  3. Seems in a good condition, engine has the earlier carbs, or could be one of the last with those carbs, so they are Original to the car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-/262134355729?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3d086cd711:g:q7sAAOSw5ZBWQSkn&item=262134355729
  4. Looks like a good saver ? Seems Original, even the tires and steel wheels with hubcaps, engine seems Original to the car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-/291613550371?forcerrptr=true&hash=item43e585a723:g:1QUAAOSw7hRWQidF&item=291613550371
  5. http://wd40specialist.com/products/industrial_strength_degreaser This one from WD40 is right for the job..
  6. I use a citrus based degreaser, works fine. Spray WD40 on everything electric first, this way water can't get in.
  7. Yeah it really was ! I was looking at it quite a while.. Didn't knew they had a 2000gt in their collection, you almost don't see em in personal. It's a bit smaller than the 240Z and also it's height is less..
  8. Went to the Louwman Museum yesterday in The Hague ( Den Haag ). It's a very nice collection they have, I also saw family of the 240Z..
  9. That's way to rich indeed
  10. A little update: The 240Z is getting repaired work is underway. It was really... really hard to find those spare parts.. I could not find the early style lower valances, but those are getting repaired by a professional body shop. The Original radiator is also getting a complete new core. It will take a while, but in about 4 months it should be back on the road.

    Great roads indeed
  12. To bad about the V8, not sure of the Original engine is still there http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-/121778781235?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1c5a94bc33&item=121778781235
  13. Love the scenery in the back on the first picture ! More more !
  14. Yeah California seems " really " strict on this subject..
  15. I disagree, the old mechanical injector diesels run much longer. My dad has a van from 2000 and still runs strong, uses no oil, . It's slow, but it does 900 km on a full tank, while my 2007 TDI ( work van ) does 600 to 650 km on a full tank with modern computer controlled injection. An besides we use an old 80's VW engine in our boat, and it still runs strong today and burns no oil. Those things run forever. The more simple they are, the better. I'm a firm believer that the new engines are not better in terms of engine life and fuel consumption. The produce more power but at a cost..
  16. Does it smoke also when hot ? If it smokes more when cold, en some when hot, it's your piston rings ( including the oil rings ), that are worn out Eurodat is right about the brakes.. safety first ! The stock brakes are fine if you have them in good condition, no need to upgrade it.. only if you go for more engine power.
  17. Thanks Mike, just what I needed. I gave it to the bodyshop. I will have to wait the result of the expert from the Insurance and then work my way from there. We might have to agree on the amount of money needed for repair first. I hope when I get if fixed " again " I can enjoy it for a while !
  18. Great work ! I know how much work it is going ground up... good thing is your getting there !
  19. Yeah I was pretty angry all that work and then this.. The Insurance of the other party is not going to be happy, but that's not my problem, she's going to be fixed the " right " way I am going to make sure of that.
  20. If anybody here has a good readable chassis drawing with the oem measurements please mail me : info@bartsscooterservice.nl
  21. Luck is on my side again... Was going to town to wash the car, came back and parked it here on our own area at home, needed to help a customer. The moment I am doing that I see the visitor from my neighbour drive his work van straight into the front of my 240z.. (*@#&!@&!@ Dammit ! Just got it done ( alot of problems with the chrome work and paint allready ) and now this.. Filled in the papers and it's going to be fixed offcourse, but i'm pretty angry because he could have looked before driving away in reverse.. Here's some pictures, the hood seems okay, but you never now, the chassis wil have to be inspected etc.. Don't know yet have to call the Insurance first on monday and work from there. Parts may need to come from the US again because nothing is available here.. Offcourse it's going to be fixed but it didn't have to be...
  22. Yeah he's talking about girls isn't he ? Ontopic: Wow's that some project you did right there ! Crazy work we do to get these Datsun's back on the road
  23. If it spits both out of the carburetor AND backfire, things that come to my mind are timing and valve clearance Did you do anything to the motor, rebuild it or what ?
