. But I love both. A V8 doesn't belong in a Z.. What year is the c3 ? Late 70's..early 80's model ?
  4. Haha, yeah they are going nuts with the salt here to. I feel somebody has interest $ stocks in salt here..
  5. Love this song.. and well she's talks about " Datsuns " We are drinking beer at noon on Tuesday In a bar that faces a giant car wash The good people of the world are washing their cars On their lunch break, hosing and scrubbing As best they can in skirts in suits They drive their shiny Datsuns and Buicks Back to the phone company, the record store too Well, they're nothing like Billy and me, cause
  6. It's really a survivor... very nice 240Z
  7. Get rid of the heat wrap from the fuel lines first. This is not necessary. The gauge reading I had a problem with to, it turned out I needed the ORIGINAL nissan temp sensor, because the after market ones had wrong OHM readings, giving the needle a wrong position on the gauge. Do you use a stock mechanical fuel pump or an electric one ? Edit: One the picture on post 1 I guess you have an electrical one, ditch that and go back to the mechanical one, with the spacer plate ( some people forget that ). The engine was DESIGNED for mechanical, not electrical fuel pump, it's giving to much pressure on the needle in the float. In Original condition the pump is only feeding slight pressure when the engine is " running ".
  8. Why ? I have a rebuild E31 head from them, and it works fine.
  9. Not sure if this was posted before here, but found it on youtube. Some part is about the 240Z as well.
  10. Also thanks goes to Chas ( Eurodat ) for helping with the Mustang wiring
  11. It's been a while, but updates from the damage repair are slowly coming in from the paint shop. Meanwhile working getting " the stang " back together..
  12. True that..
  13. What's the condition of the engine itself ? How many miles ? Does it use oil ? Sounds more like leaking valves to me, and bad or worn piston rings. Backfiring through the carb or exhaust can be an ignition timing problem, or leaking valves. The carbs can run to lean or to rich, but if the engine is in good condition it should not backfire..
  14. I wouldn't mind going back to the 70's ! I mean have things really gotten better with smartphones and the internet.. people are like zombies these days. Where's the social contact ?
  15. Carb Coolant Bypass Tube (Over as pictured here, or under the manifold nut/washer?) Under..against he head
  16. Yeah I got a rebuild set of them to. Runs great ever since, and fuel economy is actually pretty good.
  17. Sorry haven't measured that. But you mean this ?
  18. We used them to in the engine rebuild. Works great.
  19. So they all came with wood, but the leather one was optional and added at the dealership I think ? Not in the factory..

  22. I think it's more of an investement to them, so they would put it away stored somewhere. Some rich people might drive it sometimes between the storage and see it's value increase over time..
  23. I also managed to arrange repair weld in rocker panels and the lower part of the rear wheel arches, because the previous owner didn't repair that quite well. Also the joint that the rocker panel has with the rear panel ( below the door ) was not visable, but now will be.. as to original specifications. Because the car it getting a new respray anyway, we can do this. Let's do it right We didn't know of the joint the last time it was resprayed. In the mean time while waiting for the 240Z to come back from the body shop, I thought it was nice to share my story on Hagerty. https://www.hagerty.com/yourstories/2015/11/22/The-Datsun-240Z-a-legend-from-the-land-of-the-rising-sun20151122092757
