  1. Okay thanks for the info, I will bring the head to the engine rebuild shop first then for inspection..
  2. Mine is from 5/71 and also has the E31 head, maybe one of the last. Seems they where used pretty long still.
  3. Yeah.. just waiting fort he cylinder head and then I can get everything back together. Last weekend we visited a US car meeting at the Sinsheim Museum in southern Germany. Lot’s of classic US cars ! 4 to 500 cars I think.. Really cool to see so much US classic car fans.. Here’s some pictures we took. The brown Buick Electra is from my brother. It’s the largest Electra ever built ( 1975 ) with the 455 cu engine.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn-prZ3cRZY
  4. Crankshaft also arrived..
  5. Okay just called with the engine rebuild shop they said they can save the head but it's going to take a while need to send it to another shop. I searched around and Al from California Datsun has an E31 laying around luckily..., so I will order this one from him, and put the other one when it's repaired on the shelf.
  6. So what does remain of 00019... ?
  7. The E31 cylinder head is warped, and the engine shop is trying to get it back, it needs to go 0.9mm . If not working I have 2 options: let a shop in the US repair the head or search another E31 head... There's no company here to be found that can do it. I found several E88 heads but I'd like to keep the E31...
  8. Getting the engine back together. Engine shop is still working on the head. Paint is drying more pics to come ( missing the dipstick I know, will pick it up with the head )
  9. Most parts have arrived, and some are still under way from ZcarDepot. Ryan is doing a great job in helping me out.
  10. It's from Motip, the number is 42400
  11. Here's the alternator mount painted:
  12. Meanwhile getting everything ready to go back on the engine.. Made paint to match original , on a piece of paint that was still there on the bracket of the alternator, had it scanned at a local paint shop and put into cans. It seems the original paint contains blue and green, with more light exposure it looks more blue, but in the dark or garage it goes more towards turqoiuse.. click image upload image sharing
  13. Loved it haha, that's some good description right there !
  14. This should be the right color I believe, mine does the same thing, it's because of the blue and green content in the original paint. The more light exposure, the more blue you see.
  15. It should be the right color, MartZedCars ( Mart ) who's on the forum here also had some original brochures laying around, which showed the engine color like the picture from 73str86 above.. The more light exposure, the more blue you see in it.
  16. I had the paint matched with original paint that was still on a bracket, so it must be like 97% close ?
  17. This is what it looks outside when dryed..
  18. Since I am rebuilding my engine, I needed to find a color as close to original as possible. I found some Dupont codes, but somehow they couldn't convert that here or where not using it anymore.. A friend who lives nearby, who's also on the forum here, had a bracket laying around that still contained some of the original color.. I had it matched up at a paint shop into cans, what do you guys think of it? In the flash picture, you can see the blue more, but in normal daylight it's like the blue/turquoise..
  19. Yup that's so.. Parts will arrive next week, if Lucky I could get the engine back together before the event in Germany. I'd really like to go there with the 240..
