  1. The whole float setting thing is a myth. You either have the proper factory level or it's off, meaning it's worn ( or blocked with gunk ) and it overflows. These carbs where not build to have an electrical fuel pump feed them. ( like captain obvious says above here ) If you need to open the throttle to get it started, and the worse mpg means only 1 thing: it's getting to much fuel.

  3. Yeah, it's a first gen that's why I posted the link
  4. If anyone buys it for parts, I would be interested in the dash if willing to sell !
  5. Seems pretty fast, how much power is the engine making ?

  7. First time I see it's not L motor -> V8 but V8 -> L motor Nice find !
  8. But they have to rebuild the engine anyhow ? So what's the point..
  9. What's wrong with Ztherapy restored carbs then ? 99% of the people will not see the difference, they use genuine parts for the rebuild. I feel 1600 is really to much, but somebody might bite..
  10. nice work so far !
  11. The 240Z is heading to the painter tomorrow. I removed the bumpers and the headliner ( for sunroof removal ). The painter will remove all the windows/lights etc and replace all the rubber seals. ( all the seals are in the carton box in the rear of the 240z ) I also managed to buy an original 1971 owners manual from Ebay. The owner said the following: Nissan Motor Corp. reprinted these in 1997 for the Nissan Z-Store- to put in the glove box of the Restored 1970-72 240Z's. I was part of that program restoring Z's. I got these direct from Nissan Motor Corp. So these are NOS of Nissan's reprint.
  12. My reaction was based on his first post. Driving a classic car isn't something for him, unless he buys a restored one or he is prepared and skilled enough to do all the work himself.
  13. Don't use it for a daily driver, unless it's a completely restored one. But most people won't use that as a " daily driver ".
  14. Hi Courtney, Welcome to the club and the Datsun virus Cool story on your blog ! My advice ( if you like originality ) would be to get everything back to stock ( su carbs ( better fuel mileage ) and oem mechanical fan ), also tune up and replace as much wear items as possible. Been there done that.... I thought my car was good, until I changed for almost 10 grand on parts to get it reliable ! Like Robert says you'll learn along the way.. Gr Bart

    Looks pretty good also, can still see many flaws though
  17. Who bought it ? I might be needing a first gen dash.. if it's not cracked
  18. Chris your carbs are doing fine so far, it never ran so good, the old carbs must really have been worn !
  19. Yesterday another local classic car event, this year was the second time, not so many cars, but still fun !
  20. Mine has a plastic fan and is from 5/71, should it then have had the metal fan instead ?
  21. Maybe then it would be more appropriate to name model changes per production year ?
  22. It's cool, a friend of mine is also into 3D printing, they make the wire for 3d printers.. But those plastic cars will never replace the metal classics for me..
  23. This should be a series 2 right, but it still has the metal cooling fan ? I assume now that there isn't a real " series 1 to series 2 " period they just changed things during the production time ...?
